- Multirole - The Velocity-class is capable of supporting the three most commonly used means of communications: hyperspace, subspace, and Holonet.
- Secure - While boasting fairly low amounts of physical security, the Velocity-class sports an advanced encryption module built for extremely high-bandwidth communications in addition to network security droids that constantly monitor the traffic.
- Simplistic - The design of these waystations is mechanically simplistic, allowing for an easier time when constructing them or maintaining them.
- [+] Multirole Transceivers: The transceivers on these bad boys are capable of supporting the three most commonly used communications mediums. Integrated droid brains and heuristic processors allow for greater transport speeds and exceptionally efficient bandwidth usage. The goal is fast communications with 24/7 availability.
- [+] Secure Communications: Equipped with a high-traffic capable encryption module and constant network security monitoring, contracted organizations can rest assured that their long-range communications are very secure.
- [+] Automated: The stations themselves and the minimal manning they possess is entirely automated. Efficient droid brains and high quality droids staff these waystations allow for precise action without the need of life support systems, tons of maintenance, and can operate at maximum effectiveness at all times.
- [-] Very Light Defenses: The physical defenses to these stations are minimal. The lasers they possess are low-grade, meant to destroy spacial debris or small anomalies if they pose a threat to the station. A single, determined starfighter could probably neutralize a Velocity-class.
- [-] Unmoving: These things don't move either. Even the slightest adjustment requires a hyperspace tug to be requested from Aegis Systems.
- [-] Automated: Who knows what'll happen if you leave all of these droids in one place for a long time without memory wipes? Aegis Systems assures all customers that their products are very sustainable, but that's just a bold claim on their part.
This is Aegis Systems first venture into the shipbuilding enterprise in cooperation with Jaeger Solutions. Focusing entirely on providing the galaxy with sustainable, fast, and secure communications is their primary goal in this pursuit. Now introducing: the Velocity-class Waystation.
First and foremost, the profile of this station is fairly small. While larger than most freighters or other relay buoys, this one is intended to be larger than most orbital relays. The Velocity-class is approximately three hundred meters in height, and around eighty meters in both length and width. An elongated and sleek profile makes it perfect for remaining unnoticed and disregarded in high-traffic areas.
The capabilities the Velocity-class provides are enormous. Sporting hyperspace, subspace, and holonet transceiver relays, this station's primary function is to provide sustainable, fast, and secure communications for any world or system it's located in. High-bandwidth connections to other buoys and relays along with high-traffic capable encryption modules ensure that all communications are safe and secure. Overseen by a series of integrated droid brains that posses heuristic processors, these overseers are able to efficiently manage all connections or adjust their transceiver positions based on the amount of traffic they face. Operating under these brains are a small team of network security droids, who work around the clock to assist in maintaining high availability and monitoring all traffic for breaches.
Defensively, the Velocity-class doesn't spare much in that department. Only a pair of automated laser cannons have been mounted entirely for the purpose of protecting the station from wayward spacial debris or other small anomalies. On the inside, there is a small automated defense system of ray shields, socketguards, and automated turrets that assist the network security droids in the event of a direct breach. Civilian-grade deflector shields and ionic shielding help protect the vessel from ion storms and debris that their turrets cannot defend against.
Conclusively, the Velocity-class Waystation is the perfect choice for any planetary or interplanetary government that intends on providing their citizens with the best communications connections in the galaxy. Sustainable, fast, and secure.
