- The Interdictor Mk1 was built to include a Faraday cage in conjunction with other EMP shielding techniques/materials in order to ensure that the weapon system not only would be safed from the immense electromagnetic activity it projects due to the nature of Rail Gun technology, but also as a defensive measure against enemy attacks which might target the electronic integrity of the system.
- The Interdictor Mk1 has the ability to be stowed underground in times of non use. This shelters the weapon from the eyes of the public or reconnaissance/surveillance when not actively engaged.
- Capital Ship Negation (The Interdictor Mk1 was designed with the intent to quickly negate enemy/opposition Capital ships. It has an immense amount of firepower meant to rip through shields and hull armor.
- Rail Gun (This weapon fires projectiles of electromagnetic force)
- EMP Shielded (See Special Features)
- Slow Fire Rate (The Interdictor Mk1 has an incredibly low rate of fire and takes time to recharge between shots, turning the weapon system into a sitting duck between shots)
- Maneuverability (Because of the Immense size of the weapon system, the movement of the weapon is very slow when taking aim. It takes a longer time to narrow aim onto a particular target. Furthermore, the Interdictor Mk1 cannot fire while in motion)
- Hit Box (The sheer size of this weapon makes it an easy target for opposition to target and engage)
- Not a Flyswatter (This weapon system stands little chance of successfully engaging a shipping smaller than the size of a moderate cruiser)
- Overheating (this weapon system cannot fire continuously as the firepower it possesses generates an abhorrent amount heat. By the completion of a fifth consecutive volley, this weapon will have to stand down or risk critical damage which would threaten the structural integrity of the entire weapon system)
The Interdictor Mk1 has been in development for a number of years where the engineers sought to improve upon the technological brilliance of a bygone age. The original concept was simply design an operational planetary-based defense system that would be able to effectively engage nefarious fleets should they arrive overhead with a foul intent. They idea was to be able to quickly engage and stave off, if not subdue, an unsuspecting assault by an enemy force until the Confederacy could arrive to quell the threat. One of the easiest ways they thought this would be to achieve, was to erect and weapon system of such extreme means that it would be able to swiftly take out the largest, and often most dangerous and menacing, ships of an invading fleet. To give the enemy a huge black eye before the greater military strength could finish the fight.
Tasked by the Viceroy of Druckenwell after the scare on the world of a reborn Galactic Empire, the engineers of Valnora Enterprise developed the Interdictor Mk1. A slightly different undertaking from their typical contract to develop and/or enhance a starship, the men and women of Druckenwell’s very own Valnora Enterprise embraced the challenge of doing something new and different. Of stepping outside of the box. Thus the Mk1 was born.
In all honesty, the original blueprint brought before the board and CEO of Valnora was rejected, pointing to the propensity of a great number of design flaws. However, when the engineers had come back with their second concept, they were given the green light to proceed. It turned into a Rail Gun of monstrous size and possessed a fire power that one would imagine would make even the most heavily defended Starship tremble. It was immense, menacing, and took every bit of what made a rail gun a rail gun to what was perceived to be an entirely new level.
