Strengths:
Fast: Above all and everything else, the Vanir Technologies-Momentum is designed as a speedship. The vessel itself was designed with key functions to make it incredibly fast both in space, and in atmosphere. The vessel has a low aerodynamic profile, a single overcharged engine, and repulsor generators for when in Atmosphere. It's lack of weaponry, shields, and heavy armor also make the ship far more easy to accelerate with its engine. These factors combined, along with the almost skeletal design and perfect shape makes the Momentum one of the fastest ships in the entire galaxy.
Pilot Integration System: The chief hallmark of the Momentum is its speed and maneuverability. For humans, and humanoid creatures, this speed can be 'taxing' on the senses, sending some into overdrive and causing the ship to crash due to lack of proper handling. To counter this the Momentum has been designed with a computer interface system that makes the ship far more easy to fly for normal beings. The system does this by making minute changes, calibrations, and calculations to every inputted action, aiding the pilot as he flies the vessel but with no noticeable difference. This system as a fact slightly inhibits the capabilities of the Momentum, and were it shut off the pilot would find the Momentum much more unwieldy and wild. Though perhaps more...fun.
Weaknesses:
Unarmed: The Momentum as one would suspect is completely and entirely unarmed. There are no weapons placed aboard the Momentum. No laser cannons, no proton torpedos, it doesn't even come with a blaster. Of course this makes the ship lighter, but it also makes the vessel completely and totally helpless if caught unawares.
Unshielded: To complement its unarmed status, the Momentum also has no shields or heavy armor. The only armor that coats the Momentum is a thin layer of Agrinium to aid in the deflection and shielding against radiation. Aside from this the Momentum has zero defense. Even a glancing laser blow would be devastating to the vessel and would likely cause severe damage that would require repairs. Of course the vessels speed and maneuverability make up for this somewhat, but it is still recommended by Vanir Technologies that this vessel is never taken into a combat zone.
Description:
The Vanir Technologies-Momentum is the first civilian vessel designed by Vanir technologies.
The ship itself has the appearance of a sleek racecraft. It has subtle curves and finely tuned edges. It's 'wings' stick out and shift depending on the motion of the vessel itself and the ship comes in a variety of different color palettes to suit each user to their own liking. The Momentum was simply designed as a different kind of pleasure craft, the kind for the speed freaks and racers of the galaxy.
The Momentum came about as a thought project.
The idea was simple, make an an interceptor for the common folk, a craft that would bring the speed and glory of military design to the civilian market. This was accomplished through the use of a lightweight skeletal chassis, thin anti-radiation plating, and an overcharged ion engine that pressed it all together. When the sum of its components fall into place the Momentum becomes one of the fastest ships in the galaxy not because of what it does have but because of what it doesn't.
It wouldn't be incorrect to call the Momentum a minimalist starship.
Though it is designed as a racer, the Momentum is capable of traveling through the galaxy via a hyperdrive. With this in mind the interior of the Momentum's cockpit is rather nice, a plush comfort seat(cupholder included), push back controls for extra space, and several small storage compartments located behind removable panels within the cockpit itself.
Also, to facilitate long range trips, the front of the ships chassis is hollowed out into two empty storage containers. Though removing the panels to access these containers takes nearly five minutes, they do provide ample storage space for provisions and equipment, however, filling these storage spaces changes the way the Momentum flies, significantly lowering its maneuverability.
