OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To further develop Lorale Farmar's family line and Vortex Spawn
  • Role: The honor guard of Lorale Farmar meant to protect its master from any and all harm if possible.
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Lorale Farmar, The Scarlet Breed, Kascalion Giedfield
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: Unknown
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User - Does not use the Force, but is presumed to have been a Sith Lord in its life.
  • Species: Sith Undead (Presumed Human or Near-Human)
  • Appearance: Vigilant Salvation appears to be a tall, armored skeleton of humanoid structure with blazing red eyes that denote an ever-watchful gaze.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Vigilant Salvation; The Skeleton; The Honor Guard
  • Loyalties: Lorale Farmar, The Scarlet Breed
  • Wealth: Low - The Skeleton does not appear to require any form of wealth as it is simply a guard for the Wolf of Noxis, Lorale Farmar. Beyond its perpetually clean armor, it does not possess any form of trinkets, banking accounts, or the like.
  • Skills: Defender/Tank, Duelist, Commander Slayer
  • Personality: Completely silent save for whispered grunts of irritation, Vigilant Salvation stands more mysterious than even its master.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: In combat, the Skeleton has been witnessed using its bare hands and a whip-scyth made of ultrachrome that seemingly has the same impact power as its master's old lightsaber, Bittersweet.
  • Combat Function: The Skeleton acts as the main defender for Lorale, soaking up damage with impunity and responding to attacks with an impassive approach, merely swiping and nonchalantly dodging the attacks it chooses to dodge.
STRENGTHS
  • Extremely Durable: The Skeleton has proven to be extremely resistant to physical damage of most kinds. Each blow done to it that it does not dodge has very little effect beyond the base damage and causing a barely audible grunt of annoyance from whatever spirit possesses the walking undead. This is due to both the incredible armor that it wears and the rituals used to forge it.
  • Incredible Strength and Shocking Speed: The Skeleton has proven to have physical strength on par with a Wookie and is able to tear its victims' limb from limb with little difficulty. It has also been shown to have a much greater speed than anticipated and is able to dodge many forms of attacks with relative ease.
  • Resurrection: Like Jargaza Yshu, no matter how many times the Skeleton's body is destroyed, the creature will always show up to defend its master, almost always at the most opportune moments. This has led credence to the idea that Vigilant Salvation, as with most of the unnatural Vortex Spawn, was not created through the standard means of the Sith. In other words, while Vigilant's body may be destroyed again and again, as long as the spirit still lives (and is in top shape) and as long as its creators have the capability to recreate the body again and again, it will always march under the Phoenix's banner when needed.
  • Fear Factor: The Skeleton walks with an unending aura of fear around it, so powerful and potent that even Lorale themselves has admitted to having slight anxiety around it.
WEAKNESSES
  • The Force: Several offensive Force Abilities have proven somewhat effective against the Skeleton. The best ability thus far has been Sever Force, which seemingly banishes whatever being inhabits the Skeleton for a considerable amount of time. Abilities such as Force Crush, Combustion, and Electric Judgement have also proven to have great effects on Vigilant Salvation which has turned the tide in many skirmishes and invasions that its master has participated in. In addition, Force based rituals that counter Sith Alchemy have been confirmed to have potential in destroying the spirit once and for all to prevent it from returning again and again similar to its kin, Jargaza.
  • Decapitation and Head Gear: As the only unarmored part of its body, the Skeleton is vulnerable to decapitation which, when done, will render the creature's body destroyed for an incredible amount of time and has even increased the difficulty its creators face when seeking to recreate it. Lorale and Kascalion have expressed the desire to somehow fix this issue, but have also briefly mentioned in their journals that "it would blind her." Presumably, this means that whatever spirit inhabits the Skeleton would be rendered sightless by helmets and thus incapable of fulfilling its purpose.
  • Constant Destruction: Should the Skeleton's body be destroyed, again and again, the spirit inhabiting each recreated body weakens and can eventually reach the point of being useless and drained.
  • The Eclipsed Star: Mentioned briefly in the Red Book of Noxis in a chapter co-written by Kascalion Giedfield and Telama-Ioul, the Eclipsed Star seems to be an artifact of great power found/forged upon the homeworld of the Noxians, the standard species that hosts the Koignalteth. What this artifact is, and what powers it boasts, is yet another mystery on top of dozens more.
  • Rare to Actually Fight: This is more so a weakness for those who fight alongside it. As its primary duty is to protect its master, it will rarely fight to defend any other ally, often leaving the other Scarlet Breed members in harm's way.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Virtually unknown, with no known origins or history beyond eyewitness accounts, the Skeleton moves with Lorale and Kascalion with a never-ending purpose of guardianship. Yet, even the reason for this purpose is unknown to all, save for the siblings and a select few. Who, or what, Vigilant Salvation is can only be conjectured as their species, method of creation, and location of creation has eluded every scholar in the Sith Empire. Beyond its obvious resistance to damage, and an almost aversion to actual fighting, the Skeleton conjures many mysteries and zero answers.

This is a beautiful submission, both in imagination and to the eyes :) Only a few things we need to fix and tighten up so that we can approve this:

  • Weapon of Choice: In combat, the Skeleton has been witnessed using its bare hands and elongated wrist blades made of ultrachrome that seemingly have the same impact power as its master's old lightsaber, Bittersweet.
Is there a hyperlink for Bittersweet that can be added?

Seemingly Invulnerable: While beings such as Jargaza-Yshu possess healing factors and the ability to revive after death,
Please link to Jargaza-Yshu.

  • Seemingly Invulnerable: While beings such as Jargaza-Yshu possess healing factors and the ability to revive after death, they still take damage, and lots of it. Vigilant Salvation, however, seemingly does not. Each blow done to it that it does not dodge has no visible affect beyond causing a barely audible grunt of annoyance from whatever spirit possesses the walking undead. If knocked down by simple impact and gravity, it will simply rise back to its feet in a matter of milliseconds. This is not to say that it cannot be incapacitated, as the Force seems to have a great effect on the Skeleton if used properly. Several offensive abilities have actually rendered the Skeleton immobile for minutes to an hour, long enough for the enemy to either escape or complete their objective.

The Force: As stated, several offensive Force Abilities have proven to do something against the Skeleton, even if that something is minimal at best. The best ability thus far has seemingly been Sever Force, which clearly banishes whatever being inhabits the Skeleton for but a moment. However, attempts to destroy the body have still proven ineffective.
While I understand the feel and flavor you're going for here, I'm going to have to ask you to edit it - if the only thing that can work is something that will immobile them for minutes to an hour, they're not seemingly invulnerable, but outright indestructible, as well as immortal. There's no problem to keep the terminology of 'seemingly', but the language can't be obsolete and they need to have at least some vulnerabilities.

Does a hyperlink to the Red Book of Noxis exist?

[member="Scherezade deWinter"] Fixed the issues! There is no link for Red Book of Noxis as that is a WIP for the codex. Once I make it, I will do the pre-codex process to add the link if that is alright.

[member="Lorale Farmar"] Hey hey! Sorry for the delay! Most of these edits are great there's just one that we need to revisit:

  • Extremely Durable: While beings such as Jargaza-Yshu possess healing factors and the ability to revive after death, they still take damage, and lots of it. Vigilant Salvation, however, seemingly does not. Each blow done to it that it does not dodge has very little effect beyond minimal damage marks and causing a barely audible grunt of annoyance from whatever spirit possesses the walking undead. This is due to both the incredible armor that it wears and the Sith Magic used to forge it. This is not to say that it cannot be defeated, as the Force seems to have a great effect on the Skeleton if used properly. Several offensive abilities have actually rendered the Skeleton incapacitated for hours on end, and at times days depending on the strength of the opponent.
This is much better than the previous version of what was there, but I need to emphasize that there needs to be a way to destroy them. Making them incapacitated even for days, still leaves them in the immortal category. It's perfect fine if they're incredibly hard to defeat, but if every time they are seemingly defeated they just rise up, then they don't really get defeated.

[member="Scherezade deWinter"] Alright, I think that should cover it. For extra explanation here, basically, Vigilant is immortal in the sense like a magician's guardian beast. As long as the magician can keep remaking the beast, it can never truly die. However, each creation subsequently becomes weaker due to its lingering spirit becoming weaker. Eventually, the beast is useless. Vigilant is like this in that the spirit inhabiting the body becomes weaker and weaker with every ritual it has to endure. At some point, it will become tired and drained and useless. This is explained in a new weakness and the updated weaknesses.

Additionally, should the spirit be captured, it can be destroyed via force rituals.

I also added a new strength to give some idea as to its actual combative potential.

Hopefully these fixes are good! If there still needs a bit more tweaking, let me know.

Submission moved to pre-codex as per writer's request.

Please remember to include a list of changes when you tag a member of codex staff to move the submission back into live judgement.

BobertEZ BobertEZ Hey there! This new version and updates you've done to Vigilant Salvation look shiny and great! Just a few edits I need from you please :)
  • Under Physical Information, in Force Sensitivity, you can leave in the sentence you've written, but please add one of the following: Force Dead, Non-Force User, Untrained Force Sensitive, Apprentice/Padawan, Knight, Master.
  • Under Social Information, under Wealth, you mention the Phoenix. There is no mention or link of that before this. Could you please add a link in or add a few words to explain what the Phoenix is in this context?
  • Under Strengths, please link Jargaza Yshu.
  • Under Weaknesses,
    • please link to Kascalion.
    • The Red Book of Noxis - I know last time we covered this there was a WIP submission. Has the submission since been completed?
    • I do not understand the Rare to Actually Fight weakness. DO you mean that the Vigilant Salvation's allies in combat suffer because he doesn't fight back? Or that they somehow get injured if he does nothing (something about his stare)? Something else?
Once these edits are done please tag me back :)
