Public Velabri (When the Queen's a Spade digging a grave)

For quite some time now, Velabri has been a planet in the outer rim territory within the Galaxy that has been left alone as far as Military warfare and invasions were concerned. Offering simple trade and dealing with leveled politics that keep the political balance at bay, has proven to remain a staple world amongst it's counterparts. Within the planet. however the insurgency has taken shape due to the high demand to keep such an economic structure. Especially in Capitol City. The largest city on the planet surrounded by un-leveled terrain and mountains, has focused on the defensive structure and organization of it's dwelling to remain strong and as one. Within the history of Velabri, It was once under the rule of the Galactic Empire which established Capitol City as it's major base of operations. Finally being liberated under the leadership of Lord Ganna-Bal, whom was a Velabrian..One of the founding species and families, Capitol City thrived under a new rule..However...Those who could not live the way the government had structured, turned to a life of crime and chaotic schemes to bring what they call true and fair opportunity to all citizens. Though these ideals were crushed over and over again..As the decades went on...Secretive deals and supposed pact agreements are and still being made with forces unknown...But..As those who claim birthright to the planet continue to live there under a new leadership..Some will not stand for it and seek to change the City..Forever.

Queen Kara Regis...Newly elected Queen of Velabri, after her father Dicardo's passing..Sets a new regime to appease peoples of all nations and countries..Hoping Velabri stays strong and united. Being surrounded by influential forces makes it tougher to remain independent, As the Planet has been at the mercy of no one from the outer rim in quite some time. As the scale begins to tilt, Which direction will the Queen turn?

A C-ROC Gozanti cruiser exits hyperspace at the edge of the Velabri system; underneath the craft, four TIE/mg detached, their ion engines screaming - they formed up in a standard escort pattern, their shields raised but their weapons unpowered. Likewise, the Gozanti kept its weaponry retracted and unpowered, but, as a precaution, kept its shielding raised; all ships broadcast an IFF that identified them as diplomatic ships. The five craft were very clearly not Mining Guild or Collective, the color scheme being one of gray with two red stripes. Between the stripes, a stylized golden aurebesh Leth, or "L" was stenciled, along with the word "LIKON". The ship, "Spirit of Collaboration", slowly made its way deeper into the system at a leisurely pace, unhurried and unconcerned.

======================================================

Aboard the Gozanti, Roth Likonis lounged at a large meeting table, a datapad in his hands. "Velabri system eh?" The words were a little thick, being muttered around a large cigarra that poured out thick sweet smelling marcan herb smoke. "Tell me about them Overseer." Sitting back in his chair, he lifted his legs, clonking his boots on the polished wood of the meeting table. Roth wasn't exactly like most corporate executives - he didn't wear the smart looking business suits or polished shoes of his other CEO brethren. Instead he wore the work boots and sturdy clothing of a miner; only his heavy jacket, capped with polished chromium shoulder guards, designated him as anything other than an everyday miner. Roth was someone who got his hands dirty; if there was work to be done, he wasn't sitting around in some office somewhere sipping tea - he was down in the pits and engine rooms helping his employees. He carried a blaster and dyna hammer at his belt, and his hands were as callused as any man (or woman for that matter) in his company. He ate what his employees ate, and lived how his employees lived. Out on the Rim, where it was all too easy for corporations to take advantage of their fellow sentient...well, it had earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow workers.

"Overseer", or rather a 0V-CR unit, came to life from the meeting room's corner. Standing stock still, it had been patched into the Collaboration's comm array, communicating with LIKON corporate HQ on Cotellier.
<<Velabri. Mountainous terrain. Identifies as a six point zero five on the ore index for valuable resources. Populated by near-human species of the same name; renown for warrior aggression, strong sense of honor and justice, white hair and eyes, pointed teeth. The Velabri despise crime and cowardice. The Velabri Lancers are a collection of their greatest warriors, and are formidable in combat. A long history of enslavement under the Imperial Era, with a slow reconstitution to present day.>>

"They're survivors. They gotta be, living out on the Rim. Same as back home on Cotellier." There was no small amount of respect in Roth's voice as he spoke, pulling up an image of a Velabri on his pad. "Tell me about their current politics."

<<Currently a new regime is installed by Her Royal Highness Queen Kara Regis. Velabri society is undergoing a metamorphosis of sorts; it has thrived under monarchical rule, but there is dissent. There are rumors of a potential civil war brewing - but this is something the monarchy has squashed time and time again. It is also, of course, about to become territory of the Elysium Empire.>>

"Elysium." Roth spoke the word with equal parts wariness and eagerness. They had sprung up like weeds out here in the Rim, and they were quickly amassing territory. They were a ways from Cotellier yet, but...well, time would tell. It was a large part as to why Roth was here at Velabri; laying down ties and economic agreements with individual planets was going to be key to opening up larger negotiations with the Empire itself. "Open up a channel to Velabri, extend a standard diplomatic hail. Let's see if we can find some common ground."

======================================================

The Spirit of Collaboration opened a standard hail on diplomatic frequencies, meaning the message should be quickly routed to someone of authority on the planet.

<<"Greetings, from LIKON Corporation. We are the corporatocratic rules of Cotellier by majority ownership, seeking to create friendly economic collaboration between Cotellier and other Outer Rim worlds. We hope to meet with your government, and discuss ways in which we could mutually benefit from each other.">>

Within the Royal Palace that was built high on a hillside within Capitol City, in the West wing where the library and coveted religious ceremonies were held, through the outer cooridors which gave the perfect view over the city itself, The Queen was dressed elegantly in a Red Royal gown accompanied by her Royal guard, Almonier and several servants. It was common for her travels to be accompanied by individuals close to her or in service for her protection amongst other things. Royalty meant sacrifice in a lot of ways..And this was no different. As she bowed slightly to several librarians as they approached her circle.

"Evening your Highness! A pleasure to be in your Royal presence! Our archives have been updated with the most revelent information in regards to the Velabrian culture and bloodline as requested. Is there anything else we may assist you with?" The chief librarian asked while holding his elongated beard to the right side and bowing in front of her.

"No Sir Pecorum. That will be all..Your timing is second to none...As I was just taking a stroll to the courtyard! I am happy to hear the news..Keep in contact with our research team as exploration further South is needed." She smiled and nodded back to him respectfully. She would then move on as the others followed.

At the Inner palace inside the council command center that was flooded with security cameras from drones and live feed from all over the planet, and incoming transmisson was dispatched directly to the security command.

" Greetings LIKON Corporation. This is Admiral Ri-Noh, Governmental Authority of Capitol City, under the Velabrian rule of her Highness Queen Regis. Your vehicle has been identified and scanned for data and credentials. Landing bay 24-B is North West..50 clicks from your location. Feel free to land and we will escort you to the inner city where you will find our City hall." He spoke before transmitting directions to the landing port hangar bay to Roth Likonis Roth Likonis navigational programming.

Meanwhile...Admiral Ri-Noh turned to one of his generals.... "
Amp up the security detail..Safe measures...That cruisers coming in with escorts..." He commands while looking on in observation through the eyes of several robotic sphere droids that are capturing the footage from the skies above.

Feel free to land and we will escort you to the inner city where you will find our City hall."

<<"Instructions acknowledged, Admiral, we are making our descent now. Our ETA is estimated at twenty minutes.">>

The Captain of the ship clicked the comms off before instructing the pilot to take a somewhat meandering flightpath to landing bay 24-B; he wanted to give Mr. Likonis a few minutes of preparation. Hitting the ship intercom, he informed the rest of the ship. "This is your Captain speaking - we are cleared for landing by governmental authority. Estimated time of arrival...twenty minutes."

======================================================

Roth listened to the announcement intently, eventually shaking his head and standing. Truth be told, he hadn't carried out too many of these negotiations in person - it was also the first time that he was going to meet with a planetary authority, as opposed to another corporation. "I, uh...how do I look?"

The droid, to its credit, took in Roth's appearance a beat before answering. "Functional, Sir."

"You're absolutely no help." Muttered Roth as he stood to his feet. Making his way to his quarters, he slipped his rough work boots off and slipped on a set of polished black boots. The clothing he kept the same, save for a crimson saava silk baldric, which he wore from left shoulder to right hip. Albeit expensive, the silk baldric was relatively plain, save for two chromium pins attached to it - one was the LIKON Corporation logo, the other the double moon symbol of Cotellier. "That's...somewhat dignified." Using the fresher, he ran a comb through his hair, trimmed his beard, and was quick to toss the cigarra into the disposal. He could smoke later. "Right...showtime."

======================================================

The C-ROC slowly set down in landing bay 24-B, its landing structs extending and the craft setting heavily down - coolant venting all the while. Behind it, the four TIE/mgs set down as well, their wings folding in half and their own landing gear deploying, though their pilots made no move to exit their fighters.

The Spirit of Collaboration's ramp descended, and Roth Likonis exited, polished boots clicking, baldric gleaming. To the side, the 0V-CR walked a respectful pace behind the executive carrying a small diplomatic case, as did two human guards in blast armor, wielding what looked to be two (largely ceremonial) long blasters tipped with electro-bayonets.

The ramp lowering, the small procession walked down the ramp and into the bay proper before coming to a stop.
"Right...best behavior everyone." Muttered Roth under his breath.

As the group proceeded down the ramp they notice security walking around with vigilance scanning every individual through the entry gate into the city. As Roth Likonis Roth Likonis and his crew approach the guard asks for his ID for verification as he looks at his traveling companions.

"I'll need credentials and the nature of your visit for verification if you don't mind sir." He gestures as the loud sounds of other vessels landing can be heard clearly throughout the area. Velabri was a popular destination for tourists and foreign species alike, so naturally, the loading bay and docking area was constantly bombarded with traffic.

Velabri seemed a busy place, full of tourism and a bustling populace; the noise was no bother to the Cotellieri, as energy drills and excavation equipment were much louder. The hustle and bustle, though, was a little odd - Cotellier was a barren planet full of mining platforms, grim faced families, and freighter traffic. A far cry from an actual terrestrial world with cities and a population.

"I'll need credentials and the nature of your visit for verification if you don't mind sir."

Roth nodded and fished an identicard out of his jacket, presenting it to the security personnel. The small square would have his biometric data, diplomatic credentials as a governmental authority on Cotellier, as well as his personal chaincode. "Diplomatic visit, economic negotiations and opening of formal relations between Velabri and Cotellier." Roth didn't move to hand over the diplomatic case he was holding; the cases were typically immune from search and seizure, and he tapped the side of it conspicuously. "I claim diplomatic immunity." He didn't expect any issues - diplomatic credentials were typically well respected, even out here on the Rim. That, and he was relatively well known as businessman and ore-monger. He did, however, hold out his sheathed dynahammer and HF-94 for the security personnel to put in their storage lockers.

The guard takes a look at his credentials including eying the diplomatic case in hand. Patting him down quickly as per the usual routine he allows him passage.

"Diplomatic immunity...heh....You wouldn't be the first. You may pass. Welcome to Capitol City. place weapons in this cargo container here to your left. Your ID number for retrieval in the locker hub is 2245 Mr.Likonis. Enjoy your stay...You'll find the city hall in the center of the city..."

The guard wearing Capitol police enforcer Armor lets him by and nods with a notion to pass after he stores his weapons.

Roth nodded, taking in the security; they were well armored, and seeing a Velabri in person was...well, quite interesting honestly. "They'd make great miners." Thought Roth to himself as he and his entourage proceeded forward and placed their various weapons in the cargo container - except his guards of course. "I wonder if the economy would support local mining efforts."

Silently Roth moved forward, lost in thought - the guards and the droid followed behind, only interrupting to offer advice on different routes or streets. They could have taken a robohack or autotaxi, but Roth always rpeferred to breathe the air and walk on the ground - it was the best way to take a planet's measure, along with its people. The Velabri were hardy, stout, and robust - he could see the influence of honor and their warrior culture everywhere.
"Remind me to get a keepsake. A piece of art or...something."

Coming to city hall at the center of the city, Roth walked the steps to the entrance before pausing, addressing a nearby official. "Roth Likonis. Diplomat. I was told we may conduct our business here?"

Queen Kara Regis Queen Kara Regis

The city official would take a glance at him and point down the narrow cooridor narrow corridor leading to an archway that would be the opening of a room. Many patrons dressed and carrying briefcases were walking to and from, like a sea of freighters in traffic.

"Ah!" Another approaching man called out making his way towards Roth Likonis Roth Likonis . "There you are! We were told you were coming! Heheh..Welcome to Velabri! Home of the beautiful, brave and iconic Men and Women that serve the galaxy in the name of peace! My name is Joran . N...Nice to meet you! Please come come! I am the Ambassador for trading regulations and Business propositions. Mr. Greher, I will take it from here....Let's walk and talk!" He jestures with a smile under his thick bristled mustache with excitement.

Roth inclined his head. "Mr. Greher, a pleasure." As he walked, Roth took in the grand architecture of Velabri. Inwardly, Roth thought it all something of a waste of resources - but, then, city centers and palaces and places of government had to be grand, didn't they? Its not like the rest of the galaxy operated out of an executive suite like he did. Roth, if anything, was known for being a little too...practical. "Mr. Greher, on behalf of LIKON, thank you for meeting with us. We've traditionally done business in the Sanrafsix Corridor, but are quite keen to expend operations into the Western Reaches and the Trailing Sectors." As he spoke, Roth handed the man a datapad - it detailed a summary of LIKON operations, which mostly focused on mining, manufacturing, and shipping / mass transportation. Its profits were modest, but it would be obvious that the company had been struggling with pirates and raiders; a persistent and pervasive problem for businesses out on the Rim.

As he examined the datapad all the while listening to Roth Likonis Roth Likonis and his explanation of the Sanrafsix Corridor and the other hyperspace lanes used for trade, a thought occurred to him. The routes traveled were obviously dangerous, and profits were never a solid guarantee. Indeed Pirates, radiers and smugglers would always have a vested interest in transport vehicles traveling to and from along those planetary routes.

"Why yes...I completely agree when it comes to expansion of operations, as new alliances are needed to maintain a strong base of operations along those routes. Our Lady Regis has held several meetings with the council of Capitol City to see what our options are. Unfortunately, Pirates and undercover operatives..Heck, even double agents have made it hard to commit to such deals with representatives as yourself. Uhhh..Tell me Mr. Likonis, what makes what you bring to the table different from all of our "Other" prospective business partners? And what would you say are your major exports?" He asks while his brow is lowered squinting at the data pad once again curiously.

"Our reputation, mainly." Said Roth, sociably. Now that his initial awkwardness had worn off, he was finding that diplomacy really wasn't all that different from a boardroom negotiation. Each party had its own interests - the goal of the negotiator was to find where those interests intersected. "As you said, piracy, saboteurs, operatives...it makes life hard on all of us. LIKON has a reputation, though, of honesty and a willingness to collaborate. Ask any major shipping company on Sanrafsix, the primary deep southern trade corridor."

The words were true - as true as they could be on the Rim. A neutral entity, LIKON tried not to trample on anyone or be overtly greedy and despotic in its dealings. That wasn't to say the corporation wasn't motivated purely by profit, as it most assuredly was, but rather that it saw positive relations and relative honesty as a worthwhile longterm investment.

"Beyond that, what we offer is potential for expanding your infrastructure at low cost, the creation of jobs, and of mutual security. What we deal in, Mr. Greher, is virtually every fabricated and synthetic material and metal; if it's something we don't outright fabricate, then we make a compound or element needed to make it. If it's made on the Rim, a part of it, no matter how small, came from our foundries." That sounded impressive, and it was - they processed millions of tons of ore a month; there was a catch of course. "The kicker is...we exist on the extreme southern edge of the galaxy. We're the last stop on the hyperoute. A third of our convoys are raided and lost - the others require such significant protection that it eats into our profits substantially."

Roth snorted. "There's a reason Cotellier isn't compared to Mygeeto, Mr. Greher. Remoteness. When it comes down to it, we're too remote to be truly profitable. Core profitable. Which means we have to rely on ourselves - and others like us. To us...the Velabri seem like a good fit."

Queen Kara Regis Queen Kara Regis

"Well then...You definitely come strong with a directive and a good proposition i might add! Tell you what, Let me present this before the council and Our Lady Regis hmmm? See if it fits our particular puzzle. Not to be cryptic...But a Wookiee doesn't change it's diet just because what it doesn't eat looks appetizing." His brow would arch up and down attempting his version of humor before stopping a moment. "And here we are. I've uploaded all the necessary info to our database and along with a case file, I'm sure i can have this presented to the Queen and council within the hour. Any plans while you are here Roth Likonis Roth Likonis ?"

Any plans while you are here?

"Only work" Replied Roth simply. "I look forward to your Queen's thoughts on our propositions - LIKON has come a long way, but it could go further yet." Nodding at the man, he turned and walked back down the steps of the city hall, guards and droid following.

"I detect a fair probability of success." Offered the droid, once they were a ways away.

"Possibly. It's a little too early to tell." Answered Roth, coming to a stop. As he spoke, a comlink beeped from deep within his pocket, and fishing it out he groaned at the caller ident. "Victor Algernot." Even the guards snickered at the name, and Roth could only shake his head. "Better take this privately...lets head back to the ship."

Down the large corridor of the west wing, near the countryside, the Queen asked to be alone. It wasn't uncommon for her to take some time to herself and gaze upon the stars at night, or watch the flying vessels that populated the skies heavily. She would always take time to reflect and decide her next course of action. Or take her time to do nothing related to running a kingdom. Or in her case..Queendom. As she walked towards the balcony, now overlooking Capitol City, she reflects on her upcoming travel arrangements. She was scheduled to see a representative of the K.O.T. academy on Corellia. But before she leaves, she had an announcement to make addressing the inner court of her household. It was a message that would be uncomfortable, but needed, in order to set the direction and future of Capitol City. As she thought to herself, and let out a sigh...She thought of her brother. A man of few words..Well..selective words when they counted most. She could use his advice right now. But he was on a recon mission for the Queen. escorting a team of scientists on the planet Felucia, in search of rare plants that have medicinal purposes. For now..She had to be brave and do what leaders do. Take charge.

After a few moments, she would begin her march towards the capitol awning where her public announcements were made. Surely the reporters were there and eagerly awaiting the Queen's address to the planet. Her famous "state of the union" speech was about to begin.

(Meanwhile...A reporter that covers all the Local news within the kingdom would adjust her microphone and prepare for her live broadcast.)

As Kara approached she saw the sea of registered nobles and authoritative figures as well as some investors she recognized before from previous dealings. She would wave as holocrons were held high and low capturing her movements. She was then escorted by her royal guards up the stairway to the podium. As her smile slowly faded she turned to the crowd before her that anxiously awaited her speech. One of the guards would attach a retractable ear microphone to Kara as two large projector screens cast from Arial Droids . would illuminate brightly.

"My dear Velabrians, we have endured a sensible period of peace for quite some time now. Under my rule as your Queen, I have ensured economic stability, increased our import and export trade, and most importantly..Restored our militia back to its former glory with the creation and utilization of mecha droids to have the construction of our walls completed at an incredible pace never seen before. We have made great strides together....However..Things have come to my attention that cannot be ignored and thus for the time being...I must take a leave of absence from the Capitol. During a pilgrimage that I will undergo, the house representatives will still be in place and take care of matters as usual. In my absence, Mr. Pinot will be the commanding officer and King. I am unsure how long this will be, but rest assured..I shall return as quickly as possible. Thank you."

Screeching through the thin clouds of the atmosphere, the Titan-X takes a wide turn heading towards the coordinates of Capitol city. But the atmosphere was different. It was a murky orange with a smog-like appearance over the plains, the outskirts of the city, and upon approach towards the hangar bay. What was even more shocking would be the slight decay of the capitol as buildings were broken and smog ran thick over the city. Queen Regis was in shock at the horrid picture before her. She could not believe what she was seeing with her very own eyes. It was a nightmare. It had to be. But something would make it even worse. As she was expecting a smooth landing, even that would be different as several red beams were targeting her vessel. Heavy cannon fire erupted as she approached and she had to turn away suddenly but not with a clean escape. The right-wing was clipped and on fire as smoke trailed behind her leaving a trajectory. She was able to maneuver about a mile out before coming to a semi-crash landing in a gorge. And it wouldn't be far enough as she feared whatever was aiming at her would be in persuit of her shortly. The hissing sounds and mechanical sparks grew louder as the image of her damaged ship would appear on her hub screen indicating where the severe damage was.

"You have got to be kidding me! This is outrageous! Do they not know who I am? Even with no communication. Who would not recognize the Titan-X? What is going on here?!" She yelled aloud as she was angry, confused but most of all...Worried something bad happened to her city.

Hilal exited out of hyperspace her alarms blaring throughout her Starship the Hyperdrive was overheated and needed to be cooled down. "The new Hyperdrive is working like a charm," she smiled. A week ago, Hilal bought a new Hyperdrive specifically a SSP05 hyperdrive generator. It was notable for having multiple advanced charge planes as well as effect channels. This made jumping to hyperspace longer and more efficient, Hilal was testing the drive's limits to see how far she go could in space in a few amount of jumps. Turned out, Hilal could reach the other side of the Galaxy in just 3 jumps.

"DVA," Hilal said to her Droid, her faithful Droid companion stood on the control panel, his electrical cord connected to the socket communicating with the ship's computer. "Begin cooldown protocols, I'm going to take us back-"

Just then more alarms were heard this time from the ship's Navi computer. Frowning, Hilal saw a distress call coming from a planet just ahead of them. "The planet: Velobri," Hilal said reading the scans. "Looks like someone is sending a distress call?"

DVA gave a few whistles just as confused as Hilal was. "I guess we can check it out," Hilal said pressing a couple switches to fire up the engines. "It looks like a lively planet based on the description. Ruled by some Queen as well, maybe she can offer some work If I help her out?"

DVA beeped happily while Hilal chuckled. "Right then," Hilal said beginning to accelerate the ship. "Let's get moving."

And with that, the ship entered Velobri's atmosphere and began looking for distress call.

As Kara stumbled through the gorge she would hit her comms device once more. The signal had been sent. It was encrypted and had limited range, but had already received an incoming transmission. "He...Hello? Is anyone there? This is Qween Kara Regis of Valabri. I am 50 clicks West of Capital City...Hello?" She frantically uttered the words while in observation of her surroundings. She then remembered to keep calm...While away..She was taught something during her pilgrimage to the ancestrial tomb of the Dathomir witches. As she closed her eyes and began to focus..She stretched out her right hand and could sense the nonorganic droids heading in her direction. Her eyes opened quickly with a light purple hue. She would then see the bones of a carcass not too far in the distance. It gave her an idea.
