SPECIAL FEATURES
- The Valkyrie defense network is capable of generating an energy web that is able to act on starships in a similar way to an ion cannon, negating their shields before neutralizing the ship’s systems.
Strengths:
- Hard to spot: The network itself consists of a series of small mechanical nodes which work together to generate the energy web needed to take down an enemy vessel. The nodes are delivered in a specialised missile, akin in size to standard capital weapons. This delivery missile is coated in reflect to make it harder for sensors to lock onto it, increasing the likelihood that it will make it to its target.
- Energy Web: The Network is capable of producing an energy web around a target which is capable of shutting down shields and systems of a targeted vessel. Effectively catching it in a net of energy that can leave it stranded in space.
Weaknesses:
- Point defense: The missile relies heavily upon the passive effect of the reflec to allow it to traverse the space to its target. However, this leaves it vulnerable to point defences, and a single shot can knock out the entire network
- Ion defences: The network in effect relies upon a web of ionic energy to shut down an enemy ship, this means that any ion-specific defences, such as cap drains, would be able to severely lessen the effectiveness of the weapon, or even stop it altogether.
DESCRIPTION
The Valkyrie Defense Network is considered to be cutting edge naval warfare technology. Oddly enough the defense network is heavily inspired by the warring habits of less-advanced civilizations. On worlds that have never experienced the majesty of space travel, warfare is much more limited. When it comes to warfare, be it advanced or not, there is no ability more valuable than limiting the movement of the enemy. The Valkyrie exists to do just that, on the grand scheme of space combat. Utilizing a complex energy web, the Valkyrie is capable of completely isolating a target vessel’s electronic systems. From there, it will be effectively neutralized and disengaged. The web disperses steady energy waves which can be distributed from mechanical nodes or a specialized energy emitter.
