Shadow In The Night
Vehicles were further away from this place, in the distance, and little more than passing pinpricks between the trees. Grass danced in the breeze, flowers of all kinds in the midst, from dandelions to tulips and others that were exotic. Benches by the paths, fountains where water splashed, and pedestrians scattered around.
Some were walking, some were working, some were meditating. In one particular area, a clearing surrounded by bushes and trees, was only one woman, in relative privacy, and definitely in solace.
Outside the Jedi temple, this was just one garden in a number on Coruscant, but it was no less special. It was a symbol of greener pastures in this ecumenopolis given to time, whose mountains had faded away, gone like the day and the night. It was just as much a symbol of the Jedi’s serenity, their unity with the galaxy, like duracrete beside trees. A silly notion, maybe, but it might have truth to it.
Today, this garden, this clearing, this field, served as one Jedi’s meditation chamber. She was like a statue, and the garden had those too. Knelt on the ground toward the center, attired in white robes streaked in blue, hood lowered, head bowed, eyes closed.
Her hands rested in her lap, the breeze tickling her hair, her visage, yet steady was her breath.
I am the leaf in the wind. In. I am the drop on the pond. Out. Sensing the elements, molecules.
Alone, not lonely, the Shadow was all but naked in the light, and she welcomed its presence.
Her eyes might be closed, but her mind’s eye was open. She knelt in peace—yet with vigil.
