Fearless — Vun is unafraid of encountering monsters, heights, death, and the like.

Loyalty — Despising treachery, Vun is passionately loyal to his friends and allies.

Aloof — Like most Shistavanen, Vun tends to be socially isolated and is not comfortable making small talk with others.

Reckless Still adjusting to a measured and calm mindset, Vun doesn't always think before he acts.

Internal Conflict — Vun has a dark and violent past that continues to haunt him. Emotion and passion run through him strongly, making it a struggle for him to prevent bursts of anger and violence that he has historically reveled in. He struggles to prevent himself from being provoked and is liable to snapping under a range of circumstances.

Species Advantages — As a Shistavanen, Vun boasts a number of bonuses inherent to his species: enhanced senses (hearing, smell, night vision), preternatural strength and speed, as well as a limited regeneration factor. Conversely, extreme noises and smells can also be more easily overpowering for Shistavanen as well.

Natural Hunter — A career as a bounty hunter has given Vun advanced skills in tracking, stealth and survival. In addition, he is a talented pilot and slicer. He can supplement all of these skills with the Force.

Unusually Skilled — Already having a career as a Sith apprentice and Dark Jedi Knight, Vun is unusually experienced and powerful for a Padawan. He is particularly adept at physical augmentation and acrobatics, lending himself well to the fourth form of lightsaber combat (Ataru), and is also a skilled user of telekinesis and a variety of other Force abilities. However, he is not always capable of using his skills to their full potential, for reasons outlined below.

Emotional Control — Vun's history as a dark sider has stayed with him to an extent, so he struggles to control his emotions and enter the state of harmony that Jedi are known for. His ability to stay in such a state is spotty at best, meaning his ability is prone to fluctuations in combat. Furthermore, he is not good at resisting psychological tricks or pain, with both easily causing him to lose his temper. Vun consciously attempts to avoid a return to the dark side whenever possible, meaning he can be plagued with internal conflict that dramatically impairs his performances.

Fearful Sight — Many in the galaxy have not seen Shistavanen before, and their predatory appearance often alarms others or at least makes them wary. Despite trying to not appear threatening, Vun isn't always successful.

A young pup is born on Uvena Prime, marked by both an unusual pigmentation of fur as well as an unusual affinity for the Force. He is given the name Vun Mulvogg and he attracts a Sith Lord's eye one day. Vun's father, also touched by the Force but not officially trained in its use, has spent many years as a gifted bounty hunter and has recently claimed many lives on behalf of this Sith Lord. In a classic example of Sith treachery, the Sith Lord has come to tie up loose ends by killing him and his entire family.

The family begins to argue; Vun's father tries to send his wife and child off-planet to safety, while the two of them refuse to leave him to his certain death. The approach of the Sith Lord escalates tensions rapidly into a heated argument, and the young Vun experiences an unprecedented surge of fury; unable to control it, he releases a vicious burst of raw Force energy, but the next thing he knows is that his parents have suffered grotesque deaths. The Sith Lord, seeing Vun's strength in the Force and his potential for anger, offers him a chance to harness his rage and learn to wield the power that his father had never been able to. Dazed and thinking less than clearly, Vun accepts an offer to become the Sith Lord's apprentice.

Vun's memories of the incident are repressed by trauma and he often thinks himself responsible for killing his family. By blaming himself, Vun produces the self-loathing necessary to fuel the rage that would serve him as a Sith. Recalling only that his Master had prompted his unfortunate outburst, Vun harbours a vendetta against his Master too, secretly hoping to kill him once he becomes strong enough. In the classic Sith tradition, he will become the Master in his own right once this happens.

On a mission that involves the butchering of another family in an event eerily similar to that of Vun's childhood, Vun is struck with a powerful flashback which fully relays the events of the day where Vun's parents died. The Sith Lord arrived just as the argument hit its climax, and mercilessly attacked everyone. Vun's moment of blinding rage coincidentally occurred simultaneously; while his parents died from the Sith Lord's assault, Vun unleashed a burst of power that surprised the Sith Lord and blew him back, but passed out after. It was this display of potential that interested the Sith Lord in the prospect of training the young Shistavanen.

Now recalling everything, Vun feels that blinding anger again for the first time in years. He returns to kill his Master. But he is too hasty, and his premature challenge is met with a humiliating defeat. Vun barely escapes with his life. Broken, he retreats a life of crime in the underworld, using his natural abilities as a Shistavanen as well as his skills acquired from years of Sith training to become a freelance bounty hunter and Dark Jedi assassin. On behalf of various crime lords, he commits many vicious murders, and occasionally gives voice to the great anger inside him by terrorising others of his own accord. These targets are always associates of his former Master; Vun hopes to draw him out for a second challenge.

As he destroys others' lives, however, Vun also slowly destroys his own. His rampages, rather than satisfying his internal strife, exacerbates it, leaving him an emotional wreck in denial, longing for a release that he does not know how to find. It is at this time that he encounters Jedi Master Kian Karr, who is tracking down Vun's old Master. In all his years, Vun has not actually met a Jedi of such stature, and thinks he will enjoy killing one as a test of his abilities, but Master Karr, sensing Vun's internal conflict, offers him a deal: in exchange for leading the Jedi Master to Vun's former Master, he will set Vun free from his suffering. Realising in his heart that he is no match for his old Master on his own, Vun accepts.

The duo succeed in overpowering and killing the Sith Lord. However, it is the stronger Master Karr who delivers the death blow. Feeling robbed, Vun flies into a rage and attempts to kill the Jedi. A ferocious battle ensues, but Vun is defeated in the end. However, as he prepares to accept death, he is instead met by an offer of apprenticeship for the second time. This time, he is not promised power, but salvation; not how to harness his anger, but how to be free of it. Reflecting on how much his life has been tortured by walking the dark path, Vun accepts Master Karr's offer, embracing rebirth as a member of the Jedi Order.
