STRENGTHS-
- Heritage-
- Volo is a paternal descendant of Clan Skaigh, a proud clan that can trace their existence back to the time of Mandalore the First. Clan Skaigh, a proud warrior clan, have spent millennia mastering every traditional form of combat, and administering it to their youth. Volo, son of Alor Vram Skaigh, was no exception to this. From birth till adulthood, he spent every spare minute training with beskad, bevii'ragir, munit'kad, kal, or honing his aim with pistols and rifles alike; when he tired of weapons, he threw them aside for hand-to-hand, or hand-to-weapon combat. These skills have only been honed further with decades of practical application.
- Volo is a maternal descendant of the Silent River Clan, a small and lesser known Nightsister Coven emerging a hundred or so years following the Clone Wars. Though raised in Clan Skaigh, Volo was baptised by the Nightsisters and has an affinity for their Magicks.
- Experience
- Volo has spent a substantial portion of his life fighting and hunting almost all prey imaginable. Men and Beast have both known him as a foe, and have served as effective practice for the skills Volo trained throughout his youth. Throughout his decades of experience and practical application, Volo has expanded his abilities, gradually breaking away the restraints of Mandalorian form to become a true Battlemaster with a blended and adaptable combat style, regardless of weapon.
- Though spending most of his youth training, Volo was raised on Dathomir. He accompanied countless hunting parties from his Clan, learning to blend with his environment, to walk without making noise, to strike without hesitation and wait without impatience. It is from this deep experience of hunting that Volo was able to earn a reputation for being a Living Shadow.
- Scarred
- While once a great and healthy warrior, in spite of years fighting, Volo was unfortunate enough to find himself trapped within the Netherworld of the Force for a relative two years of his life; translating to a few months in real time. During his time in the Netherworld, Volo lost his right arm, as well as both his legs below the midthigh. While now replaced by cybernetics, the loss of his limbs still impacts his physical state, especially his ability to relax.
- Though harmed a great deal physically, the true scarring left by the Netherworld is mental. Since his return, Volo has been healed of the mental fragmentation and degradation he experienced in the Netherworld, however he still suffers from a shifted perspective of reality and mild post-traumatic stress disorder as a result.
- Additionally, Volo has also lived through other traumatic and scarring events. At the age of thirteen, his twin sister was brutally mauled by a Nydak, and at the age of twenty, he fought and killed his father for leadership of his Clan; through Nightsister Magick, he also relived the massacre of his Mother's Clan through the eyes of his Father, being forced to experience the events as the perpetrator. These events, long passed as they are, are still incredibly traumatic and have had long-lasting impacts on Volo's ability to form relationships and attachments.
- Fractured Soul
- In order to survive the Netherworld, Volo made a deal with a powerful demon known as Invictyra. In exchange for a fraction of this demon's powers and support, the Demon would take a part of Volo's soul and replace it with its own. In giving up a portion of his soul, Volo lost the ability to join with his brothers and sisters in the Manda upon his death. While bearing little practical impact upon his being, it has the occasional impact upon his mental state and logical process.
In the 824th Year following the Battle of Yavin, on the planet Dathomir, two children were born from the relations of Alor Vram of Clan Skaigh and Mother Ansez of the Silent River Clan. These children, Volo and Vela, were destined for greatness and legacy. Their birth, meant to begin a time of unity and peace between the Nightsister and Mandalorian Clans, was prophetic.
It would not be, however. At only a week old, the newborns were stolen away from their father's home in the Mandalorian Settlement, and taken to the Nightsister Coven to be baptised in the Old Magicks. What might have been the start to an age of prosperity and new beginnings had been turned to the final affront in a decades long conflict.
The children's future had been dashed by brashness and impatience. The Mandalorians, lead by their Alor, sought to reclaim the children from the Nightsisters. In doing so, the Silent River Clan was put to the sword, every last Nightsister and Nightbrother slaughtered for the sake of tradition.
