Description: Velok's winter gear is made up of numerous, overlapping small pelts, sewn together using traditional methods. Due to the creereen's unique Force-related abilities, as discussed under 'Primary Source,' Velok's winter gear provides unusual insulation against sonic weaponry. Similarly, it allows him to use sound-related Force abilities, such as Force Bellow, while lessening risk to nearby associates. The partial protection only applies to those who have some kind of Force-bond with him, such as family, apprentices, or close associates. Naturally, the benefit is less effective if his associate is directly in the path of the technique, at point-blank range, etc.
Velok's alchemical treatment, comparable to the rituals involved in his knives, allowed him to instill the creereen's Force-related unique qualities into the animals' hides. As such, the process is comparable to your average Akure Executive Interstellar product, just uglier.
Primary Source: The creereen is found in the 'Savage Spirit' sourcebook for 'Force and Destiny'.
"Small, flight-capable mammals that dwell in tight-knit nesting groups of up to a dozen individuals, creereen survive the attention of predators through their mobility and alertness. When trouble is spotted, the rodent-like flyers are able to alert their entire family group with a powerful shriek that disorients predators. This warning calls upon an innate connection with the Force to amplify the cry's volume in the ears of predators, while shielding other nearby creereen from negative effects.
"Animal trainers who have worked with these creatures have found that once creereen accept them or other designated individuals, the creatures can shield members of other species from their shriek as well. This trait means that while creereen are too easily frightened to serve as true guard animals, there is still a market for trained creereen or even full nesting groups that can serve as living alarm systems."
