Description:
The VT-Disruptor Missile is a step into the development of weapons to counter heavy ship born armor as well as more powerful shielding that currently has become prevalent in starship technology.

Recently, the galaxy has begun a surge in the development of thicker armor plating as well as more powerful shield technology. This trend of bigger, more resilient, and powerful ships means that turbo-lasers, concussion missiles, and even proton torpedoes simply aren't as effective as they once used to be against starships. This, of course, is rather troubling when it comes to fleet combat and means that ships generally survive longer and are more difficult to destroy. Due to this, and due to Vanir Technologies continued dislike of all things armor the company has recently developed a new weapon system that will allow the destruction of starships with relative ease.

The beginning stages of this development was the additive of Disruptor Technology.

Having been previously studied and even produced by Vanir Technologies disruptors were found to be one of the most dangerous and deadly weapons that one could create. Due to this, and knowing their relative effectiveness on...well everything the weapons were quickly incorporated into the design. Of course, because of their relatively short range and the near impossible amounts of power drawn on by Disruptors it was impossible to create a cannon of starship proportions.

Instead the technology was incorporated into a missile system, coupled with a more damaging factor that would allow it to effect larger starships as well as smaller ones.

The weapon that was eventually developed was the VT-Disruptor Missile, a sort of misnomer since the Disruptor was only a small portion of the technology itself.

The missile itself was actually a rather simple technology, a three stage missile that could be fired from a capital ship or larger fighter craft. The missile would fly through space towards it's target, then lose it's nose cap. With the nose cap gone the missile would directly slam onto it's target, smashing into the enemies hull and sticking to it either via the powerful adhesive attached to it's nose of the magnetized circuits running through the tip of the missiles itself.

Once attached to the surface of its target the missile would fire the contents of it's top portion, utilizing a powerful disruptor built into the technology to instantly blast away the portion of the hull it was attached to, creating a hole within the starships hull.

The missile would then fire it's secondary charge, a powerful directed baradium blast that would burst forth through the small hole within the hull, destroying most everything in it's path and causing damage within within the ship itself. This direct blast is aimed to pierce through as much of the ship as possible, though of course varies depending on ship material, make, and design. Hopefully this secondary blast would damage critical systems, take out personnel, and perhaps even disable the effected craft if the missile struck in the correct place.

Finally, and perhaps most dangerously, the missile would activate it's third stage. Once the first two stages were complete, the missile would simply detonate. This detonation utilized a secondary, less directed, baradium blast to tear away the section of the hull it is attached to. This, along with the hopefully earlier direct blast would be strong enough to cause more internal damage via explosive decompression.

Seems pretty straightforward. Same principle as a HEAT round, more or less, but with the disruptor taking the place of the shaped charge and of course baradium. I can dig it.

Pending secondary.
