STRENGTHS
Blue Man Group Special: Firing beams of maser-guided particle discharge, the Voxyn is a triple threat of ionic, thermal and kinetic energy. Additionally, they are not subject to the reflective capabilities of lightsabers. Neat.
Stun of a Gun: The Voxyn also features a powerful stun setting for added versatility, firing an EM-charge attuned to neurological patterns to incapacitate an enemy with potentially minimal fuss.
Weave of Action: With a reinforced duraplast frame and cortosis weave, Voxyn was built to last. Capable of withstanding kinetic impacts and glancing lightsaber strikes without accruing too much damage.
Suns Out, Guns Out: In addition to conventional means, the Rylith power cell can also be recharged with solar energy, requiring just over an hour of full exposure to become fully charged. Making it an ideal survival weapon should the need arise.
WEAKNESSES
Shock & Awww: While set to the stun setting, the Voxyn’s range is dramatically decreased. This means that, if you want to take someone alive, you gotta get up close and personal to do so. A feat easier said than done in the midst of a firefight.
Caught Weaving When You Should’ve Dodged: While the cortosis weave allows the rifle to withstand glancing blows from a lightsaber, sustained or direct contact will quickly render this protection moot.
DESCRIPTION
Like the deadly hybrid predator it takes its name from, the Voxyn was designed specifically for countering lightsaber combatants. Perhaps ironically, however, it actually shares many of its design features with TOTT’s Kusak rather than the Vornksr. The added tag of ‘blaster’ is also a little misleading. We can only blame the marketing team for that one.
Taking a note from technology pioneered by the Chiss, the Voxyn is a heavy hitting, yet reliably robust Charric blaster rifle. Firing maser-guided beams of thermal energy, the Voxyn imparts a considerable amount of both kinetic and ionic energy with each shot, making it ideal for wearing down a target prone to blocking or shrugging off blaster bolts. The fact it can’t be deflected by a lightsaber was just an added bonus, as was the highly potent stun setting that was achieved.
While the original Charric rifles often lacked range, TOTT managed to work around this particular issue through the combination of an advanced amplifying chamber and the extremely high energy output of the pure Rylith power cell. To offset the kickback of the weapon and help improve the overall accuracy in both modes, an autosteady gyro-gimbal was installed in the muzzle of the weapon.
