SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Vorpan'yaim
  • Classification: Environmentally Controlled Farmland
  • Location: Various domed cities across Mandalore
  • Affiliation: The Mandalorians
  • Accessibility: Typically for those Mandalorians visiting a Vorpan'yaim a small toll was paid at the port. The tax varied from dome to dome, but was always exponentially higher for off-worlder non-Mandalorians. Some of the preserve domes and the Sundari Vorpan'yaim required extensive security screenings as well.
  • Description: Vorpan'yaim [lit: Green Home], were structures constructed after the first Mandalorian Excision near and around the domed cities of the Southern hemisphere. Smaller than the large domes that held entire Mandalorian cities like Sundari and Padelfia, these smaller domes often held village-sized settlements where farmers paid to own plots of land and could farm fresh vegetables. Outside of bad glitches in the environmental control center, the weather stayed relatively temperate all year round. Some of these domes were made into popular lake attraction spots due to the weather always being perfect. The type of farm varied wildly with some keeping with traditional methods were like little slices of the old days and were more reminiscent of northern towns. Some others fully embraced the advancements in temperature and environmental control and became large, advanced, hydroponics facilities.

They were also used for a time to facilitate terraforming research immediately after the Mandalorian Excision. Those domes were mostly abandoned when it was found there was nothing they could do to fix their home. Often placed far from domed cities, many of these abandoned places became large forests, sporting their own ecosystems of natural Mandalorian plants and animals. Many of these domes that were near cities became tourist attractions as safari zones where others far off from cities became nature preserves. Often times game animals and livestock were brought in to these domes in order to help make both the farmlands and preserves more similar to a pre-Excision state of Mandalorian likeness.

After the Second Mandalorian Excision these domes began seeing widespread use, including the nature preserve domes. Many began supporting small Mandalorian communities.

POINTS OF INTEREST
River Well: Automated stations that pumped, cleaned, and recycled a large reservoir of water. These stations facilitated simulated rain, the hydroponics systems, sewage, and the man-made rivers and lakes that dotted the dome's area. River Wells were connected to large moisture farms on the outside of the domes that provided new water periodically.

Port: A small spaceport that could except medium-sized bulk freighters or smaller ships. They were always located on the outside of the station and were environmentally sealed and controlled. They allowed for people to enter and exit the dome.

Sundari Vorpan'yaim: Unique as the capital's main source of food, the Sundari Vorpan'yaim were the most advanced hydroponics facilities on Mandalore. These Vorpan'yaim provided the bulk of food following the Second Mandalorian Excision. After Yasha Mantis took the mantle of Mand'alor, the Sundari Vorpan'yaim also facilitated the bulk of terraforming research, making it the focal point for Mandalore's survival. These domes held advanced security, higher standards for tenants, and a contingent of Mandalorian Protectors dispatch specifically for the series of Sundari Vorpan'yaim.

SECURITY
Low: Vorpan'yaim were often only protected by the citizens within or small, local militias. The main exception to this were the advanced hydroponics domes of Sundari which were closely guarded by the Mandalorian Protectors due to the amount of food produced there.

High: Sundari Vorpan'yaim

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Designed some time after the first Mandalorian Excision, the Vorpan'yaim were large biodomes or biocubes constructed by the New Mandalorians over a thousand years ago. Designed to provide food for the domed cities of Mandalore's southern hemisphere they held advanced hydroponics facilities and fertile farmland. They were often owned by large Clans, Houses, and government entities who then sold ore rented portions of the dome inside to Mandalorians to use as farmland or hydroponic facilities. Tenant standards were originally strict, with most if not all of them having to swear fealty to the Duchess Satine and her New Mandalorians. Many of these dome farmers were forced to give up family armor and personal weapons outside of certain regulated hunting rifles to stay. These rules only got more strict once the Empire took over the planet.

Some time after the Galactic Civil War however, Jaster's Mandalorians re-took the planet as the ways of the New Mandalorian died along with the Duchess. Many of these domed farms and environments took on a more traditional sense. Where the great industrial cities of the South continued to follow some of the old ways of the New Mandalorians, these domes were like snapshots into the more rural North. Wild animals roamed freely, farmers herded livestock and worked the land with tools. Time seemed to slow down in these country places. Some domes were even dedicated to becoming large nature preserves after terraforming efforts were deemed useless. These places became havens for some of the flora and fauna unique to the Southern hemisphere of Mandalore.

After the Second Mandalorian Excision, these domes saw widespread use by relief effort leaders. They were among the first things that were repaired and brought back online and provided food and shelter during the refugee crisis aftermath. Few of these domes saw skirmishes during the Seven Day War and during Ra Viszla's Force Sensitive round up, however were quickly brought to heel by the new Mandalorian Empire. After Yasha Mantis took the mantle however, they were instrumental in feeding the Mandalorian people and furthering the Mandalorians' terraforming technologies. Now these domes serve the same purpose as they did when first constructed, a way for Mandalorians to be self-sufficient in the face of adversity.

[member="Gilamar Skirata"] I love the art you chose for this. It's so fantastic! Thank you for translating the title in the description as well. There are just a couple little things I'd like to double check with you.

1.) Links
The submission references quite a few locations/events/notable figures that seem to have submissions or wookie-links that should be linked. (Several examples but not limited to...The Second Mandalorian Excision/Sundari and Padelfia/Yasha Mantis (Cadera) [Please be sure to link to applicable Character Bio's, not Character Profile's], Mandalore, Mandalorian Protectors, The Seven Day War, Etc...)

2.) Affiliation: The Mandalorians
If the submission is affiliated with the Mandalorian Empire that should also be linked here. If it just belongs to the Mandalorian people in a general sense this is fine. I've seen it listed both ways so I just wanted to make sure.

3.) Accessibility
There is nothing listed next to this section.

There's not much to go over, mostly, just making sure that everything is linked appropriately. The rest is all lovely. Thank you!

Note: I apologize if you got tagged twice. I accidentally posted my response before I was ready.

Generally the Mandalorians/Whichever Mandalorian Major faction holds the world.
