Classification: Lake Side Cabin
Location: Aldera, Lake Country
Affiliation: Vereen-Organa Family
Intent: A house for Draco and Faith
Development Thread:
The home of Faith Organa and Draco Vereen sits in the lower part of the mountainous region of Aldera, overlooking a lake, surrounded by forests and trees. The home is secluded with only a few paths by land through the forests for speeders, and one inlet to the lake by sea. Faith and Draco wanted a place they could run off to and be alone, tucked off in their own little corner of the world without being completely cut off from the outside like the Retreat. The area around the homestead has a series of perimeter sensor beacons to monitor incoming traffic. Native flora and fauna have been allowed to grow and thrive around the house unabated, leaving nature to continue without disruption. As far as the pair are concerned, they have done their best to make it as though the home doesn't exist. The only thing separating the wildlife from the home is an invisible stun fence controlled by small miniaturized droid brains. This allows the droids to raise the fence as needed without endangering the family's children or pets, as even the weak setting can be dangerous for an infant or small animal.
The lake itself is a stunning freshwater inlet, kept moderately warm by a series of hot springs that flow into it, though this is really only noticeable in winter time. Springs and Autumns the water is comfortable, and because of the location the lake on Aldera it features mild summers. Winters normally have healthy amounts of snow, normally across several weeks, though because of the mountains blocking the wind, blizzards are rare in the area. The animals in the region are very similar to those found on Alderaan, with wild nerf, Manka Cats, grazers, sea-mice, and stalking birds in the surrounding area. The forests are temperate forests, mostly consisting of evergreens, which provide the few structures some cover from the air.
The lake sits about twenty kilometers from the nearest town, which is fairly small, with numerous small ranches surrounding it. Because of the remote location there are very few unexpected guests that choose to travel across the property line to get to the small private lake when there are other, more popular areas for the locals to visit, and tourism to the region is almost non-existent, aiding the privacy the couple sought out in the rural parts of Aldera.
Near the house, and connected by a series of subterranean tunnels there is an underground hangar, designed to contain the pair's ships for maintenance, refueling, and keeping the ships out of sight when they are idle. The interior of the hangar is lined with sensor blocking substances to keep the idle ships from being picked up on sensors or planetary scans, so as not to draw attention to them. When being launched the doors are open, and the substance is less effective, unable to truly hide ships as they accelerate out of the hangar. When closed only a path leading to the entrance is visible where some vegetation has been cleared, though small brush and bushes have returned. The door is made to fit in with the surrounding landscape. The three kilometer long subterranean tunnel uses a very fast repulsor trolley to transport the family to and from the hangar to the escape tunnels. In emergencies, the Hangar can make use of a catapult pressor to rapidly accelerate the craft housed within, aiding in their escape.
The hangar is manned by a number of labor and maintenance droids, used to repair the ships, refit, rearm, and refuel the pair of small private corvettes, and the quartet of fighters the family makes use of. The hangar has a garage in the rear for extensive repairs or modifications to the ships. While the hangar isn't enormous, it is quite spacious, able to launch one of the yachts at a time or two starfighters, and able to run repairs, refits, and refuel on all craft at the same time.
The house itself is simple and rustic, using modern architecture applications with an older, more natural appearance. The house appears to be a large manor built into the mountain, made from wood and stone, and while wroshyr wood and cut granite from a local quarry have been used for decoration, the house is mostly built from Mandalorian Steel, duracrete, and finely treated wroshyr wood interior. Using more advanced metals and building materials, the structure is much safer, much more secure from natural disasters than other homes. The house is internally powered, and has its own well that it draws water from, purified in a system in the sub-basement, and piped throughout the house. In emergencies, the house can be sealed, turadium plates dropping over doors, windows, vents, and other weak spots, becoming air tight using its own atmosphere processors. The plates are fairly thin, and only offer limited protection for a short time, normally just to keep infantry from being able to kick open doors or go through windows, buying time for the family to escape if need be.
The interior of the home is similarly rustic in appearance, with wroshyr wood floors, delicately sanded smooth and covered in a lacquer to prevent splinters from forming and prevent the flooring from being damaged. Several types of carpeting and numerous rugs are used, depending on the type of room in the fairly large home. The fixtures in the home are simple, normally unpolished brass or silver, whatever matches the particular bathroom's style. The house was decorated by Faith along with her aides, Rebekah and Ana to match the vision the Princess had for her dream escape, with her seeing to the placement of everything, down to choosing the type of lighting for each room.
The home is built with several levels. The first level consists of the floors for living space, with a foyer for greeting guests, an antechamber with a pair of couches for informal meetings and chats, a drawing room for entertaining guests on a more official capacity decorated with several comfortable chairs, sofas, and love seats. Faith has has an office to conduct her business as Senator and Ambassador to the Republic, with a panoramic transparisteel window and her desk, bookshelf with numerous novels, encyclopedia, and the like, and a very fine endorian redwood desk. Her office also has a holocommunication array for her private use, holoterminal, and a private data card in a hidden compartment.
In the families living space there is a den with a holovision screen with a few couches and recliners, a small table, and an end table. The living room is simply a large room with lots of open space, a pair of sofas, a loveseat, and a trio of reclining chairs. Pictures hang on the walls of this room, along with several trophies from Draco's hunts. End tables are situated on either side of each couch with lamps on each table, storage for children's toys, books, or electronics hidden inside each one. A fire place sits on the far end of the room, and above that hangs a larger holoscreen.
The children have a playroom filled with toys, games, a stereo, and child monitoring equipment for once the children are old enough to be left alone for short periods of time. There is a study for the adults, doubling as a small library of books, both electronic and hard copy. Most notably, the study is sound proofed, and does have access to the security feeds from a data terminal. Draco's Ankarres tree is maintained in a sunroom with sunlights feeding the tree and natural grown moss carpeting in the room. It is often used by the warrior for meditation and reflection, an indoor garden for the warrior to center himself when need be, influenced by the peaceful energies produced by the tree.
The back of the house has the dining room, with space enough for twelve at the main table when fully extended, though normally the table is kept shortened to six with the extra chairs in an adjacent storage room. Beside this room there is a full kitchen, its windows looking out to the lake, with a set of french doors opening to the covered back porch. Connected to the dining room there is a sunroom, enclosed from the outside with tall windows and sunlights, a few chairs facing outside and coffee tables in front of them. This room also has an exit to the porch by means of a tall glass flood door. The sunroom's chairs can be adjusted to lay flat, allowing occupants to lay down on them. The back porch overlooks the lake, is covered with a wooden roof and railing. The roof can be retracted on sunny days if the couple so desires.
On the first floor there are a pair of guest rooms with queen sized Alderaanian relaxa-beds for guests comfort. Each room has its own closet for the guests clothes, and the rooms share a full sized bathroom in between them. The nanny has a bedroom at the far end of the hallway, which is equally spacious and simplistic, with the only addition being a holovision screen and a small private bathroom for her use. There is a maintenance room on this side of the house containing a few servant droids and a laundry room with washer and dryer for the family's clothes.
On the second floor there is the master bedroom with attached master bathroom, designed and decorated for the couple's comfort. The king sized relaxa-bed is the primary feature in the room with a recliner and ottoman in the room, an outdoor balcony attached to the rustically decorated room. Faith has a walk-in closet, while Draco settles for a dresser and corner closet for what few clothes he actually has. The outdoor balcony has a retractable roof and a pair of cushioned chairs. The bed is flanked by end tables on each side, with Faith's normally adorned with books, Draco's has one of his dual Light Shield Emitters and a locked drawer with a unloaded pistol and full magazine inside. The master bathroom has a conventional sanisteam shower designed to spray warm water from above and all four sides, and a vortex pool tub big enough for both of them, a fire place sat next to the vortex pool and it was said to be ergonomically designed for comfort and relaxation.
The upstairs has two other bedrooms for the children once they have grown some, a baby room for them while they are infants and toddlers, and a guest room for family members sharing a bathroom with the other rooms. Draco and Faith actually decorated and painted the babies' room themselves, by hand during the construction of the home. It was done as a touch of individuality and personality into the room, a bonding experiment for the pair and their unborn children.
The back stretch of land and the porch are lined with sub-sonic field emitters to keep insects, small pests, rodents, and vermin from the area, though its pitch has no effect on humans or the family pets. Behind the house there is a small boat house, which contains a few small water-based vessels for the families use.
Numerous servant and luxury droids see to the family's every need should they ask of it, though Draco is rather laid back and willing to be served in many cases, he does enjoy being a father and cooking for Faith, just as she prefers to handle the children themselves rather than using the droids, but for a house that large, they simply do not have the time to clean, do laundry, wash vehicles.
Below the living spaces is the second level, a fully furnished basement, made into living space with a workshop, a home theater, a kitchenette, and a bar. The is effectively Draco's man cave, containing his personal space and rooms, though its hardly sectioned off or locked. Draco had a Heavy Gravity Room modified similar to an ADTRS on this level so that he can maintain his physique, however it can be used as a regular exercise room if Faith wanted to set the Gravity back to standard. There are a number of training probes, combat droids, and ASP-19 Battle Droids for Draco's use, using stun blasters, stun batons, and electrostaves. These droids are equipped with repulsor-tech gear to counteract the room's increased gravity, allowing them to maintain full combat functionality while Draco's abilities become heavily suppressed and restricted. Beside this room is Draco's Armory, containing all of his armor and weapons inside, lined with Force Nullification Resin. Each of the more powerful weapons are contained in their own case also lined with high grade nullification resin. Down with these rooms there is a massage parlor for the adults manned with luxury droids, and kept well stocked. The turbolift shaft for the escape tunnel is the first thing that is visible when coming down the stairs of the first floor.
Also on the second level there is a garage with space for two full sized airspeeders and a number of tools. Draco doesn't actually keep a forge on the planet, not willing to risk the exposure to the Dark Side that he is still willing and able to use effectively, but he does keep mechanics tools and such around the house for general maintenance and his workshop has a lot of tools for when he decides to tinker.
The third level is the control level, featuring a security monitoring room, focused on monitoring exterior security cameras, the sensor beacons, the perimeter fence's functionality, the hangar, and most importantly the cloaking device that hides the small complex from sight and sensors. The device is fairly basic, hiding the buildings and surrounding area from view when active, making it appear as though it was just a normal mountain side. This room is always manned and has several logistics droids watching holocameras at all times. The home also features a full sensor suite copied from the Warden-class Sentinel Frigate for detection.
Next to this there is a maintenance room containing four TA5 Lightsaber Droids, normally kept deactivated, but there for emergencies. The Droids are programmed with extensive bodyguard and protection protocols for the family. A Barracks for the family's twelve Guards is across the hall, with a ready room for the small number of guards. They often oversee the monitoring and security for the house while the family is there, and a few are always stationed there. There is also a room for a pair of Draco's warriors from Clan Vereen, with only the inner circle aware of the home's location, much less having been to it.
Finally, there is an emergency shield generator, built only to withstand bombardment and siege long enough for the family and their guards to evacuate, with the generator and reactor found on the fourth level, well below the house. Every precaution has been taken with the reactor to secure it against catastrophic failure so that it would not be a danger to the family while in use. The reactor chamber was lined with Nightshadow in an effort to keep planetary scans and sensors from picking up the unusual high power capabilities of the home, even if the reactor is rarely, if ever strained.
The most defensive part of the house and its grounds, is its remote location. Its a secret that the family owns the property at all, with the staff that live there full time maintaining the home when the family is residing in New Crevasse City. It doesn't receive visitors often, if at all, and normally those are only family members. Even then, few family members are aware of the escape route the family is able to take.
HISTORY
The home has only recently been built to accommodate the budding family, and thus there is very little history to the building. The pair sought for a rustic getaway, and utilized minimal defenses in the building, mostly using equipment to evade detection in the first place rather than attempting to build a fortress to raise their family in.
