Visiting the Ravens

A message was sent across the seemingly infinite ethereal realm know as the holonet. One that moved across the vast void between systems and into [member="Cryax Bane"] 's possession from a ship floating somewhere above Tatooine's northern pole. It was a rather simple message.

"Hello Mr. Bane, I'm Agent Vinticus with the Imperial Security Bureau, I'd like to meet with you in person to discuss potential business our government would like to have with your organization. At a time and place of your choosing of course. Thank you for your time."

Max leaned back in his chair as he gave a stretch and a short little grin. It was nice to be on break from his assignments, even if it meant playing diplomat. Which was something he actually didn't mind that much so long as who he was visiting was polite. The fact that the Ravens did most of their business in a large casino filled with gambling and vice didn't hurt either. Max was a man of the galaxy after all.

As Cryax's executive assistant, a Bothan named Bleb or Frab or some name that Cryax always forgot, showed him the Holo message from a man named Agent Vinticus with the Imperial Security Bureau, the Chiss raised a brow. He flicked off the Holo message and smiled at the beleaguered Bothan.

"Imperials, eh Bleb?" he said to his assistant.

"It's Frab, Sir," the Bothan named Frab retorted.

"Whatever."

Not sure what a bunch of holdouts from the Galactic Empire would want with a criminal syndicate, he was intrigued to say the least. If it was merely a business arrangement that was fine and dandy, but what Cryax was most interested in was the Imperials' famed military prowess. Given all the saber rattling going on in the galaxy, Cryax felt it wouldn't hurt to pursue the possibility of combining two small but strong military powers. "Bleb, send a return Holo message to the Agent inviting him to the Dragon Palace Casino. I will meet him in the central bar at a prearranged time day and time. Comp him for a room and give him some credits for the Sabaac tables."

"Sir, my name's not..."

"Just do it, Bleb. Now"

Max had been restlessly sleeping in his chair when a holo message from a disgruntled looking Bothan awoke him from his fitful slumber. He'd been dreaming of Rhen Var again, as he so often did when he drifted off into oblivion. Besides his normally busy schedule it was one of the reasons he only tried to sleep four hours a day. Dreams showed him faces and beings that had long ago been violently wiped off the face of the galaxy. Which according to many force users was all part of some cosmic plan.

Max didn't like it.

That would mean everyone's actions were just a joke, devoid of any real decision making.

Frack that.

Max shook off his musings and replied with a confirmation before placing the appropriate coordinates into the nav computer and prepping for a jump.

It was time to get loaded.

Cryax Bane sat hunched over his Datapad on a barstool at the center bar in the middle of the Dragon Palace Casino. He had a string of appointments to check off his list, most with various Outer Rim crime lords, drug dealers, and racketeers. To bide his time, the Chiss surfed the Holonet, most specifically a support group forum for people who had been implanted with Yorik-Kul by the Yuuzhan Vong at some point or another. And had lived to tell about it. Cryax signed up for the forum under the name "Help_Me" and was just about to write an introduction post, when his chrono pinged. Giving it a perfunctory glance, he noticed that his contact, Agent Vinticus from the Imperial Security Bureau was scheduled to arrive very soon. The post would have to wait.
