Millions of refugees fleeing from Bryn'adul genocides entered Silver Jedi Concord space which oftentimes overwhelmed the abilities of many local governments. With many of these refugees hungry and injured, Lucerne Biological Systems attempted to come up with a product that could help immediately alleviate their suffering upon this forced exile. By genetically engineering some seaweed originally from the ocean world of Vaynai, the company was able to come up with an edible fermented slick extract that could help provide a general purpose healing aid to users at a fraction of the cost of a bacta treatment as well as provide a mental buffer from some of the severe stress they were suffering from. Combined with highly nutritional but bland nutrient paste to meet the refugees nutritional needs, Lucerne Biological Systems believed that they had made the wonder product to help with this massive refugee crisis. Consequently, it began churning these ration bars out in massive quantities. While Vaynai Emergency Rations have indeed provided some immediate relief to these refugees, it has at best proved to be a temporary solution - continued eating of these rations past a couple of weeks has some refugees to suffer from bouts of delirium or euphoria. This in turn has resulted in most systems classifying Vaynai as a controlled medical substance, as well as created a small underground market for users who eat it solely for its euphoric effects.
