THYFERRA

It’s only been a week since I was voted in as the senator of Thyferra. The GA’s moving their capital to Fondor was a wake up call for Thyferra government to speed things up, ushering into a new era with Thyferra as a force to be reckoned with within the GA. Electing a longtime, successful executive of a thriving company was definitely the right decision. Despite anything, I know better than everyone else in this system how to accelerate and grow a resource hotbed into a well-oiled, hyper-efficient operation.

Part of the trade-off I had to take was leaving my official post as the COO of Zor Enterprises Holdings, although I still remain the brain of the company behind the scene. Business fuels regional growth, and in Thyferra we are the business. It’s illogical to leave what’s working behind and risking what has been a beneficial endeavour to all. It’s not like that I can’t handle the pressure of juggling two high-profile jobs after all. I’ve been doing it ever since I passed elementary school, such is life of a bastard who always had to prove his worth to his so-called family.

You have a guest, sir.” My thoughts were interrupted by my secretary, reminding me that I have an appointment at my Thyferra office. Of course, how can I forget…

Give me two minutes and let them in.” I told her as I quickly scrolled my holo-pad to quickly read through all the necessary information for this meeting.

Senator Dod patiently waited within the reception room, having the opportunity to observe the architecture of the senatorial office. The grand columns that adorned the entrance stood tall and majestic, their intricate carvings telling stories of ancient times. As he glanced around the room, Dod noticed the elaborate tapestries that hung from the walls, depicting scenes of valor and honor. It was quite the luxury accomodations for a new senator, but it was less grand than his own estate on Fondor and Cato Neimoidia.

"Ah, Senator Zor. We are honored to speak to you today." The Neimoidian's voice resonated as they entered the room following the secretary's permission. Accompanying them were two Trade Federation Envoys, who displayed similar traits of timidity and apprehension as the senator. The Trade Federation had come to Thyferra not only to secure the senator's vote for the passage of the Improved Hyperspace Protection Act, but also to explore new opportunities for expanding their interplanetary trade agreements.

Dod was eager to establish stronger economic ties with Thyferra, a planet known for its advanced medical technology and valuable resources. In addition to discussing the proposed legislation, they could perhaps engage in in-depth negotiations with local business leaders and government officials to pave the way for future trade partnerships.

THYFERRA

Senator Dod, very kind of you to visit so soon after my appointment,” the Senator would probably notice the gleeful tone in my voice. As a first-time senator, it is imperative to quickly build your network and map out who to approach in what situations and how you do it. Whatever will our relationship, both between I and the Senator of Cato Neimoidia, between the systems we represent, and between our business interests, the meeting is an excellent early step taken within my new role.

I asked the Senator to take a seat, glancing around the office room that I haven’t had the chance to fully decorate as my own. It had been an exhilarating week catching up with all the details relevant to my new job as the Senator of Thyferra, while business mever stop at signs of inconvenience. Something to be done later, I hope the Senator doesn’t mind.

I hope things have been going well for you and your constituents, Senator,” I left it open-ended to let him branch from that, if he wants. On the table are two bottles, one water and another Thyferran Red, as well as glasses; filled with water for me, and empty for the Senator and emissaries. I looked at the Senator, trying to study his expression. Of what will be the points of discussion today, I’m not that curious. He represents both Cato Neimoidia and the Trade Federation, this talk will flow gracefully between politics and business, as it should be.

What I’m curious is how would the senator reacted at the strong pheromones emitted from my body. A mix of two strong-pheromones species, I tend to exude a distinct and at times, potent aura even without doing anything. It’s a blessing and a curse I’ve lived with my whole life, and it’s always interesting to gauge others reactions to it whenever I meet new people.

" Naturally, it is only proper for us to welcome you into our humble assembly. " Dod explained with a hand gesture, gracefully taking the seat offered to him. They had been diligently observing the senatorial elections on Thyferra and when the news emerged that a newcomer had triumphed over the incumbent by a large margin, they moved swiftly to seize the opportunity to make a strong first impression and show that the Trade Federation was not the villain it was portrayed to be, merely esteemed capitalist working within the legal boundary of the system.

The Neimoidian attentively observed the Thyferra Senator during their conversation, taking the time to pour a glass of water for himself and the two Trade Federation Envoys who were seated nearby. As the Senator was questioned about his constituents, one of the envoys leaned in to whisper a warning about divulging too much information, emphasizing the potential negative impact it could have.

" As you know, Senator Zor. The Neimoidian Purse Worlds always thrive in these kind of extreme war environments. Consumers are concerned about shipping and the price hikes of certain products like bacta and kolto, which can only be found on certain planets. I'm sure you've had your own shortages. " Dod explained, lifting up the glass of water and gently taking small sip. The Shipping Industry was certainly taking a nose-dive with the ongoing conflict between the Empire and the Alliance, but they had survived due to grants and stringent economic measures enacted by the Committee of Finance and Commerce, which the Federation controlled.

THYFERRA

I would say we have handled things well, Senator. We produce our own necessities, we have a robust working class to support the industry, and we have enough excess to trade for the few we don’t have.” I responded to the Senator’s thoughts about the war. I have to partly agree with his assessment; while I wouldn’t go as far as thriving, Thyferra is one of the system that is built to endure resource crisis and hiking trade prices. However, I made a mental note about the Senator’s first reflex to talk about what the corporation pumped out instead of who buys it from them and how.

I sipped my glass of water, shifting my gaze towards the two entourages the Neimoidian had brought, the envoys of the Trade Federation. They had on occasion whispered their mind at the Senator, another details that I saved in my brain log.

It’s no secret that I was an executive in my family’s business, and while I left my old role, familial bonds is something you can’t scoff at,” I continued by insinuating my current influence in Zor Enterprises Holdings, after I resigned to take the post as a Senator, and the implications of having the Senatorial seat, trying to gauge the Senator’s opinion on this circumstances.

But we both know that good business and good governance goes hand-in-hand. If the corporate can produce, the people can consume. And the other way around,

"Ah, It is always good to see planets take their own initiatives to solve the economic crisis instead of waiting for the Chancellor's Policy." Dod displayed a gentle smile, fully aware that the Office of the Chancellor had not yet established a concrete economic policy for the future, thus delegating the task to the Planetary Governments and Senators. With limited experience in such matters, these governments were primarily focused on advancing their individual agendas, with the expectation that the Trade Federation would offer support.

"I do not blame you for seeking higher elevations of office, Senator Zor. I find it difficult to connect with certain family dynamics due to Neimoidia's hyper-competitive hive-like nature, which prioritizes greed and the accumulation of resources." The Neimoidian said, responding after a brief discussion with the Trade Federation Envoys, being counseled to proceed with caution. The Society of Neimoidia demanded that only the most vile and greedy survive and Dod had crawled his way up from a mere grub to a powerful senator within the Alliance.

"We both understand such principles of business, Senator Zor. But our colleagues within the Galactic Alliance might find such an ideology difficult given the rise of anti-corporate sentiments on the streets and in the Senate. We must endevor to professionaly guide the conversation away from corporate mistrust into corporate support of the economic system, for which the citizens thrive." Dod said lifting up his own glass of water.

Concurring with the thoughts of the Senator of Thyferra, although knowing that the people of the Galactic Alliance were starting to grow tired of countless corporate expansion and emergers, taking place in response to the Core War. Such anti-corporate movements naturally spread to the Senate.
