Waiting To Leave.

Atlas.

Atlas was the first ever Cosimokiin to want to venture off of Ottabesk. His species had lived on this planet, and only this planet for 2000 years now and no one but him had ever looked out at the stars and properly wanted to leave. No one had ever come to Ottabesk, and so he waited for someone to find it, hopefully he could leave the planet with them so he could learn to get around somehow. He wanted to explore the universe. At the age of 247 and being able to live until 670 on average, he had a long life ahead of him. This is why he wanted to explore.
Over on Ottabesk, the wolves would form clans. Atlas was in the Scar clan, hunting smaller mammals to survive and reproducing to keep the planet fully populated, however the population of the Cosimokiin was starting to become too large for the planet. Atlas was loyal to whoever he could form a team with, he was also a brute, at 2.2 meters tall and 2.3 meters long, and massive wolf compared to what he had heard about on human planets.
Still he sat and waited, if a human came to this planet in a... he thought to himself. Flying thing? Then he would transform into a human himself (although he'd have to see what they look like first) and ask them if they can take him and teach him to fly, Cosimokiin were very fast learners, so he could learn the basics in a week, or so he expected. The air was cold and the sky was dark.
Would someone venture to Ottabesk so he could leave?

A spiritual successor to the Exploration Corps of old, the Pathfinders had a similar mission, continuing to map the galaxy and discover new and strange worlds. In many cases, it was rediscovering worlds, lost to the wider galaxy since the dark ages.

One important area of the survey was the Deep Core, which was still poorly mapped out to this day. The whole area was densely packed with black holes, making navigation extremely difficult. In this past, this deadly maze had served as a hideout for the Imperial Remnant, among other groups.

From a mobile starbase situated at the eastern fringes of the Deep Core, many probe drones had been deployed across the region to make new contact. Known civilized worlds like Empress Teta were avoided, going down the ladder for known systems that had no known recent records of civilization.

One such world on the list was Ottabesk, with little more than a stub of information available on the planet across intergalactic databases, and there hadn't been any major updates since the Old Republic era.

After entering the Ottabesk system, the drone began to systematically scan each planet, while passively looking out for any signals that would indicate civilization in the area. It began with the outermost planet in orbit first, gradually moving deeper into the system on its quest for life.

"I hate to say this about Master Nooran, but she seems like quite the troll," he said as he pushed his Vynock across the Dejarik board a hex against a computer opponent. "Does she really like to tease about sending you back to Tython?"

Apparently, the Padawan had initially gotten quite the scare when Master Nooran told her she was going back to the Deep Core...only later informing her that it was part of a new assignment being temporarily attached to the Pathfinders as part of her training.

It was kind of funny to think about. The reserved Echani didn't strike him as the type to tease, but then he couldn't really say he even began to know the Grandmaster as well as Charlie.

"I hope it doesn't bother you, but I do plan to head over to Tython myself. I'm actually pretty curious about the enclave you studied with. Have you had any contact with them since you joined the Silver Order?"

Charlie poked her face out from behind the book she was reading. Her eyes scanned the board and wondered if the Knight was going to beat the computer this time around, but she kept her mouth shut about the game. He mentioned her Master and the small Seoulian girl patted her face with her book for a few moments and nodded.

“She enjoys seeing my reaction. Apparently, I’m quite animated.” Charlie remembered the moment when she was happily eating a cookie wandering around her day off. Jyoti being the type to be straight to the point rather casually without much expression told Charlie she was returning to the deep core. In the Padawan’s mind that meant one place, despite the deep core having several planets. There was a lot of begging and choking on a cookie.

Remembering how desperate she had been to try and get off Tython she remembered the laughter at her scare. A hand ran through her dark hair as she pouted showing her distaste for the teasing. She knew her Master meant no harm. The woman had become more than just a mentor to her in their time together. Exhaling trying to hide her flustered nature when he mentioned Tython, Charlie closed the book and placed it in her lap. Eyebrows raised as she shrugged. “I’ve had a little. Mostly those I knew where able to sneak off messages to me.” Her eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at Finley, her book now became an extension of her hand as she pointed it at him.

“You better not leave me on Tython. You have to promise, like swear on your life, on the Force, on my life – like swear on everything.” The book found its way opened as she tried her best to continue reading. “What are we doing in the deep core anyways? Master could only get some information out between her fits of laughter at my expense.” A small smile crossed her face as she hid it behind the book, even if it was at her expense it was nice to see the usually reserved woman laugh. Also, Charlie enjoyed hanging out with Finley, hopefully her Master didn’t pick up on that. It would only be another thing for the woman to tease her over.

In response to his move with the Vynock, the computer engaged with a Blade Scorpion to take it out. It wasn't much of a contest, the Vynock quickly consumed, but winning that scuffle hadn't been the point. On his next turn, he moved a Dweemon off to the right of the Scorpion.

"You are pretty animated," he agreed. "But I like that. It never hurts, especially when we're couped up like sardines."

That wasn't exactly an accurate statement. The former ELINT frigate, reconfigured for deep space exploration, was pretty roomy, as far as military vessels went. All the automation so common on SJO vessels freed up space for the crew. Still, it wasn't the same as roaming free planetside.

Charlie went on to explain that she hadn't had much contact with the Enclave, almost as if it was forbidden. It was odd to him, but then maybe they were trying to limit contact to avoid detection. No longer enjoying the protection of the Galactic Alliance, Tython was ripe for another conquest by more unscrupulous characters.

"I swear upon everything that I won't leave on Tython," he said after turning to look at her, feigning his best solemn expression with a hand over his chest. "That wouldn't be a nice way to treat my future tour guide."

He gave her a cheeky grin at the end, then returned to his game, quite invested this time around as he seemed to be ahead for once (!).

"Why are we out in the Deep Core now? There really isn't any particular reason, it's all part of the Pathfinder's general mission cataloging planets and fauna. As to why you're here specifically, Master Nooran told us that she wanted you to be exposed to all sides of the Silver Order, including its support elements. I take it that she wants you to receive a well-rounded education. I remember my master putting me through a similar circuit, though it included a rotation with a combat engineering team in the Antarian Rangers. That was...an experience."

Charlie had lost interest in her book for the moment as she watched the game play out. Her face showed her surprise and approval for Finley’s moment of being ahead. She knew the Jedi in the Pathfinders were smart, but being smart didn’t mean you were strategic. His tone with his promise of not leaving her made the girl stick her tongue out – seemed she wouldn’t be free from the teasing this trip.

Book resting at her side Charlie brought her legs close to her and her head rested on her knees. Her nose wrinkled as she listened to what Jyoti had told them about having her tag along. Sounded about right, the woman did mention something along those lines of Charlie’s training. It was better than being in the class room all the time. Still even with these field trips and missions, her grades needed to remain pristine. Charlie wondered if other Masters were like Jyoti or if the woman was one of a kind.

“Oh, you got to work with the Antarian Rangers, they’re so cool. I’ve only gone on missions working alongside them. How did you like the combat engineering team?” Charlie smirked seeing figuring Finley not to be the type to enjoy being combat situations.

Atlas continued to look into the sky. Sitting where the long grass coverered the whole of his body. This grass must have been tall because the wolf was 2.2 metres tallk himself. The starts painted the darkness with glistening white and yellow. He longed to be able to go wherever he wanted. His clan had a a fire going not far from where he sat, alone, wondering. Where he was looking was very still, nothing really seemed to move all that much. Just the stars that burnt millions of miles away. Until he noticed something. A small whirring sound and a shadow moving around close to him, in front of him. He got up off of his hind legs and started to lean back, hiding down in the grass so that this, thing, wouldn't see him.

The whirring sound suddenly stopped and the shadow halted. It had stopped moving, right in front of where Atlas no lay low, staring at it. A light turned on from it and it slowly moved up and down a small plant. Then suddenly it turned to face Atlas, the light blinding him with the sudden change from darkness to light. Atlas, startled, began a deep growl, growling and barking at whatever it was ahead of him. This bark turned into a howl, it was loud because of the massive lungs he had inside of his enormous body. It leaped towards the shadow, but whatever it was, some sort of machine he thought, swiftly flew upwards and out of the way of Atlas.

His howl caught the attention of a small scuterring mammal that quickly ran away as fast it could. Atlas didn't care about that at the moment, he only wanted to see what the shadow was. He wondered to himself, could this be his first sign of humans? It seemed that no one from the camp had heard the howl because they had a festival going on. The Scar clan would help anyone within their own clan, but fighting other clans was pretty common. And so Atlas sat, still waiting and watching the machine glide around him, not leaving the vicinity, but looking all the plants up and down with this random light.

Aboard the: Nosey Knave

The pathfinder were a part of the Silver Jedi Sukai did not know much about, but their tasks and over all mission was right up her ally, exploration, discovery, charting new and old system, potentially finding old artifact, basically what she had been going for the last 15 years. For the most part it seemed that this section of the Jedi order was, lacking, to put it bluntly, sure other members were most likely taking care of business of their own, but only 4 people? That seemed to be a little to small for her liking, she had bad past experiences with groups of 4 after all.

That being said at least the groups was somewhat familiar, Jyoti herself leading the expedition along with her Padawan who she had just learned was from Tython. She herself had not been in a while but considering her mothers travels the place was a large hot spot for smaller Jedi groups, said mother having actually trained a few Jedi herself on the planet in hand to hand combat. It made her wonder about [member="Charlie Nooran"]'s past but knew not to ask, there was still a small rift between her family and the Padawan, one that she did not want to make any larger.

So for the most part the Jedi Knight Jin just sat in a simple Seiza style a few meters away from the said Padawan and the new boy called [member="Finley Dawson"], a scholar and explorer from what she knew. Keeping eyes closed and mind clear she made it look as if she was meditating, when in reality was listening in on the conversation between the two Jedi, the topic slowly switching to the Antarian Ranger, herself doing quite a few combat operation with them, her older sister a newly promoted Lieutenant among them.

Equinox

Agility is key.
Equinox wanted to go. He hated his current life. It was never the way he wanted it to be. His parents would have never wanted him to slay all these people, for his own cause. Not to protect, but for revenge and money? His parents would have grounded him for days. Even to think of such things was bad. He wanted to disappear away from all the violence, to never be found again. He found a perfect planet, searching through the archives, and uninhabited planet... Ottabesk.

He set to light speed until the second where he slowed down outside of the planet's atmosphere. It was dark alright, well, the side he could see anyway. It also seemed very uninhabited like the archives had said. He brought the Light Sky, his ship closer to the ground, looking for a small clearing. He found one between some rocks. As he opened the door to the outside world he noticed a large figure sitting, looking up, it was massive, bigger than a human. He looked closer to see the tones of a... wolf?

He tried to tread lightly, although he was so focused on not being killed that he wasn't looking ahead of him. He stepped closer and closer until there was only 10 meters between him and the beast. He started to shuffle closer until he stepped on a twig and it snapped, the wolf quickly looked over and reared up...

Atlas was suddenly shocked by the snap of a twig, his hearing (being powerful) immediately allowed him to focus on where the noise had come from. He reared up, facing that direction, growling slightly, but he then he noticed the outline of the figure. Like a wolf would when he is curious, he stopped growling and stopped rearing up. He slightly tilted his head to look at the figure with intent to familiarise himself with it. He slowly approached the figure, showing that he wasn't a threat to the being. "Are you a... human?"

Equinox

Agility is key.
Equinox was scared. He now had one hand on the ground, leaning back, and the other hand in front of his face, expecting for his arm to be ripped off by the beast that was now leaning over him. Equinox took one last look and was confused. He saw that the wolf clearly didn't want to harm him in any way. Thought flew through his mind. Wolves could speak? Wolves could be this big? Wolves could learn? Wolves could know about other species? Equinox replied with a short, snappy "yes". It seemed the mammal in front of him was trying to be friendly, and so Equinox regained his confidence and stood straight again.

The breathe of the creature was suprisingly soft for such a massive being. The wolf said "My name is Atlas, I want to get off this stupid planet, I see that you can fly, could you please teach me, maybe we could even explore together?". Equinox, happy with himself for regaining his confidence suddenly lost it again, this time, not with confusion, but with awe. This wolf really could speak his lanaguage and it was purely amazing. "I really don't care anymore, you can have the ship, if you can fit onto it, there is a manual in there, it'll teach all the basics on how to fly, I just came here to get lost, i'm not a fan of my lifestyle anymore, I don't want anyone to find me, ever again" Equinox replied to the wolf. He then added "Oh and by the way, i'm Equinox, nice to meet you... Atlas". Atlas then looked confused, and then a clear sign of sadness crossed his face. "Thank you for the ship and the learning manual, but it wouldn't be safe for you here, my clan isn't far from here and they would rip you to shreds" Atlas replied. Then the wolf turned around to face a small orange glow over the rocks that surrounded the clearing.

Atlas.

Atlas, although being a wolf, could express many faces. He now had a smirk on his face as he turned back around to his newly met partner, Equinox. The human looked back at Atlas with intent to find out what was happening, after all, a smirk on a giant wolf's face can't be good. Atlas then back up a little, letting out a small howl, not enough for anyone else to hear and the air around his figure started to turn black. Soon enough, the figure of the wolf was gone and another outline was appearing. Out of the darkness came a smaller being, it looked familiar to Equinox. It was... a human. Atlas said "I can transform, I can fit on your ship, but listen to me, I cannot thank you enough for the ship and the manual, but I heavily insist that you come with me, you won't survive here, and besides, I need someone to show me around and find me friends, a team, a clan!"

Equinox's head dropped, he said one more thing "Go and look through the archives, a blue holographic table in the middle of some round, red, leather seats. When you are there, search for Dohmus Prime, there you will meet some very important people to me, they were my Family, they still are, but i'd rather they don't know where I am right now, i'd rather no one knows where I am right now". Atlas, being naturally excited, overlooked all of the things that implicated that this new character, Equinox was no longer happy in life. He rushed into the ship and went to the table, searching Dohmus Prime within the archives. A strange voice then startled him saying "coordinates to Dohmus Prime have been set, what next Master?". Atlas was confused, he stared back out of the door to see Equinox slowly turn towards him and look down to his wrist.

Equinox

Agility is key.
Equinox took off his helmet, dropping onto the floor. He then fell to his knees and his face lit up with a blue light from the HUD of his WristPad. The blue light clearly reflected water droplets from his eyes. He was crying. He pressed a button on the WristPad and spoke into the small microphone. He said "Close the door and fly the ship to that location, through the safest but fastest way possible". The door slowly closed and Atlas realised what was going on, he tried to run towards the door to get out before the ship started rising, but it was too late. The door closed before he escape so he rushed to the window to the side of the door. Atlas saw Equinox waving and eventually running away towards the glow of the light. The ship's boosters turned fully on and the ship began to get further away, before the ship was out of site Atlas heard one last thing, the howls of the Scar Clan, loud and clear, from where Equinox had been running. Atlas could safely assume that Equinox, had been killed...

Before Atlas had time to weep, the stars around the windows became blurred as the ship went into light speed. He would soon arrive at Dohmus Prime...

"They're pretty cool, yeah. For the most part, my time with them went pretty well. It's just at the beginning I had a few hiccups."

He chose not to elaborate on said hiccups, like almost getting his foot blown off by a mine...while immediately prior unable to find any minds with his detector. He got the vibe that Charlie thought he was kind of cool, and the librarian didn't want to ruin that impression!

"So about Tython again, would you be opposed to showing me this Enclave? I always like meeting with other Jedi sects."

Part of his primary job was collecting all Jedi materials he could find, so naturally, he liked to visit with other Jedi organizations when he could. Then Charlie had piqued his interest with their secretive ways.

The computer moved its Scorpion in pursuit of his Dweemon. In response, he kept pushing right, but not before having his alien arachnid friend leave a hidden trap in the hex - a mess of webs to ensnare the other monster.

He was starting to feel really good about this, but alas, his opportunity to win would be dashed as his communicator started to chirp. It was Lt. Commander Keyes, captain of the Knave.

"Finley here, what's up?"

"One of those fancy probes of ours just picked up some activity not too long ago. Hyperspace reversion in the Ottabesk system. What scant records we have of the place shows a history of nil civilization. Something to worth looking into."

Finley grinned. An opportunity to uncover a new civilization? He couldn't say now to that.

"Let's do it. Make the jump whenever you're ready."

"I'd hope you say that. We'll be off in a few minutes, then."

"Awesome, thank you."

He flipped off the communicator, glancing back over at Charlie, then Knight Yumi sitting by herself in silence.

"Looks like the wait is over, guys. We may be making first contact shortly."

Charlie smiled and nodded. A part of her did miss a little bit of Tython, it was her home for a small chunk of her life and besides the Rest it was the only home she remembered. “I wouldn’t be opposed of course there are some…” At that moment Charlie remembered and realized that Sky’ito Yumi was in the room with them. The Padawan closed her mouth and smiled. “We can talk about it more in depth later. There’s somethings that I’d have to share with you.” The sect she was from was extremely secretive, she already in the first place shouldn’t have even thought about bringing Finley, but she wanted him to learn more about her in an odd sort of way.

She continued to watch him play and while he was doing well, the communicator made noise. Charlie watched and listened the best she could. It was probably a good thing that there was the interruption, she didn’t want to get too deep into Tython with more than Finley’s ears receiving the information.

Excitement rushed through her when the Pathfinder looked her way and announced their trip was coming to contact. She tucked her book into her bag and prepared for the jump to where ever they were headed.

Sukai broke her 'meditation' as the report filtered through the cabin, poking open an eye to look back at the other members of the order, "first contact, you make it sound as if we are meeting some new creature never yet before seen in the world". Cracking her knuckles the junior knight stood up, walking over to the duo as the ship, "though it will be interesting to see what is up in this planet, even my own family records have little on what this place is like".

"What do you think well find there? a barren planet? a smugglers den or some ancient Sith lord trying to make their own empire"? she asked with a slightly amused look. With how much time has passed since any major event had happened, and with no major power in complete control of the galaxy there were very few people willing and able to come to a place like this.

Equinox

Agility is key.
Equinox took a long, hard thought about what he had just done. And then he realised that no one would want to lose him. He may have done some bad things but he had friends, he had family. His ship had only just gone into light speed and so before it could get too far away he spoke into his WristPad telling the ship to stop in it's tracks and to come back to his position. This new Atlas character would be a good accomplice to Equinox and he suddenly wanted to get to know him. He still regereted what he had done in his life but rather than giving up, he should fight to make it right, rather than leave his life behind as a villain. The ship was soon in site again and he hoped the wolf hadn't gone started to hate Equinox for what he had done.

The ship slowly came back into Ottabesk's atmosphere and landed in the same place it had taken off from. The door opened again and Atlas stepped outside, before he did anything else he once again started to morph. Atlas morpehd back into the massive wolf that he was before. Then he had a confused expression upon his face. All Equinox did was run up and hug the wolf. He was just so happy that he had met this wolf because it had made him think about his life again.

(OOC: If you are wondering why I changed the storyline all of a sudden, it is for 2 reasons. 1) My faction have kinda voted to keep Equinox alive and become the accomplice of Atlas, my new character. 2) You guys seem to be coming to Ottabesk now and I didn't want to let you down :) )

"That's exactly it, Yumi. First contact!"

If not First Contact exactly, then it would certainly close to it. There was no record of civilization ever being on Ottabesk. It could be that they were about to stumble upon pirates that had made an uninhabited planet their base, or something else mundane, but the young Jedi held out the hope it wasn't the case.

"The hope is that we find something friendly. I've honestly had mixed results in my career. While this is a scientific organization we see a fair bit of combat dealing with strange groups that have had little to no contact with the wider galaxy. There's still whole swatches of space in the Unknown Regions, Wild Space, and even here that's just totally alien to us."

He waved Charlie and Yumi to join him, heading for the bridge to speak with Commander Keyes. There was a mission to plan.

ZXDmlmR.png

A relatively short while late, the had made it to the sector, though the Knave itself wouldn't be entering the system as a safety precaution. He was now down in the hangar with a small survey team, about to board one of two Luna transports. Since coming down to the hangar, he had changed, casual wear replaced by a hardsuit, helmet tucked under his arm.

"Okay, the survey drone has locked itself in orbit with Ottabesk. Initial scanning has revealed that the planet has a Type 1 atmosphere, but we're going to still seal ourselves off for now because of the threat of microbe contamination both ways - be sure you're only using equipment sanitized, btw."

"Our primary goal will track the origin of that hyperspatial disturbance and see if it has anything to do with the planet. The probe has detected life on the planet, so our secondary objective will be cataloging specimens as we find them, possibly bring some back to the Knave for further study. Any questions?"

((You're quite alright, thanks.))

Charlie adjusted the hard suit, they were never really made for someone of her height, but she made the best of a weird situation. She adjusted her hair and made a small bun that rested on the nape of her neck. The helmet found its way on her head as she listened to Finley, there were parts of the boy that reminded the small padawan of her mentor. Before fully sealing the helmet, she shoved a piece of gum into her mouth, just in case she got the craving to eat something. The gum would keep her mouth occupied.

She kept her lightsaber tucked and hidden from view, bringing it meant she felt a little safer than necessary. Having the force meant you always had a weapon, but one couldn’t fully rely on just that. There was so much out there that nullified the force. Feeling helpless was something she never wanted to feel.

A woosh sound echoed as she was sealed into her helmet, looking down at her pack she found all the necessary tools she needed to help with the research. Charlie looked forward to looking at the flowers that were on this planet. It was always her favorite thing to find – maybe she could convince Finley to let her bring a sample back to Jyoti to add to her garden.

Charlie raised her hand to get Finley’s attention, “There’s been nothing marked as hostile right?”

"Yes like first contact" 'for us that is', with how far spread out many past empires were chances that this planet had very well been scouted out or even settled. The problem being what happened to those empires along with there history? destroyed? lost or in some for we cant understand? She did not give it to much thought, the main mission at hand being the primary focus for the time being.

Sukai was not entirely used to hard suits, never having to really wear on in the past, having to adjust the clothing to make it fit properly, she too finding that her waist long hair became a problem, Sukai putting the long black strands into a pony tail. Her ears stayed open while finishing off the final adjustment, sealing down the helmet once [member="Finley Dawson"] finished his speech.

"Yes, what if the plants are hostile"? she joked, following [member="Charlie Nooran"]s example, eyes scanning the wide open spaces filled with all types of flora, some looking familiar other seeming new and strange, hopefully not deadly or poisoness. Hopefully no poisoness to affect her, but it didn't not hurt to be to careful, the Knights lightsabers hanging from her belt within easy arms reach. "Well it looks pretty, that much can be said".
