- Shield Focus: The Vanir Technologies Focus Array is a device that allows for the adaption of shielding for use against powerful single focus weaponry that would ordinarily overpower and cut through standard shielding. The array itself is a modification placed upon a shield generator, whether standard or otherwise, and then 'focuses' that generators output. The Array essentially takes a shield generators output and 'focuses' it, creating a sequential layer of shielding to block and stop a single powerful blast. Obviously this still damages the shield the same amount of that blasts output, but it prevents said weapon from cutting through the shield and destroying or disabling the ship in one go.
- Multi-Direction: The Focus Array works by modifying a shield generator, and thus it utilizes most of the available power that is currently being created for the shields. This means that while the Focus Array is active, the shields are weakened and 'drained' everywhere else around the vessel. In simple terms, the Focus Array while in use leaves the vessel open to attack from other angles.
With the technological creep of the galaxy ever advancing, Vanir Technologies has always attempted to allow for the creation of 'counters'.
Lately, it has been observed by VT researchers that a number of Corporations, as well as Galactic Governments, have been creating and developing weapons of mass destruction. These weapons generally tend to utilize the focused firepower of more standard weaponry, such as turbo-lasers and ion cannons. Seeing this, and knowing that there would be an open market for creating counters to these weapons, Vanir went to work.
The invention that they came up with was the VT-Focus Array.
This modification would allow Governments, Private Fleets, and Planetary Defense Forces to defend against weapons that would ordinarily overpower and destroy them before they could properly counter-attack. The Focus Array is not an overly complex device, and as such it's application is fairly standard and easy to add even in the after-market.
Due to it's nature as a modification, the Focus Array works on all manner of shielding and thus can counter a wide variety of weaponry. Of course the Array does not enhance the shielding itself and does not add to it's power, simply shift it's applications to counter a class of weapons becoming more prevalent in the galaxy.
