Campaign Walk in the Park. (SJC)

Was there any worse hive of scum and villainy in the galaxy than here? That is the thought that Jae refused to let form as the transport had landed on Commenor. This was the home of the perfidious Jedi alliance, the belly of the beast. Taking a deep breath he considered for a moment the predicament he was in. Last time he was in Jedi space he had been arrested, and now here he was again with a Sith Artifact that was considered, by Kyra at least, to be dangerous.

The first thing Kyra had done upon arriving on the planet of Commenor was take him clothes shopping, Jaesons half maintained torn and otherwise ramshackled appearance was just unacceptable. She’d taken him to a Chase Fashion outlet. Jae didn’t let his eye twitch as he entered and wondered for a moment why she had a discount at his volatile and psychopathic clone templates meager kiosk. A thought that vanished when he was stuffed into a changing booth and outfitted with jackets and shirts and pants stuffed through the screen and hurled with abandon at him. After that he remained red faced.

Everything took time. It took time to get from Sith space to Jedi space and it took time to gather provisions and supplies and properly equip a vessel. Jae had settled in renting a small place while preparations were made. It was a hole in the wall, a glorified closet but it was his again. Access to the various libraries and archives of the Jedi provided valuable insight into his quest and he was sure he had the system pegged down for the garden after two weeks. The pulp archeologists on the holovids would just be adventuring, but the truth was most of the adventure was done with your nose in a book.

Jaeson had the line of credit from his mysterious benefactor and was making good use of it. Analysis gear, deep ground penetrating scanners, food, small ground craft, sensor satellites and a wide array of detection tools were purchased in storage and ready for deployment. What he needed first, and had waited to get last, was a ship.

He could have bought a used starship with the money he had, placed some more advanced sensors in the cargo bay, but he had other ideas.

Networking, it was called, but really it was just play acting. Jaeson had entered into various offices and found himself schmoozing with the assembled personages and gaining various trusts. He had tried, unsuccessfully to take the direct route, but Damian Starchaser hadn’t accepted genetic encryption within his company meaning his planend ruse failed. Other third parties weren’t so fortunate.

It had taken a minute to find a petty bureaucrat to verify his dna encoding. Indeed he was Damian Starchaser legally as far as that person was concerned. From there he filed paperwork and arranged for documents and then got ready.

The vessel he wanted had been on the local news and he just couldn’t help himself. He walked tot he dockyard and presented the documents in hand. Starchaser Enterprises and Chase Technologies had devised a new exploration vessel. With paperwork in hand he insisted that Damian Starchaser had offered the vessel at cost. It would wipe his accounts, but he would be owner of this little jewel.

A smug smile crossed his face as he began to oversee packing the cargo onto the vessel. Now they just needed a crew…. Little did he know that when Kyra said she’d handle it she meant she would throw up literal flyers around the places where the Jedi gathered on Commenor…

The idea that soon he'd been walking at the ancient site, the Garden of Qadesh filled him with excitement.

Of course her father had sent her out on the job. Kaia Starchaser was a Warden of the Sky, and that meant she was was also working as a Shadow for the Jedi Order. Not necessarily the Silvers, but just the edi as a whole. She was a Starchaser and that meant she had to keep a watch on certain things. Certain ships were being purchased and her father knew that Damian wasn’t seeming to be the one to make that purchase. As much as the Patriarch and her… cousin person didn’t always see eye to eye lately, Coren was starting to pay attention to other Starchasers.

And Damian didn’t have a need to go through a third party to get a ship. Least of all a prototype that was being built by his own company. As a result, Kaia had taken out her A-Wing and making her way from the Dawn Treader towards Commenor. She had finished a few patrols of the Rim in her YT-2400, but the Pulsar was needing some repair work. Hence the Snapper, her father’s old A-Wing. The black and blue fighter was a lot quicker in real space, but a bit more cramped. Still, she had her old YT-2400 for most things.

This was supposed to be an in and out mission to Commenor.

The young Jedi Padawan licked his teeth softly.

Kyra Perl Kyra Perl approaching him wasn't entirely unsurprising, the young duo had found themselves bonding after every mission they ended up taking part in together. When she sort of vaguely directed him towards one of her many flyers, he understood exactly why she had approached him.

He had never hidden his love for adventure, for finding new things. The mission that had been set had peaked his interest. It was somewhere he had never heard of, but it was definitely somewhere new and was certainly going to be a new adventure, a new discovery.

The young boy had rose in the early hours.

He had bid fair well to Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei . The duo had been staying on Commenor since returning from their weekend away on Corellia. Caden had experienced way too much on his home world, too many things he wanted to look into privately and with his Master.

He would keep his experiences to himself for now, his research private. It had nothing to do with the mission at hand, and if he started going on about it he had a feeling he'd just annoy people. His experiences on Corellia were unlikely to affect the group that was gathering.

The young Jedi Knight had approved the mission, as Caden had expected. He had always preached that you learnt best through experiences, and Caden had argued that there was no better experience than throwing yourself into a mission. Plus, if anything went wrong, he was surrounded by people who would keep him safe and return him back to Commenor in one piece.

He had dressed soon after rising, and obviously before bidding fair well to his master. He had dressed simply, his Chase Edgewear T-shirt and Chase Racewear Jacket with plain old trousers below, all held up by his
Jal Shey Belt. In his rucksack sat his Jedi Robes, wrapped up neatly and stored away, housing his Chase Spymaster. He could swap the Spymaster out for the Chronometer if he needed to.

He had his
Chase Wilderness Chronometer strapped to his wrist, with his HoloLink XJ9 on his other wrist. In his trouser pocket he had the Chase Flashpoint, ready for any moments notice and attached to his t-shirt lay his Theia Glasses. He was equipped for whatever may face them.

At his side, his
lightsaber swung gently as he walked. Opposite the weapon lay his blaster of choice, his LPD-11 Heavy Blaster Pistol. He assumed he wouldn't need either weapon, but it was nice to have them none the less. He had learnt recently that there was never any harm in being over prepared for a mission.

Chirp followed behind. Caden had opted to bring the little droid along, he could very much be useful in most situations. He was also nice company to have around, a sign that Caden was entirely capable of building something competent that worked. Most of the time.

The ship in front of him was clearly new in design, a ship he hadn't seen before. He assumed it had been commissioned for the mission that they were about to undertake. Caden kind of hoped he would get a chance to fly it. It had been a while since he had last genuinely flown a ship and he wanted to try and brush up some of his skills a little.

He handed his backpack to one of the droids loading the ship and patted Chirp lightly on the dome. The droid was going to follow Caden no matter what, so the young Jedi didn't even bother instructing the droid to wait. Instead, he walked over towards the group of people who appeared to be gathering. The force was telling him they were the right people he needed to speak to, if nothing else.

He gave a gentle, respectful bow.

He studied one of the members of the group softly. He recognized the boy instantly, though he was sure it wasn't who he thought it was. The boy ( Jaeson Starchaser Jaeson Starchaser ) looked the exact split of Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser , one of the few Jedi Masters whom he could truly call a friend.

He was sure that Damian didn't father any children (that he knew of), and almost entirely sure that Damian didn't have an identical brother who looked closer to his own age that the age of his friend. Instead, Caden assumed it was pure coincidence that they looked so alike.

"My name is Jedi Padawan Caden Evesa, the little guy goes by Chirp. Padawan Kyra Perl told me to meet some people here, something about a mission and some ship? I hope I'm in the right place, I don't really explore Commenor all that much, more a woodland guy myself"

He pulled out the crumpled paper from his pocket and unfurled it, scanning its contents once again.

Looks like the place.

The flyer had found itself in Centin’s possession seemingly by chance when it blew past him on one of Commenor’s busy streets. He had noticed the words “adventure!” and “expedition” written across the top, the attention grabbers having successfully grabbed his attention.

Where they would be going he had no clue. Or what they were doing. Or who was coming. Really, he knew nothing other than that some sort of adventure was promised. And that was enough.

He now stood at the designated meeting place, a landing pad that seemed to be a hive of activity. Droids moved quickly to load crates aboard a ship as other figures stood nearby observing the droids’ work.

Right, time for introductions then.

There was a small internal groan at the thought. He hated meeting new people. Well, most new people, that is. Centin strode forward and joined the group, surveying his fellow adventurers. He raised a hand in greeting as he approached, trying to put his best put forward.

“Hey everyone. I’m Centin,” he said as he held up the flyer with his other hand. “Is this the meeting spot for the cool kids club?”

It was quite astounding how quickly things could change. But then, here he was - having spent a few months with the Soller Navah and then a few more among the Silver Jedi Order. It was obvious to him that his life had changed completely and utterly and from what he had experienced so far, it was probably for the better.

The changes were not only in regards to life philosophy and direction, of course, it affected many aspects of life, one of which was what equipment he carried. While still in direct possession of his stun baton around as well as his stim regulator and Ashlas guard wrist cuff, most other equipment was gone. The heavy armour was now replaced by jedi robes and the electroblade training sword had replaced his chaingun. Not entirely sure of the norms, he had also brought his trusty blaster pistol and while it was set to stun, it was still hidden deep within his robes - reserved for emergency use. With all things considered, he felt rather out of place with this new setup, lacking both the protection he had in the past as well as the firepower. In all frankness, it was something of a relief to not carry around such a deadly weapon but the protection was something which he missed dearly.

While he had spent most of his time on Kashyyyk so far, the former Mercenary also had the privilege of visiting their holdings on Commenor. Having wandered around aimlessly for a fair amount of time, he had finally stumbled upon a poster board. Grabbing one of the more colourful fliers, he gave it a read. Figuring that adventures were right down his alley, Mathieu decided to join up. Was this what 'letting the force guide you' meant? It was hard to tell, seeing as it felt more like a whim than anything to him.

Caring little for the more specific details of it all, the Padawan made his way to the landing pads where they were all supposed to meet. Arriving just in time to hear Centin Tillo Centin Tillo make his introduction, Mathieu smiled, guessing that he had found the correct group - or if nothing else, at least one person from it, causing him to happily add "I sure hope so" with an eager voice. Joining up with the others he raised a hand in a waving motion "I'm Mathieu Brion. I'm new here" he said, with directness and humility in equal measure. Letting out a chuckle, he added "I'm new to all of this, really" not specifying what he meant, the Morellian hoped that they would understand that he referred to being a Jedi - if not, they would find out soon enough.

Curiosity was the guiding force of Darlyn's life. His nigh-insatiable desire to learn more had gotten him in trouble before, many times in fact, but he had often found great advancement in his personal potential through it. It was that same curiosity that had brought him to his current height of power, his current position, and a life almost worth being happy with. Now, curiosity was what drove him to do something he would never have considered without an excessive amount of alcohol pumping through his blood, to the point of no longer being able to think all that hard about anything.

He was going to stand being around puddle ones.

Padawans, that was... but his girlfriend's misunderstanding of the word was too funny to ever let die. That, and it made the stomaching of being around kids less daunting and mentally exhausting. As it was, he had to prepare himself regardless, both for the company he would be keeping, and the risks. With that said, he retrieved both his currently functioning lightsabers, hiding them in his robes where you would be unable to see them. They might sense him, they almost certainly would, but he wasn't about to go advertising his more beloved weapons after losing one before.

On each of his hips, he strapped a holster and fitted one of his pistols to each. His personal blaster on his left hip, with a spare power pack in a pouch on his tunic belt resting nearby just in case he ran out. On his right, he holstered his Punisher Pistol, an older shattergun in his collection, with extra rounds filling his pouches... and a handful of explosive charges for the underbarrel. These he didn't hide, beyond the natural way his robes fell about him. The padawans, and others, would expect him to take a gun after all. And, of course, the whiskey flask tucked into his tunic, safe and secure.

He'd found out about this, naturally, on a visit to the jedi holdings on his planet. He'd been spending more and more time, looking for someone best suited to educate him on the finer points of certain forms, and found himself compelled to learn more. More, more... more. Hearing of new places had sparked that aforementioned curiosity, and had lead to his prepared, armed self making his way into the spaceport, flanked by several palace guards. His guards insisted on following him, even until they were within eyesight of the forming group. Only then would they accept his dismissal, leaving him to make his way to the assembled members making introductions.

Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion , Caden Evesa Caden Evesa , and Centin Tillo Centin Tillo made their introductions to Jaeson Starchaser Jaeson Starchaser , guess it was his turn then as the newest newcomer."Well since we're all sounding off, name's Darlyn Excron. Hope you brought snacks because I didn't bring anything to share with the rest of class." He was... certainly the oldest present as far as he could tell. Though granted, he aged quite slowly, and still could probably pass off as an older teen, or early twenties so who really could judge? He really had expected at least one jedi knight to be watching over them, though, as everyone didn't exactly feel all too present in the force. Hopefully that meant they couldn't feel his presence back, or he'd have plenty of explaining to do.

Then again if anyone called him out on being President, that still would leave plenty of explaining to do.

"We are totally the cool kid club," Kyra murmured to herself, the usually loud girl quiet and somber. The others were full of energy and excitement, but it was her amongst the group that stood still, her arm folded and crossed around her casted one.

She let everyone buzz, her expression reserved as she approached her friend. "Um. Jae." She swallowed hard, looking down. "I'm sorry but, I'm not going." Her voice grew tight as she spoke, a frog appearing in her throat. She glanced back once over her shoulders, a touch relieved to find so many reliable faces showed. It made it feel less shitty for her to say what came next.

"Something happened to my family. They-they need me right now. I can't- I can't just go gallivanting off this time." Frustration seeped into her tone as she said this. How many times had she skipped out on lessons and mission just to chase some fun? She couldn't help but to think Nida Perl Nida Perl 's fall to the darkside could have been prevented on that recon mission if Kyra had just been a little more aware.

A little more experienced.

Well, that started now.

"I'm sorry," she told him, attention turning to her toes.

"...I packed you cinnamon rolls?" Him. Her. Same diff.

Gladhanding. That’s what Jaeson had always thought of it even though it was simple introductions. In turn the new crew greeted him. “Jaeson Starchaser,” he’d say to each in turn before turning and showing the boarding ramp. “The various living quarters have open doors, mine is the closed door. Feel free to select your own rooms from those available. They aren’t as spartan as a military vessel but they aren’t exactly a coruscant penthouse either. ”

That’s when he saw the girls, or rather sensed her first crossing the spaceport. Jaeson smiled as Kyra approached, a half cocked little smile to hide the melancholy he had felt. He already knew what she was going to say just by the gait of her walk and expression and yet found the steel nerve to maintain his expression. Others were gathering, introducing each other and asking questions but in the moment none of that mattered to Jaeson.

Kyra had been with him for a small time in the grander scheme of things and yet she’d been around for the entirety of this little enterprise so far. Hell if he was honest with himself, which he always insisted he was, he was only really doing this for her.

Accepting the cinnamon rolls into his hand he stepped forward. It didn’t take a genius to figure out she was suffering and in pain, not just of a physical nature. “Kyra,” he said in a hushed tone looking down as well. “I really hate this place. I’m uncomfortable here, I feel like I am constantly looking over my shoulder waiting for the other shoe to drop or get arrested as a Sith agent again. I don’t know anyone besides you really, and that Jerek kid, and am living just as poorly as I did back home. But when I bring this thing back, when I do what I need to do….” he let his voice trail off. He wanted to say he’d stay with her, but that was selfish. He wouldn’t be staying for her, he’d be going for her, to act as her proxy in this thing. “So you know when I say this I..." A pause "When I am done I am coming back. And when I get back I will be here for you should you need anything.”

An awkward pause followed. Jae shuffled his feet a little looking back at the rest of the group. “You’ve been a good friend, perhaps my only real friend.” Turning he looked back at the assembled crew and then back to Kyra. “I don’t want to leave now.”

Kyra swallowed hard, her mind vibrating out into a numb haze has Jae spoke. Emotions were just so much, yanno? Just so much. Actions and words were more comprehensible to the still shell-shocked Perl, and it was his promise to come back and help her that touched her in that moment.

She rocked back on her heels, tongue bleeding as she pinned it between her teeth.

"You gotta do this. That-that thing is bad. You can't let em get at it. ... I'll be okay. ... Call me when you're back?" She offered, not turning down his offer. When it came to saving her sister, she knew she'd need all the help she could get.

She didn't wait for him to answer. She didn't want to linger here when she had pressing things to do. She sprung forward, giving him a fleeting hug. "Good Luck," she murmured. And with very little flair, the usually boisterous Perl ran off. Sometimes there's just not enough of you to go around.

She hoped to see him again.

Kyra wasn't coming.

She had recruited him to this mission and she was bailing due to family reasons. He wasn't going to question those problems, he had been having enough family issues recently. Kyra's issues were nothing to do with him, she would open up in time if she wanted.

He patted Chirp on the dome and looked at the group.

"We're all still with you. I don't have any idea where we're going but whatever we face, we'll face it together. Kyra needs to handle her own situation and we'll all help you handle yours. We'll be entirely fine, I'm sure of that fact"

He was attempting to do an impressive speech of some description. It wasn't very effective, at least not to him, but he had to try. He could hear in the young teen's voice how upset he was that Kyra wasn't coming with them, but if he could help inspire the group he would.

He boarded the ship, Chirp behind him.

He selected the first room that was free. One of the droids spotted him and brought his backpack over, placing it on the floor. Caden simply just kicked it into the corner of the room casually. Everything in there would come in useful, he was sure.

"You ready little guy?"

He looked at Chirp and smiled lightly at the little chirp response. The little droid was ready, as was Caden. He was upset that Kyra wasn't coming along, he wanted to spend the journey bonding with her but he had to just accept that it wasn't the time.

He checked his hair in the mirror, and grinned. It was time.

He froze. The new person who introduced himself as Darlyn mentioned snacks and while Mathieu had packed a few sandwiches, he knew that he didn't have anything sweet and sugary. There was something he had forgot to bring, of course there was. Still, it was too late to go back now - survival without snacks might be challenging, but it was possible.

When the last member entered, the mood quickly seemed to drop. The girl, whom was soon revealed to be a 'Kyra' wouldn't be coming along and judging by her gloom demeanour and mention of family, it was hard to blame her. Mathieu shared his expedition fellow members' concern for her, but of course, it would hardly run quite as deep as for those who already knew her and were familiar with her. Blending into the background, the Morellian let his gaze fall onto his shoes whilst trying to be as unintrusive as possible when the others explored more emotional waters.

Soon, Kyra ran off, leaving them the cinnamon rolls she had made. Considering the circumstances, it seemed very considerate.

Caden, the guy who had arrived a bit before Mathieu himself, then started to speak. While he did seem rather goal oriented, he also had one significant thing in common with the former Mercenary. Neither of them had any idea of where they were going. Figuring that there was little left to do at the platform, he soon followed suit, heading into the ship where he grabbed the room next to Caden's.

Not carrying much luggage, he simply threw his bag onto the bed before leaving the room again, hoping to get to know the others a bit better. "You ready little guy?" The voice could faintly be heard from the corridor where Mathieu was standing. Chuckling, he walked over to the open door "Some droids would be insulted if they knew that you questioned their readiness" he joked whilst leaning against the door frame. "Sounds like the two of you know each other well enough though. But judging by the meet-up outside, I take it you don't know any of the others either?"

Well his nephew's padawan was a mood killer if he ever knew one. Not that he blamed her, there were all sorts of reasons to be as upset as she was, and he could think of several that would make perfect sense given what little he could overhear. He folded his arms over his chest, mulling things over before nodding. "Well, gang's all here it seems and we've plenty of ground to cover. Long as we don't do anything too stupid you'll be able to keep your promises." He, having nothing more to say, simply moved past the last members of the group and onto the ship, following after the other two ahead of him.

He managed to catch the last comment of the boy who'd called himself Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion , and couldn't help a chuckle. "I have the distinct feeling no one present really knows anyone else. I don't frequent your temples, so I have very little experience with your kind... certainly not enough to recognize many, if any at all, of you by name or sight. Similarly you all seem quite content to stay far away from my sphere of work as well. Makes this a bit of an opportune time to learn for both parties, right new guy?" Well, if Mathieu was going to introduce himself as the new guy that's what he got to be! At least in Darlyn's mind.

Being the highly talkative sort today, and not wanting Caden Evesa Caden Evesa to feel remotely left out, he motioned to the saber on the boy's hip. "Never seen someone use a tooth like that. Collect it yourself? You'd have to be quite bold or clever to get something like that." He had a smile on his face bringing, he hoped, the discussion to weapons. Weapons and such were something he quite liked, particularly when it came to modifications to more standard devices. That made lightsabers a particularly fun topic, considering they were almost entirely individualized and more modified than anything short of, he supposed, mandalorian beskar'gams.

Being now in a confined space with the other two, there was a great rise in the likelihood they would be picking up on his dark aura, though he certainly would feel different from a Sith if either had ever met one. He was of course keeping it somewhat restrained, but having chosen to take Exar Kun's corrupted lightsaber with him meant its own darkness was constantly feeding into his own. Whether or not they sensed it was one thing, but he was rather making it clear he was on their side, best that he could. Hopefully that would come across..

Centin just caught a snippet of Kyra's conversation before she departed.

That’s right, he thought, remembering some of the events on Yavin. He’d only just heard about some of the stuff that had happened to the others while he had been occupied with his own fight, but he didn’t truly understand it at the time. He gave a respectful nod to the padawan as she left, unsure how to even begin broaching the subject. Best to just leave it at that, probably.

He stood in an awkward silence with the remainder of the crew on the landing platform as Darlyn Excron Darlyn Excron moved after the others. “Well I don’t want to be late to the party. See you inside,” he said, nodding to the others as he departed into the ship’s interior.

The padawan strolled about before eventually finding what he chose to be his quarters. He placed some of his minimal possessions inside and sat down for a moment. His eyes closed as he relaxed, enjoying the relative quiet. Then he remembered his master’s orders. Blast. I haven’t even been doing it today. But it’s not like I could walk around Commenor like that, surely someone would alert the authorities. He withdrew his vibroblade from its scabbard and held it in his hand. I don’t even understand the point of this exercise anyway.

The chatter about lightsabers coming from the hallway caught his attention. Intrigued, he moved into the now crowded hallway and joined the others. Blade still drawn he approached, making sure he looked as nonhostile as possible. He just managed to peek his head around the room’s threshold and caught a glimpse of Caden's saber. “Oh wow, Darlyn isn’t joking. Looks like whatever you took that from was pretty nasty.”

“My own proto... “

His words stopped short as he reached for his hilt, still unused to not having his own saber with him. “I mean, I’ve just got this,” he stated as he gestured towards the vibroblade. “And don’t mind me, my master said I’m supposed to keep it out at all times. Something about ‘bonding with your weapon’ or whatever.”

And then Jae was alone, of course it didn’t last for long as Caden spoke up behind him and provided a measure of comfort to him. He wasn’t bad for a Jedi, then again as of yet all the Jedi he had meant hadn’t been bad for Jedi. This small revelation meant he had to readjust his image of the Jedi. Darlyns comment however left him a bit stifled. The man was older and already adjusted to the group. Jaeson had envisioned a leadership position and age and reason would seem dictate that to not be the case here.

A frown formed on his face as he looked over at the group assembled. They were already talking, scheming, and going on. It was clear they knew each other and the realization made Jaeson feel more alone than he had been previously.

“Right,” he said with a sudden surge of confidence. “Well all aboard who's coming aboard I guess.”

Bounce back. With a deep breath he looked around at the various assembled crew members and gave a confident smile. It would be hard to hard to spot the insincerity of it, especially for those who didn’t know the youth.

Jaeson walked by the group sparing a moment to pat Caden on the shoulder as he passed, an indication of thanks for his kind words. “I’m heading to the cockpit,” a smile crossed his face. The vessel was larger than he’d normally like, but there was something about piloting that put him at ease.

The ship itself was sleek and elegant, a design stable of a fashion company getting into collaborative ship building no doubt. Sitting in the pilots seat he started to manipulate the controls checking off systems for preflight. Part of him couldn’t believe he was getting away with the little caper. No one had tried to stop him.

The ship took off into the sky flying over the desert below and sparking as it hit resistance in the atmosphere. There was a little shaking as Jae took the vessel out on a steep and fast trajectory, but it was soon abated as he entered the void of space. “Nav computer is setting coordinates,” he said into the ships intercom, “Once it has finished its calculations we will be jumping to hyperspace.”

A pause as he looked at the intercom. This was it, he was the captain. Okay so the people who came onboard as crew weren't exactly employees of a normal crew, but still it was something. The smile crept over his face at the thought, a brief respite from the melancholy state he’d found himself in since Kyra’s exit.

"No, not really"

He hadn't expected anyone to approach him, so when Mathieu Brion Mathieu Brion did choose to approach him, Caden thought it only right to answer him. He wasn't a talker, he never had been. He could handle talking to a group and providing motivational speeches, but one on one conversations were not his forte.

The young Padawan didn't know anyone on the ship.

Which meant when they all began to congregate in the hallway, Caden felt nothing if not awkward. He felt the aura of the darkness radiating from the older man in the hall, yet he decided not to mention it. If he was allowed in the Order, Caden was sure he had his uses.

He was only half paying attention to the conversation.

They were talking about his lightsaber that was clipped neatly onto his belt, specifically the inclusion of the rancor tooth that was attached to it. He unhooked it from the Jal Shey Belt around his waist and offered it around the group for each to study.

The young boy who seemed to be leading the mission came aboard soon after. He seemed to be radiating confidence, even though he'd just lost Kyra. The duo seemed close, almost too close for Caden's liking (even if he wasn't going to mention it, it wasn't anything to do with him). Even with all of that, he still seemed highly confident, and Caden couldn't blame him.

The pat on the shoulder was a sign of thanks, thanks for the speech that attempted to pull everyone together. Caden had no idea how useful his little speech was, but it was still nice to be shown even a little bit of thanks for it.

Jaeson headed to the cockpit, leaving the rest of the gang together. They weren't the most effective crew, by the looks of it most of them had never served on a ship before in their lives. Caden hadn't either, but had a pretty fair idea of how ships worked.

Caden joined the young leader in the cockpit soon after they jumped to hyperspace. Caden still wasn't entirely sure where they were going but he was putting all of his trust into Jaeson. He was putting so much trust into the boy that he had only just met.

He slid into the co-pilots chair besides the young boy. Both of them looked a little too young to be in the cockpit of a ship but here they were. Neither of them looked old enough to be doing what they were doing, but here they were.

"Figured I'd be of use up here"

He looked at Jaeson and offered a gentle smile. Flying was his experience, and he looked through gauges and flicked a few switches and buttons that Jaeson had missed. Nothing major, nothing serious, just a few minor things like the aircon and showers.

"So, what is there between you and Kyra?"

She was on the trail of the ship, wondering just where it was going, it couldn’t be Damian, could it? She doubted it strongly. She didn’t have her ship, so that meant she was down her pet and her probe droid. They were both secure aboard the Dawn Treader, so that wasn’t a problem. But as her A-Wing reverted to real space in the space around Commenor. She was checking her scanners and looking for the ship. What was she looking for… If it wasn’t Damian, who was it?

Shaking her head, she tapped into the ship’s sensors with her implant, using her own brain to interact with her ship’s systems. Scanning and looking for a ship that matched what she was told to look for, she saw it after a few moments of finding. Backing her mental self out of the implant and back into her body, she was grabbing the controls and following the locked ship. Her weapons weren’t online, but she was watching for the ships weapons and their hyperdrive.

Pushing the throttle forward, she nodded to herself. She needed to catch them. Warming up her comms. “This is Warden Starchaser. Requesting docking permission.” She wasn’t going to do any good from out here, her A-Wing and all. But if she was aboard? And needed to take it down?

Jaeson didn’t mind the company in the cockpit, someone similar to him in age and maybe disposition to talk to. Of course the other youth had immediately asked what there was between him and Kyra and really what was there?

His face grew a shade of red as he contemplated. He had met her on zeltron… at a pool. He could still vividly remember her jumping out of the water and splashing him as he was trying to read a book. He’d been irritated at the time, irrationally so, assuming that the entire planet was out to pheromone drug him and force him into making bad decisions. Of course it didn’t help that half the tourist traps on the planet were designed to do that with locals genetically and culturally inclined to do likewise.

The internal debate was if he could not admit his feelings for Kyra. The truth was he wasn’t sure how to explain it to himself nevermind another youth. Youth and inexperience meant he was unsure of exactly the definition. Then again could anyone define feelings in such a matter of fact? “Kyra is a friend…” he said finally. It was true enough. How good of a friend would he like her to be? Let the other lad infer what he will.

Looking at the screens. A ship was approaching. He had been standing up ready to leave when the comlink flashed and he heard who was approaching. Warden Starchaser. That wasn’t good. Jae leaned over to the com and pressed down the talk button “Uh negative Warden Starchaser the pattern is full.” Looking over at Caden he gave a concerned smile. “Nothing suspicious going on here…”

Caden's hands danced over controls.

He felt at home in the cockpit of a ship, he felt at home flying. It was also very relaxing, took his mind off of the news that Jaeson with giving him. He had asked the question not quite sure he wanted to hear the answer that Jaeson had for him.

The young boys face had turned red as he thought about an answer. To Caden, that was an answer in itself. Jaeson clearly had feelings for the young Perl, and Caden didn't blame him. He himself was starting to realize how special Kyra Perl Kyra Perl actually was.

Before he could even answer, he heard the voice come over the com channel. He heard Jaeson's voice return comment soon after. He even noted the concerned smile sent his way. Caden had noticed every detail of the situation and how concerned Jaeson was.

"Just fly casual, we'll be fine"

He allowed his fingers to dance over a few more controls, adjusting certain power levels and battery modes. He was keeping care to not alert the Warden of the ship, it was probably for the best. It was obvious that Jaeson didn't want her onboard.

"Relative of yours? How many of you god damn Starchasers are there?"

It was a short response that his fellow Padawan provided, but it was a good start. Some conversations started flowing on well naturally, others had to be kicked, dragged and carried before they would even start resembling something of a friendly interaction. A smile spread across his lips "Then we've got something in common. You were Caden, right? For how-" his sentence was cut short as something started feeling wrong. Glancing over to his side, the Morellian saw Darlyn approach. He could not pinpoint if the man was the source of what made him feel uneasy but at least he seemed rather pleasant.

Letting out a chuckle, the new Padawan responded "I think you might learn more from some of the others. They know more of what it is like being a Jedi than me. I know where my classes are, where the food is and where I sleep." he joked before eyeing the man curiously "But where do you spend your time if not at the Jedi temple?"

The conversation soon shifted over to lightsabres as Darlyn and then Centin admired Caden's weapon. Mathieu looked at it, fantasising about the day when he would get one of his own. That day was far in the future, however, and not all that relevant to what was happening now. What was relevant was that Caden managed to slip away to the cockpit. Getting past the lot of them on his way there.

It was rather curious to see his fellow Padawan carrying around his weapon in the open like he did. Eyeing him and then the sharp end of his weapon, Mathieu spoke "Well, as long as none of us will have to bond with that blade of yours, we should be alright." Letting out a chuckle, the Morellian soon spoke on a more serious note "But what does your master want you to learn? How to not stab people by accident the hard way?"

It wasn’t going to take Kaia long to dock as long as she had been given the permissions. She didn’t exactly have an attack terminal aboard her A-Wing and that was going to make things mighty tricky if she was going to need to hack her way aboard. Or sneak on, she supposed. Didn’t matter. She would do what was needed to be done. She was a Warden, a Judge, a Jedi. This was a ship, in space, that was definitely her domain. As she heard the call back from the ship she rolled her eyes.

“I don’t think so, no traffic up here. And from what I’m hearing that ship is hot.” She spoke over the comms, clearly using Rim dialect and not being as proper as someone from the Core. She didn’t really care about the stolen ship, people stole ships all the time. It was more that someone was masquerading as another Starchaser, that was the problem.

“Can let me aboard, Slick, or I can track you and board you with something bigger. Your choice.”
