- Slave-Rigged — The Venator Allanteen-class has been equipped with an extensive slave circuit system which has significantly reduced the amount of labor required to operate this large vessel.
- Medical Ops — The Venator Allanteen-class has been equipped with a medical bay that is well-stocked and prepared to provide comprehensive service to those onboard.
- Heavy Armaments — The weapon emplacements of the Venator Allanteen-class are concentrated around the bridge towers and along the broadsides of the ship. Among these weapons include eight Sextuple Barbette Heavy Mass-Driver Cannons, four barbettes starboard-, and four barbettes port-side. Under the right conditions these weapons can cause devastating damage and are the primary weapons of the Venator Allanteen-class.
- Targeting System Jamming — The Venator Allanteen-class has been equipped with a erebus jamming array which can be used to interfere with the targeting systems of opposing ships to try and reduce the accuracy of their long-ranged barrages.
- Focal Shield — Whenever the Venator Allanteen-class receives a sustained barrage from a single direction, the shield force multiplier kicks in, and will concentrate the available deflector shield energy to generate a focused, reinforced barrier, capable of withstanding an impressive amount of sustained enemy fire.
- Backup Bridge — The Venator Allanteen-class has two towers, one on starboard which serves as command information center, and one one port which serves as the flight control server. When the starboard tower is taken out of commission, it's sister tower is designed to assume emergency control over some of the ship's functions.
- Multi-Layered Armor
- Tough Armor — The carbon-nanofilament armor plating and damage reduction armor component that are holdovers of the days when the Venator Allanteen-class was a warship provides the vessel some sturdiness against enemy fire.
- EMP Resistance — The extensive use of Tridurium around the hull of the Venator Allanteen-class, alongside the faraday cage components, has insulated the vessel from most phenomena that might cause electrical disturbances. This could be anything from a electromagnetic storm to ion cannon weaponry.
- Radiation Resistance — The interior sections of the Venator Allanteen-class have been lined with agrinium which provides the crew an additional layer of protection from the dangerous effects of radiation that can be encountered when a ship loses its shields.
- Interdiction Warning — The Venator Allanteen-class has been equipped with a gravity well early detection system which allows this vessel to detect an approaching gravity well in hyperspace when traveling along well-established hyperlanes. This technology provides the ship with the option to drop-out of hyperspace early.
- Hangar Doors — The Venator Allanteen-class has been equipped with an impressive pair of hangar doors which constitute seventy-five percent of the ship's dorsal section. When the Venator Allanteen-class opens these hangar doors, it can unleash it's entire complement all-at-once.
- Hangar Space — The Venator Allanteen-class has an increased capacity to carry small craft.
- Speed — The Venator Allanteen-class is among the faster ships in it's weight bracket.
- Gulfstream — The Venator Allanteen-class was equipped with the gulfstream maneuvering system which uses gravitationally-enhanced gyroscopic stabilizers to increase maneuverability at the expense of speed (Maneuverability: Average to High, Speed: High to Average)
- Microjump — This ship has been equipped with a microjump capacitor which allows the vessel to make a minuscule jump through hyperspace. This technology can be used to travel anywhere from 10,000 km to 1-full parsec.
- Drop Pods — The Venator Allanteen-class has been equipped with AT-RD Drop Pods which can be launched to rapidly deploy a preliminary force planet-side to establish a secure landing zone.
- Probes — The Venator Allanteen-class has come equipped with a complement of thirty-six Skyeye Probe Droids which can be launched to investigate nearby systems.
- Exposed Rear — The ion engines of the Venator Allanteen-class are exposed and lack any weapon emplacements to deter enemy harassment. This leaves this sensitive part of the ship vulnerable to exploitation. Once half the ship's ion engines have been damaged or destroyed, this ship loses a significant amount of it's speed and maneuverability (Maneuverability: Average to Very Low, Speed: High to Low).
- Exposed Bridge Towers — Protruding from the main hull of the ship are a pair of towers, which includes the starboard tower which served as the command information center, and the port tower which served as the flight control center. The destruction of either of these bridges could cause devastating harm. The destruction of the former would push the ship’s trajectory out of control with the loss of the ship’s steering, while the latter would remove the ship’s means of coordinating with its complement. The destruction of both would neutralize the vessel.
- Shield Force Multiplier Dishes — Located on top of each bridge tower is a rotary dish that serves as a conduit for the shield force multiplication system. Damage or destruction to both dishes would knock out the system and reduce the effectiveness of the ship's shields (Defenses: High to Average).
- Gravity Well Early Warning Antenna — Flanking each bridge tower is an alusteel antenna which provides the ship the ability to receive early warning when it’s approaching a gravity well in hyperspace. A couple of concussive strikes could knock out these antennas, and deny this ship access to this advance system.
- Heavy Armaments — The offensive power of the Venator Allanteen-class is chiefly contained in its sextuple barbette heavy mass-driver cannons. The destruction of half these weapon emplacements through well-placed explosives or a series of concussive strikes would greatly reduce the offensive power of this ship (Armament: Average to Very Low).
- Dorsal Point Defense — The Venator Allanteen-class has a matching pair of point defense turrets every fifty meters along the length of the dorsal section of the ship. Once the enemy has taken out enough of these turrets (10 toward the bow), the entire main hull of the ship becomes susceptible to a bomber run. A single heavy bomber could cause devastating damage to this capital ship.
- Motors Control Units— Located on the dorsal section of the Venator Allanteen-class, toward the bow-end of the ship, are hangar doors which contain the flight deck. These doors are opened via a series of motor control units, which are made mostly from alusteel and electrical components. A series of concussive strikes, or well-placed explosives, could either damage or destroy these motor control units and prevent the Venator Allanteen-class from either opening or closing these hangar doors (Hangar Space: Very High to Average). Unlike the rest of the ship, these motor control units are also susceptible to EMP attacks.
- Broadside Trench — Situated along the broadsides, between the rows of heavy-hitting weapon emplacements, is a trench that runs the width of the ship. A starfighter could could avoid the quad laser cannon turrets on the main hull by taking cover in the trench. Additionally, they could afflict damage on the weapon emplacements that flank both sides of the trench (Armament: Average to Low).
- Ventral Vulnerability — Unlike the dorsal section of the ship which requires some work on the part of enemy combatants, the ventral section of the Venator Allanteen-class completely lacks in any weapon emplacements. This leaves the entire main hull on this side of the ship vulnerable to enemy attack.
- Repulsor Lifts — The Venator Allanteen-class has thirty-six repulsor lifts installed on the ventral section of the main hull. Each of these devices resembles a dish which takes on a blurry appearance when activated. These repulsor lifts are what allow the Venator Allanteen-class to remain suspended-in-the-air once it's entered a planet's atmosphere. When enough of these have been damaged or destroyed ( 9 repulsor lifts), the Venator Allanteen-class will start to involuntarily descend. At this point the ship will need to either to leave the planet's atmosphere or find a location to land. When the enemy have managed to damage or destroy half or more of the repulsor lifts, the Venator Allanteen-class will lose the ability to leave the planet's atmosphere and will descend far too quickly to use its landing gear - instead the vessel will have to find a place to make a crash landing.
- Drop Tube — Installed where the ventral hangar once was located is a single launch tube designed to deploy AT-RD drop pods. Exposed and unprotected, a couple of well-placed shots from a heavy laser cannon could damage or destroy this ship's ability to rapidly deploy its ground forces planet-side.
- Slave Rigged
- Slicing— Because a significant portion of the Venator Allanteen-class's systems have been fully automated, this ship has gained an increased vulnerability to Slicing.
- Naval Boarding — One downside with having so many systems fully-automated through a slave circuit system is suddenly there's a lot fewer people around. This leaves the Venator Allanteen-class more vulnerable to naval boarding and made it easier for people to stowaway onboard.
- Hemisphere Firing Arc — The armaments of the Venator Allanteen-class are located along the broadsides and the dorsal section of the ship. No weapon emplacements were installed on the ventral section. Because of this fact, when engaged in ship-to-ship combat, the Venator Allanteen-class must work to prevent an enemy from getting into a position directly beneath the ship's hull.
- Erebus Jamming Array
- Optimal Jamming Range — The the Erebus Jamming Array operates best when the enemy ships are at a far distance. As the enemy draws nearer, the array's effectiveness at misdirecting enemy fire correspondingly decreases.
- Signal Interference — The Erebus Jamming Array becomes ineffective under certain environmental conditions. When the Venator Allanteen-class enters a nebula or similar space phenomena, the surrounding radiation and matter can weaken the array's ability to connect with and mislead enemy targeting systems.
- Focal Shield
- Lopsided Shield — When the Venator Allanteen-class is receiving a sustained barrage from a single direction, the Shield Force Multiplier will cause deflector shields to concentrate around that spotting, leaving the other areas of the ship minimally shielded.
- Irregularity Shield Exploitation — The focal shield being generated by the Shield Force Multiplier requires the enemy to sustain a constant barrage. When an opposing ship fires too infrequently, this prevents the Shield Force Multiplier from activating.
- Multidirectional Shield Exploitation — When the Venator Allanteen-class receives an enemy barrage from multiple directions, the Shield Force Multiplier gets scrabbled, and is unable to create a focal shield. This means Starfighters could work in tandem with a capital ship to collapse the focal shield being generated by the Shield Force Multiplier by hitting the armored frigate from multiple angles.
- Backup Bridge — When the port bridge tower is forced to take control of the ship because the starboard bridge tower has been lost, some of the important functions they lack, include the ability to communicate with the crew of their own weapon emplacements, and the ability to jam the enemy's communications.
- Hangar Bays — When the Venator Allanteen-class launches smaller craft, the titanium blast doors are wide open, and the only thing separating the hangar from the vacuum of space are magnetic shields. These magnetic shields allow physical objects like shuttles and other support craft to leave the hangar bay, but on the flipside, can also let concussion strikes in once the deflector shields are down.
- Interdiction Warning — The Venator Allanteen-class can only use the Gravity Well Early Warning System when traveling along a well-established hyperlane with millennia of astronomical data to pull from (i.e. canon hyperlanes, see link). This technology can only be used when the ship is traveling to systems that are directly situated along a hyperlane pathway.
- Gulfstream
- Gravity Flux — When the Gulfstream Maneuvering System is activated creates a signature that is can be easily detected from a great distances by standard sensor systems.
- Reduced Speed — When the Gulfstream Maneuvering System is activated, the ship decreases in speed to increase its maneuverability.
Following the collapse of the Core Imperial Confederation, many of their former Venator-class attack cruisers had been slated to be scrapped. Seeing an opportunity, the leadership at the Federal Cooperative would buy up the majority of the attack cruisers and relocate them to their deep space shipyards. There they would begin the process of refitting them.
Because the Venator-class was designed to serve as a battlecarrier, the process of refitting the ship was noticeably easier than work on other well-established designers. There were entire levels and vast areas that were vacant – intended to serve as flight decks and storage space, these areas soon became the canvas for the FedCo engineers’ imaginations.
In total the Federal Cooperative would end-up developing five variants from the Venator-class, which would include the following:
- Venator Commenor-class Freight Carrier
- Venator Kashyyyk-class Environmental Cruiser
- Venator Samaria-class Medical Cruiser
- Venator Kessel-class Interdictor Cruiser
- Venator Allanteen-class Attack Cruiser
