- Emergency Disarm Buttons
- Multiple modes allow for less room to be taken up by having several different grenades
- Emergency Disarm buttons allow for the grenade to be shut off if the user changes their mind
- Useful against droids and mechanized enemies
- Useful against enemies susceptible to shrapnel
- Enemies near the detonation are likely to suffer severe energy burns
- Single use like most grenades
- Somewhat more expensive than normal grenades
- Less concussive blast than the average shrapnel grenade
- User must choose between the two modes
- Complicated design compared to most grenades
Designed with adaptability in mind, like all VSF technology, the VSF Akita is a variable grenade that with two twisting dials on the top and bottom of the grenade, can act as either an EMP grenade, or a fragmentation grenade with a small plasma blast. At the center of every grenade is a densely charged capacitor, which in EMP mode unleashes as a burst of energy capable of crippling and frying most electronics. When switched to shrapnel mode, the capacitor charges the outset shell of the grenade, then bursts with a small plasma explosion which is capable of propelling the shell of the grenade in multiple directions in a spray of deadly shrapnel which has been energized similar to a bowcaster’s quarrel.
The VSF Akita also has two detonation modes, Fuse and Impact. The fuse setting upon activation, lasts for five seconds before detonating in the chosen method. The impact setting causes a button to pop out of the top of the grenade. Pressing this button activates the impact sensor, causing the grande to go off with any serious impact. Slight bumps or jostling will not activate the impact sensor, barring any sort of defect or alteration to the grenade..
Once activated , the grenade can be deactivated by hitting two buttons placed on opposing sides of the grenade’s middle. Holding these buttons will pause the fuse and prevent impacts from setting off the grenade. After two seconds of holding, they will deactivate the grenade.
