Planetary Overview

Valisca Prime is a temperate, secluded world celebrated for its natural beauty and cultural sophistication. Isolated from the wider galaxy for centuries, Valisca Prime is revered by the Valari as sacred ground, a sanctuary deeply connected to the Force (referred to as the Great Flow by its inhabitants). Lush forests, pristine rivers, and towering mountain ranges characterize the landscape, which remains largely untouched by industrialization due to the Valari's commitment to environmental stewardship.

Geography and Climate

Valisca Prime's surface is diverse, blending fertile lowland plains, dense forests, and expansive mountain ranges. The Veiled Woods serve as a sanctuary for Force-sensitive Valari seeking solitude, while the Highland Peaks are home to traditional Highland Valari villages. Each region supports unique flora and fauna, some of which possess mild Force sensitivity, enhancing the Valari's spiritual connection to their surroundings.

The tri-moons of Valisca Prime—named Solira, Velora, and Astralis—play a significant role in Valari culture, often used to guide spiritual practices. Under the light of these moons, Valari skin takes on a soft bioluminescent glow, seen as a sacred manifestation of the Great Flow. Seasonal shifts influence Valari rituals, with annual festivals marking the changes in the planetary cycle.

Native Species and Demographics

The Valari are the dominant species, making up nearly 100% of the population. Non-native species are exceedingly rare on Valisca Prime, as the Valari enforce strict immigration policies to maintain cultural purity. A select number of outsiders are allowed temporary residence for diplomatic or trade purposes, yet these individuals are closely monitored to ensure they adhere to Valari customs and regulations.

Population Demographics

  • Highland Valari: 30% (~2.4 million)
  • Lowland Valari: 55% (~4.4 million)
  • Astral Valari (Nobility): 14.5% (~1.16 million)
  • Aetherian Lineage (Royal Family): <0.5% (~200)
The Aetherian Lineage, distinguished by their unique physical traits and prophetic abilities, holds the highest social status, with the royal family symbolizing unity and spiritual guidance.

History

Origins and the Founding Covenant (circa 0 - 1000 BBY)

The story of Valisca Prime begins with a small group of Force-sensitive pilgrims seeking a sanctuary far from the galactic conflicts of their time. Led by wise sages and warriors, these settlers journeyed into the unknown regions, guided by the Force until they discovered Valisca Prime—a lush, temperate world. Its pristine forests, towering mountains, and cascading rivers seemed untouched by civilization, an Eden aligned with their ideals.

The first settlers, later known as the Elder Wayfarers, made a sacred vow known as the Founders' Covenant. This pact bound them to protect the land, honor their connection to the Force, and uphold values of unity, wisdom, and respect for nature. In establishing this covenant, the Founders laid the cornerstone of Valiscan culture, vowing that their society would remain untainted by the corruption and greed of the galaxy beyond.

The Rise of the Prophets and the Codex of Prophecy (1000 - 500 BBY)

As Valari society flourished, individuals possessing exceptional spiritual sensitivity emerged—those known as the Celestial Prophets. Bearing distinctive marble-patterned eyes and a rare blue-streaked platinum hair, these Prophets were revered for their ability to interpret the Great Flow. Their visions were recorded in what became the Codex of Prophecy, a collection of sacred texts that would shape Valari spirituality, social ethics, and governance.

The Codex of Prophecy was more than a religious text; it was a guide to Valari destiny, promoting values like introspection, harmony, and stewardship. Over centuries, the Codex became the soul of Valari culture, instilling a reverence for the Force, compassion for others, and the pursuit of wisdom. By the end of this period, the Council of Elders emerged as a governing body, overseeing that Valisca Prime's future aligned with the Prophets' guidance.

Isolation and the Edict of Seclusion (200 BBY - 100 ABY)

As galactic turmoil spread, the Valari embraced a policy of isolationism, choosing to withdraw from external affairs to protect their way of life. The Edict of Seclusion was introduced, severely limiting contact with outside civilizations. Trade and communication with the galaxy were restricted to a select few diplomats under strict oversight.

During this period, Valari culture deepened, and advancements turned inward. The Valari invested in their spiritual practices, cultural artistry, and connection to the land, preserving their traditions and maintaining a harmonious society. However, the isolation also limited technological progress, as the Valari were wary of innovations that could disturb their bond with the planet and the Force. This era solidified the Valari identity but at the cost of a slower rate of modernization.

The Great Awakening and the Opening of the Gates (700 - 850 ABY)

In 700 ABY, Valari society experienced the Great Awakening, a surge in Force sensitivity throughout the population, especially among those of the Aetherian Lineage. The prophecies forewarned that Valisca Prime would face challenges from beyond its borders, spurring the younger generation to question the Edict of Seclusion. Internal debates grew, dividing society between traditionalists and reformists who sought limited engagement with the galaxy.

In 800 ABY, the Council moderated the Edict of Seclusion to allow controlled diplomacy. This shift, known as the Opening of the Gates, marked a cautious engagement with outside forces. The decision created new societal dynamics as Valari diplomats and scholars began to study external cultures, recognizing both the opportunities and the threats that such interactions posed. Despite resistance, this cautious outreach enriched Valari culture, fostering advancements and inspiring new interpretations of the Codex.

The Vanguard Reformation and Rise of Military Influence (850 - 880 ABY)

With contact reestablished, the Valari began to sense growing disturbances in the Force, perceived as omens of conflict. In response, the Valari military, known as the Valiscan Vanguard, was reformed to protect the planet from potential threats. Under the leadership of General Atheon Karis, the Vanguard expanded and embraced a more assertive stance, marking a departure from Valari pacifism.

Karis's reforms emphasized strength and vigilance, attracting Highland Valari warriors who believed in safeguarding their world. The Vanguard's influence grew, sparking debates between those who valued the pacifist ideals of the Founders' Covenant and those who saw militarization as essential for survival. While controversial, the Vanguard Reformation earned widespread support among Highland Valari and young reformists, setting the stage for a transformative period.

The Karis Coup and Aielyn's Exile (circa 890 ABY)

A turning point in Valiscan history came when General Karis sought to consolidate his influence through an arranged marriage with Princess Aielyn, a direct descendant of the Aetherian Lineage and a prominent member of the royal family. Aielyn, however, rejected his proposal, viewing his militaristic ambitions as a betrayal of Valari values. This refusal sparked outrage in Karis, who viewed her as an obstacle to his vision.

In retaliation, Karis launched a coup to seize power, targeting the royal family. The coup divided Valari society, with loyalists rallying to defend the monarchy while militaristic factions aligned with Karis. Amid the turmoil, Aielyn's parents urged her to flee Valisca Prime, foreseeing the dangers if she remained. With the aid of loyal High Sentinels and trusted allies, Aielyn narrowly escaped, managing to evade capture by the Vanguard forces loyal to Karis.

The successful coup placed Karis at the helm of Valiscan governance, establishing a provisional rule marked by militarization and strict policies. The royal family's loyalists went underground or sought refuge outside Valisca Prime, initiating a government-in-exile and pledging to support Aielyn's eventual return.

The Age of Uncertainty and the Path to Reclamation (Present Day, 890 ABY)

Under Karis's rule, Valisca Prime stands at a crossroads. While Karis's reforms have brought a new sense of order, they also clash with Valari traditions, straining the social fabric and creating an atmosphere of unease. The government-in-exile, loyal to the Aetherian Lineage, gathers support in the Core Worlds.

For the Valari, the Age of Uncertainty brings a crisis of identity as they grapple with their history, the Codex's prophecies, and the legacy of the Founders' Covenant. The outcome of this struggle will determine whether Valisca Prime reclaims its traditions or is forever altered by the ambition of a single leader and the forces he unleashed.

Government and Society

Valari society operates as a monarchic oligarchy deeply influenced by spiritual beliefs. The Council of Elders and Veiled Ones work alongside the royal family to ensure all decisions align with the Codex. However, General Karis's recent coup has upended this structure, with his faction now dominating governance, ruling through a combination of military strength and political control.

Council of Elders

An advisory body comprised of spiritual leaders, scholars, and warriors, the Council oversees decisions that impact society, balancing the royal family's authority with the principles of the Codex.

Veiled Ones

This mystical order guards the Codex, offering spiritual guidance and prophecy interpretation. The Veiled Ones play an active role in advising both the Council and royal family, preserving the Codex's teachings.

Sacred Sites

Several regions on Valisca Prime are deemed sacred, restricted to Valari rituals, meditations, or pilgrimage. The Temple of the Founders and Prophetic Stone Tablets are places of deep reverence, believed to amplify Force sensitivity. Bioluminescent flora within these areas are said to heighten spiritual attunement, and the Veiled Woods serve as a secluded retreat for the most devout.

Force Sensitivity and Abilities

The Valari are naturally Force-sensitive, viewing the Great Flow as a guiding consciousness. Most Valari have basic attunement, but the Astral Valari and Aetherian Lineage possess advanced abilities, including prophecy, bioluminescent healing, and telepathic bonding with close allies.
  • Emotional Empathy: Valari can sense others' emotions, enhancing their diplomatic skills.
  • Bioluminescent Healing: Under the tri-moons, Valari can channel the Great Flow to heal others, their skin glowing as they do so.
  • Telepathic Bonding: Close family members and bonded allies can communicate telepathically, symbolizing trust and loyalty.

Culture and Traditions

Seasonal Festivals

The Valari celebrate seasonal changes with festivals honoring their bond with nature and the Great Flow.
  • Spring - Festival of Growth: Ceremonies symbolize renewal and the planting of seeds.
  • Summer - Festival of Abundance: A communal feast celebrates nature's bounty.
  • Autumn - Festival of Reflection: Elders lead storytelling and meditation.
  • Winter - Festival of Resilience: Fasting and night vigils encourage inner strength.

Artistic Expression

Valari art, like Prophetic Song and Dance and Bioluminescent Murals, channels the Great Flow, conveying messages of prophecy. Bioluminescent Artistry brings sacred scenes to life, offering an immersive experience that deepens during meditation.

Military and Defense

The Valiscan Vanguard is the primary military force on Valisca Prime, respected for its discipline and Force abilities. General Karis's rise has transformed the Vanguard into a powerful faction, with the High Sentinels of the Vanguard serving as the elite royal guard, now fractured by the recent coup.
  • High Command: Oversees strategic planning, led by Astral Valari commanders.
  • Vanguard Elite: Comprised of Highland warriors, protecting Valari borders and sacred sites.
  • High Sentinels of the Vanguard: Elite Force-sensitive warriors, trained to defend Valari leaders and uphold the Codex in times of crisis.

Religion and Beliefs

The Valari venerate the Great Flow, a unifying concept of the Force that permeates all life. The Veiled Ones serve as guardians of the Codex, preserving spiritual integrity and offering guidance through times of change. Prophetic figures like those of the Aetherian Lineage are believed to be conduits of the Great Flow, their lives shaped by destiny and foresight.

Notable Heirlooms and Relics

The Valari royal family possesses a collection of relics, each believed to contain fragments of prophetic wisdom or Force sensitivity.
  • Shard of Aetheris: Amplifies spiritual clarity, used by the Veiled Ones.
  • Chalice of Celestine: Enhances bonds during ceremonies.
  • Mirror of Sideria: Allows glimpses into past, present, and future.
  • Heartstone of Valisca: Heightens empathy in diplomatic gatherings.
  • Flame of the Prophets: A perpetual fire symbolizing unity and strength.

Current Challenges and Prophetic Uncertainty

With Karis's successful coup and Aielyn's departure, Valisca Prime stands at a crossroads. Prophecies hint at a time of great change, testing the Valari's commitment to unity as they confront both internal conflict and the expanding galaxy. The future remains uncertain, but the Valari draw strength from the Codex, hoping to preserve their way of life in a world increasingly affected by outside forces.
