Vizcanyo Bay, Mephout

y21CAWQ.png

The warm, golden glow of the setting sun bathed Vizcanyo Bay in a serene light, the cityscape alive with shimmering reflections off its crystalline waters. Grand Vizier Ivalyn Yvarro stood on the Skywave Terrace of the Azure Crown Resort, the rooftop's infinity pool mirroring the fiery hues of the horizon. Beside her, Merryn Sellek, Chief of Operations at Aurora Industries, offered a quiet comment, earning a small smile from Ivalyn as they prepared to descend together. The day's events, though cloaked in elegance, were anything but casual. Tonight's private affair would center on clean energy and investment opportunities, promising to shape the future of the Imperial Commonwealth.

The hum of sophisticated conversation and the occasional clink of crystal glasses filled the air as the pair moved gracefully toward the atrium. The Coral Lumina District was alive with an understated opulence, from the Luminara Pavilion to the Crystal Shoreline Promenade, its soft lights casting shimmering reflections across the tranquil waters.

As Ivalyn and Merryn reached the grand atrium, the first arrivals of note entered—figures like Judah Dashiell of Dashiell Incorporated and Lodd Grimmin of the Trade Federation. Among them stood Hoku Kalani, a Mon Calamari prospect from the Levantine Outback, his sharp eyes scanning the room with quiet curiosity. Ivalyn's gaze lingered on Hoku for a moment; his presence signaled not just a potential investment partner but also an opportunity to extend the Commonwealth's influence to the distant regions of the galaxy.

Her hand in Merryn's, Ivalyn looked over at her with a warm smile. "How do I look?" Ivalyn whispered, with a smile as she smoothed out her cuffs. She wore a long, fitted coat in midnight blue. The coat was fitted with subtle metallic accents at the collar and cuffs. It flowed gracefully as she walked beside her partner, the outfit emphasized her authority. Beneath it, a high-necked tunic in a deep charcoal, paired with sleek, tailored trousers that allowed ease of movements. Polished boots in a gorgeous obsidian leather it was a practical touch for the venture, after all they would be touring various districts throughout the city. The boots low heels were designed for comfort without sacrificing style. She wore a platinum clasp around her coat, with the engraved insignia of the Imperial Commonwealth. Her hair was pinned back in an intricate, yet restrained style, the single signet ring on her hand completed the look but spoke of her station as the Grand Vizier. Thus, wielding the authority of the High Basileus herself.

A small chuckle left Ivalyn, "well I had to be sure." There was a whisper a touch of mention that all eyes were once more on her.

Ivalyn allowed herself a faint smile, her demeanor poised yet commanding. Together, they stepped forward to greet their guests, the soft hum of music and ocean waves providing a harmonious backdrop. Tonight wasn't just about Vizcanyo Bay's grandeur—it was about vision, progress, and building alliances that would outlast even the glittering lights of the city. "Welcome to Vizcanyo Bay, I trust your travels were well." The Grand Vizier greeted.

Hoku wasn't that used to a lot of communications towards him. He was a Mon Calamari that had a limited set of skills, and that was all in the energy market, or if needed, to making arms and armor. Things the up-and-coming explorer would need. Environmental suits, alternative power generation for small settlements, ascension cable firing sidearm, typical things. His lab was aboard one of the aged Mon Calamari star cruisers that doubled as an explorer and he was typically over by Mon Cal space, but they were always willing to travel. A few connections along the way definitely kept him and his team employed, and so much that they had worked out their own corporation.

Next Depth Design was the company, and the scientists that he had working with him were all that, the next depth, or in surface parlance, the next level. Designing primarily energy alternatives for others to put into fabrication, the company had began holding several entry level patents in solar, wind, and especially tidal power. All clean running, with new options being designed for various types of worlds and clients.

They were helped in their endeavors by Dani Stellaris, a human… of sorts, from Firefist that helped link them to smaller areas looking to tip the status quo into something that wasn't managed by someone else. Hoku was one of the representatives sent down to Mephout, and gratefully, their Vizcanyo Bay region. Coastal, but not as humid as he'd prefer. Dressed in as good-of-fashion as he could manage, the Mon Cal still had a collar that allowed for misting his face should the humidity drop.

See? Survival of all.

The Mon Calamari made his way, with his escort, just two others, another Mon Calamari, and a Duros, both leaders in their fields of energy engineering, and materials sciences, through the Bay city, eschewing public transport in order to walk the streets and byways to get a feel of this city, really to get the experience, with Hoku's small probe droid following off to his side, recording the vistas for the design team.

That was not him.

Making his way to the prescribed meeting place and time, he offered a more bulbous head nod to the Grand Vizier, as a way of greeting.

"Hello Vizier Yvarro." He was fairly certain this was a human female. But he'd been wrong more than a few times before. "I am Hoku Kalani, Project Manager of Next Depth Designs." His voice was aqueous, as expected.

The Trade Federation was closely monitoring the Commonwealth following the Battle of Muunilinst, particularly as the Banking Clan retreated to their alternative stronghold on Scipio due to the aggressiveness of the Dark Empire and the expansion of the Bastion Diarchy.

The region had been peacefully integrated into the Sith Empire through the direct efforts of the Trade Monarch, who engaged in personal negotiations with the Commonwealth Government to secure mutual advantages in trade and commercial agreements.

The conference on Mephout with the Grand Vizier Ivalyn Yvarro Ivalyn Yvarro provided the perfect opportunity to establish a more formal alliance through energy investments as a counterweight to the Kingdom of Korriban underneath the leadership of King Darth Caedes Darth Caedes whose growing ambitions could lead to a direct conflict with the Kainites, directly impacting the Federation's bottom line.

Lodd was uncertain whether these thoughts stemmed from heightened paranoia or contained an element of truth; however, he recognized the necessity of ensuring that they did not diminish to a secondary role in the sphere of Galactic politics.

A squad of Neimoidian Royal Guard advanced ahead of him in order to make sure that the pathway was clear, as he had no shortage of enemies within the galaxy that would delight in the fall of the Neimoidian species.

Once the all-clear signal was made, did the Monarch emerge from the shadows of protection next to Project Manager Hoku Kalani Hoku Kalani who had just gotten done making an introduction.

"Yes...Grand Vizier Yvarro. We suffered no ill-comforts during our journey to the planet." Lodd replied with typical smoothness in his voice.

VIZCANYO BAY

Unlike some others, Judah had dressed a bit more casually in his tan suit, the style lending to the tropical oasis that was Vizcanyo Bay. He was relaxed, whisky on the rocks in hand, enjoying the atmosphere. While he owned an island home in the area, he rarely visited lately, spending much of his time closer to the Mid-Rim and Core due to familial obligations. Not that he had forgotten the Commonwealth, far from it. Plans were underway to build a research and development complex in the territory, with a large focus on different types of energy and solutions to power the future. Big to small as well, Dashiell Incorporated was even looking at making units small enough to power family homesteads.

Eyebrow perked at the sight of Senator Grimmin arriving with such a show of force. Personal protection really. Had there been an attempt on the capitalists life? Judah hadn't heard anything but to be fair, he had been sticking close to his own over the past month or more. News could easily bypass one in the universe if they weren't too careful.

Introductions made by Mister Kalani - who seemed rather interesting - and the good Senator, Judah supposed he was up next to greet the Grand Vizier.

"Grand Vizier, Miss Sellek. A pleasure to see you both again, thank you for the invitation."

There from the grand atrium, Ivalyn stood posed at the center of the gathering. Merryn at her side, the Grand Vizier took in each arrival with careful consideration. Her expression polite but assessing. When the Mon Calamari, Hoku Kalani, stepped forward and greeted her, she inclined her head gracefully, the faintest trace of a smile crossing her lips.

"Project Manager Kalani," she began, her tone measured, with just the right amount of warmth to make her words inviting, "your reputation precedes you. It's a privilege to have you here. I trust Vizcanyo Bay has offered a suitable introduction to the Commonwealth's vision. We believe in creating spaces that balance innovation with the living world."

Her gaze shifted as Lodd Grimmin approached, his Neimoidian Royal Guard flanking him with practiced precision. Ivalyn's smile remained fixed, though it carried a subtle weight, acknowledging the show of protection without comment. "Senator Grimmin, I'm pleased your journey was comfortable. Your presence here signifies the importance of collaboration as we chart new courses forward. I look forward to your insights."

Finally, she turned to Judah Dashiell, her demeanor softening slightly as she nodded toward him and Merryn, who stood just at her side. "Mr. Dashiell, always a pleasure. Your ongoing work speaks volumes about the power of practical, forward-thinking innovation. It's gratifying to see the potential for self-sufficient energy solutions extend to those who need it most."

The blonde looked over at her beau for a moment and after a moment, she returned her attention to the corporate partners before her.

Ivalyn's gaze swept briefly over the group, her voice firm yet inviting as she gestured toward the elegant space behind her. "Please, let us continue inside. We've arranged a demonstration to highlight the opportunities before us, but first, I hope you'll take a moment to enjoy the hospitality of Vizcanyo Bay." She stepped aside with practiced ease, her presence exuding authority while welcoming her guests into the next stage of their discussions.

"One of the most critical goals of the Commonwealth is sustainability," she began, her tone thoughtful yet resolute as her low heels clicked rhythmically against the polished floor. "Our resources must be cared for if they are to serve us for generations to come. Among those resources, energy stands as a cornerstone. Over the past year and a half—perhaps closer to two years—we have devoted ourselves to guiding each of our member worlds toward these goals."

Her words carried weight but also an undercurrent of determination. Leading the group into a private conference area, she continued, "Tonight's demonstrations will begin with progress on the Chokoloskee Energy District, a project that Mr. Dashiell and our Commonwealth Corps of Engineers have both monitored and worked on diligently. Following that, we'll turn our focus to Baralou, specifically the cities of Voriqaano and Xaymaca, where innovative solutions are shaping the future of energy and infrastructure."

Ivalyn paused briefly, allowing the group to settle before she outlined the next steps. "We'll also be introducing new technology, including the Geothermal Stabilization and Energy Harnessing System alongside its Seismic Stabilization Nodes. Additionally, the Smart Grid Integration Network will be presented. Afterward, we'll head to the Flats for a firsthand look at these advancements in action."

Her voice remained steady, each word intentional, as she concluded, "This evening is not just about showcasing progress but about fostering partnerships that will make these initiatives flourish. Together, we have the ability to create something enduring—something that serves not just today's Commonwealth but the generations to follow." She gestured toward the conference table, inviting them to sit, her expression resolute yet encouraging as the evening's agenda began to unfold.

Oh, so there were a few different beings coming here. Maybe Hoku was out of his depth. His pet project and team were doing fine for small organizations, but this was a Grand Vizier, that meant a whole depth that he wasn’t sure they could float in. But they would do all they could. The majority of the team were Mon Cal, after all. They got knocked down so many times by the Imperial interests and kept going.

“It was a pleasure to see this area. I feel that even the Mon Calamari designers could learn from what your Bay area has.”
A very over exaggerated nod. And this was a woman. He could safely say that now. But what he wasn’t expecting was the others.

Human male, land dweller. Probably. And Nemoidian. They were maybe aquatic. But that was beyond what Hoku could safely say and he remained quiet on that. Giving gentle tentacled waves to the others gathered. When they were ushered inside, Hoku and his partners walked in with the rest and he paid close attention to every word.

Save resources, create anergy… The world was a normal world, wind, seas, solar… There were many options. Geothermal… Now that was something Hoku would love to see, it had always been under the sea for him. “It sounds like there is a wide array of offered technologies already. Would we be here to help expand? Grow opportunities?”

It came as no surprise that Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell also made an appearance, as they were starting to become quite the formidable player with numerous connections and that could be used by the Commonwealth to enhance their own financial strength. However, he refrained from labeling them as a direct competitor to the Trade Federation, as they had not yet attained the level of power and political clout that the Trade Federation had diligently cultivated.

He was removed from such internal considerations as Grand Vizier Ivalyn Yvarro Ivalyn Yvarro greeted everyone and began to explain their vision for sustainable energy aimed at securing the Commonwealth's energy autonomy.

It begged the question of why they were needed if the Commonwealth already possessed a pre-established vision. However, it soon became evident that the primary objective was to forge partnerships with credible organizations—sufficiently reputable to be publicly linked with such an ambitious policy initiative.

It seemed Project Manager Hoku Kalani Hoku Kalani shared similar concerns, seeking clarification on the specific areas in which assistance could be provided, given that preliminary work was already underway. Lodd was inclined to concur and intended to express these apprehensions once the Mon Calamari delegate had concluded.

"I must concur with Manager Kalani, as the Commonwealth seems to have the groundwork already laid out and the technology developed." He explained for a moment, before continuing.

"If its upfront monetary investment for the projects, then we would expect a large return on such investment to please our current shareholders. There is not much of an open pathway to benefit from sustainable energy compared to traditional power sources, without losing a large amount of credits on energy fees." Lodd finished.

For the most part, since coming down into the meeting space with Ivalyn, she had remained silent. This was Ivalyn's meeting to steer and to showcase what had been developed and what was going to be needed for the future of these projects. She did offer Mr. Dashiell a polite smile in response to his greeting though. She had to fight to keep her features neutral at the sight of the Neimoidian and his guards, flashes of the attempted assassination coming to her mind, relying on one of the techniques her Master had taught her to keep her anger in control. It would not do to be hostile in this meeting, not for Ivalyn's ambitions. The Mon Cal she was unfamiliar with.

Aurora Industries, while not an energy production company, did have experience in the develop of energy technologies that made them far less reliant on typical energy sources due to the Sianium project and its iterations. It was the technological side of the initiative that had drawn in Aurora investment and technicians, as the advances that could be created here could possibly be carried over into other technologies or even to other worlds. Lady Raaf, even if this hadn't been a familial or personal objective, would have insisted that the company participate.

"Consider this more of a showcase of the technologies and investment opportunity for expansion," she remarked quietly, looking over to Ivalyn before continuing, "These aren't large-scale yet, which is precisely what the Grand Vizier is hoping to grow towards. Aurora Industries is certainly interested in seeing how the technologies have developed and where they could potentially be used in other circumstances or worlds if successful."

Of course, the Trade Federation wanted a sizable return on investment, but what that might entail or the terms of such a contract, could be tricky and be dependent on the course of the presentation. She knew this project was Ivalyn's pet initiative and she would want to retain majority control over it for the Commonwealth, and from how the Senator sounded, financial backing from the Federation could have a lot of strings attached to it. But, right now, she was merely another representative for an interested company.

Judah wasn't sure if it was his age, current business standing, or just general mood on this trip but he was finding the overall interactions between everyone amusing. Lodd Grimmin Lodd Grimmin was surrounded by guards, concerned the Commonwealth invited him here to assassinate him? Project Manager Hoku Kalani Hoku Kalani seemed nervous, but it might be his first time on a larger stage. Judah didn't encounter many project managers who were out pitching their corporations. Usually tended to work behind the scenes.

"Call me crazy, but I think they want us to develop energy projects in exchange for credits. Now if you two would like to sit out of discussions, by all means please do. Sit back and relax, its merely more opportunity for myself."

He couldn't keep the amusement off his face. Despite the good time he was having, he still had business on his mind. His company had dabbled in different types of energy and there was one that never really took off. With plans for a research and development facility to be built in the area, it seemed a perfect time to put it back on the table.

"Years ago I developed an algae biofuel .Didn't do too much with it but it may be perfect for the Commonwealth. Locals who live on ocean planets can grow the algae, it can be refined easily with a bit of training and a facility. It can be a boom for more rural areas of the Commonwealth since the entry point is low. Many rural areas seem to rely more on fuels so this may be a good solution to bring economic prosperity to certain areas."

Judah paused.

"I'd love to discuss it more but I also have other ideas less formed."

Ivalyn Yvarro Ivalyn Yvarro | Merryn Sellek Merryn Sellek

Ivalyn listened attentively, her expression carefully measured as she observed each speaker. Her gaze, sharp and calculating, lingered on Hoku Kalani first, a faint smile gracing her lips as she nodded.

"Manager Kalani, your insights are appreciated, and I'm pleased you've found inspiration here in Vizcanyo Bay. Your expertise, offers exciting potential. Expansion and growth are precisely what we aim to foster, and your input will be invaluable in helping us refine and scale these technologies. The Commonwealth thrives on collaboration, and I hope your team feels empowered to share their unique perspectives."

Turning to Senator Grimmin, her tone shifted subtly, carrying the weight of diplomacy. "Monarch, I understand the apprehension surrounding returns on investment, particularly when the road to sustainable energy appears less lucrative in the short term. However, it's worth noting that these initiatives are not just about profitability; they are about creating resilient, self-sustaining systems that ultimately reduce dependency on traditional fuels. Long-term benefits often exceed initial expectations, not only in economic terms but in stabilizing communities and enhancing infrastructure."

She inclined her head toward Merryn with a soft smile, acknowledging her partner's remarks. "As Miss Sellek aptly stated, tonight is about showcasing opportunities and demonstrating our commitment to these technologies. We're not simply presenting concepts; we're sharing actionable plans, grounded in research and backed by the Commonwealth. Your support, Senator, could be pivotal in ensuring these projects reach their full potential while aligning with the Federation's own goals."

When Judah Dashiell spoke, his candor drew a slight raise of her brow and a flicker of amusement in her otherwise composed demeanor. "Mr. Dashiell, your pragmatic approach is refreshing. Algae biofuel is a fascinating prospect, particularly for oceanic and rural worlds within the Commonwealth. Its accessibility and low entry point could transform local economies while reducing reliance on imported resources. I look forward to exploring this idea further and seeing how it aligns with the broader initiatives we're presenting tonight."

The conference room was meticulously arranged, each chair paired with a sleek tablet linked to the holoprojector at the table's center. The air carried a palpable sense of anticipation, punctuated by the quiet hum of technology waiting to spring to life. Ivalyn stood at the head of the room, her posture composed yet commanding, her hands resting lightly on the edge of the table. The soft glow of the holoprojector illuminated her sharp features as the guests found their seats.

"For the moment," she began, her voice resonating with measured authority, "we shall set aside what the Commonwealth has already achieved and turn our attention to the innovations you bring to the table. I want to be clear—our demonstrations are not just for show. They are evidence of our unwavering commitment to sustainability, restoration, and self-reliance. These principles are more than just policies to us; they are a promise to our worlds, many of which endured the exploitation and devastation wrought by my forebearers in the First Order."

Her gaze swept across the room, ensuring her words resonated. "The Commonwealth has spent years reversing that course. We aim to restore what was lost, nurture what remains, and build a future where our worlds thrive independently yet remain united in purpose. Tonight, we are here to listen. Your ideas, your proposals, your aspirations—they are the lifeblood of what we hope to achieve."

As her words settled over the room, the holoprojector activated, casting the flickering images of three individuals into the air beside her. She gestured toward the holograms with practiced ease. "I have with us tonight, three of our Divan Ministers who have joined us this evening to underscore the Commonwealth's dedication to these initiatives."

The first figure, a stoic Chiss man, inclined his head slightly, his crimson eyes gleaming with intelligence. "Minister Thal'oren Vekar, Divan Minister of Economy and Trade," he introduced himself, his tone calm and authoritative. "My role ensures that the Commonwealth's economic framework supports initiatives like these, fostering growth and stability across our worlds. Tonight, I'm here to listen and to understand how your proposals align with our broader economic goals."

The image shifted, revealing an Echani woman with composed features and silver hair that seemed to shimmer in the light. "Minister Jara Tathis, Divan Minister of Science and Technology," she said, her voice precise yet welcoming. "Innovation and technology are at the heart of progress. The Commonwealth seeks solutions that not only address immediate needs but pave the way for sustainable advancements. I look forward to the ideas you will share tonight."

Finally, the hologram adjusted to depict a Half-Human, Half-Mirialan man with an approachable yet steadfast demeanor. "Minister Daven Orival, Divan Minister of the Interior," he introduced himself with a nod. "My focus is ensuring that these initiatives are grounded in practicality, benefiting our citizens directly. I'm eager to see how your projects can integrate with the Commonwealth's long-term vision for restoration and self-reliance."

Ivalyn returned her attention to the room, her tone shifting slightly, carrying a note of encouragement. "The Commonwealth is not merely asking for your ideas, or investments; we are meeting you halfway, matching your commitment with our own. Tonight is about forming partnerships that will not only transform our worlds but serve as a beacon of what we can achieve together."

She gestured toward the table, her expression softening yet remaining resolute. "Now, let's begin. Share your ideas, your visions. Let's take the steps necessary to create a future where sustainability is not just a goal but a reality."

With that, she took her seat, ready to listen as the room came alive with possibilities.

Hoku could swim in these currents. As much as it was a wild ride for him, Hoku was a trained scientist. And the designs he and his team came up with were second to none. Many companies worked with Next Depth to prep their new settlements, from small mining stations on moons and asteroids, to settlements on farm worlds and help with reconnecting worlds lost to time. It was what he could do. A big challenge he was seeing? The scale of their operation.

“We’ve worked with an algal fuel before. Mon Cala, Glee Anselm, all great worlds for it. I haven’t taken a look at the readings of this world, but the right sort of aquaculture farm would be easy to transfer. It can even double as a food source. Not protein rich but…”
It would do some tricks, even for the land dwellers.

“To build off of that. Next Depth has been working on current control. Both in the way of a tidal power station, but also for mitigation purposes. Storms can wreck havoc on submerged and land based settlements. Keeping a control of the currents and tides can work power and better prepare for the unexpected. I assume we have hurricanes on this world?”

As Hoku surveyed the images, he had to remember that many politicians didn’t always understand the need for resilience and changing infrastructure, but something about the Echani and MIrialans seemed like he should have a sit down with the both of them.

The Neimoidian maintained a smile as Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell commented on the oversight of significant aspects within the Commonwealth's proposal. Meanwhile, Merryn Sellek Merryn Sellek provided clarification, indicating that these initiatives were not extensive in scope and that Aurora Tech would capitalize on opportunities that the Federation might overlook.

This could be interpreted as a lighthearted challenge or perhaps a veiled threat aimed at eclipsing the Federation in the corporate arena. At that moment, Lodd was uncertain of the implications, yet it was well-known that he had powerful benefactors within the Sith Empire and would use them to his advantage if push came to shove.

"As charming as always, Mr. Dashiell and such wisedom from Miss Sellek will certainly be taken into proper consideration," Lodd responded, fully commiting to the business principle of projecting skepticism and disinterest in a venture to gain deeper insights into the risks and rewards of developing cleaner energy solutions across the systems that the Grand Vizier happen to oversee.

He waited for a moment to hear the explanation from Ivalyn Yvarro Ivalyn Yvarro that short-term profitability on sustainable energy was unlikely but emphasized the overall importance in creating resilient systems that reduce reliance on traditional fuels.

She acknowledged the long-term economic and community benefits of these projects and highlighted the significance of showcasing actionable plans supported by research.

She introduced various others such as Minister Thal'oren Vekar, Minister Jara Tathis, and Minister Daven Orival who would provide the neccessary information to see the proposed projects succeed. As they all took their seats and the floor was made open to additional comments which Project Manager Hoku Kalani Hoku Kalani took up without hesitation.

" The Trade Federation is not known for its commitment to environmental technology, but we would be willing to assist in the financial realm in securing the neccessary paperwork and documentation to pay for such a large-scale operation without crushing the Commonwealth in debt from unforseen expenses such as equipment malfunction and hiring suitable experts from outside such as Mon Calamari Engineers. " Lodd said with full confidence, resting comfortably on one of the provided chairs.

Judah made a mental note to circle back to Hoku Kalani Hoku Kalani later in the evening. Setting up settlements and reconnecting the lost with the seeking seemed interesting. Plus it was something he could use. Dashiell Incorporated and all of its subsidiaries stayed far out from the Core worlds by design. Most forgot about these fringe areas and he was able to swoop in and begin business relatively easily.

"Mister Kalani is suggesting erosion control and building designs? I would love to hear more, and I'm sure we will. I can think of a few areas where it would be of use to myself."

Sliding into a comfortable chair, Judah took note that Lodd Grimmin Lodd Grimmin offered money. This was of little surprise to himself. Granted it was the role of the Trade Federation and Banking Clan, but they were not the only option. He was also curious on how it could possibly work.

"Senator, with all due respect you're in bed with the Galactic Alliance. How will it fair that you are now looking to Sith Order and Commonwealth spaces? You are practically a fixture in this realm and it makes me curious if the Commonwealth would get an equally fair shake as say a sub-government of the Alliance."

Merryn Sellek Merryn Sellek | Ivalyn Yvarro Ivalyn Yvarro

Ivalyn leaned forward slightly, her posture poised yet relaxed, signaling genuine engagement. She listened carefully to Hoku Kalani's words, her eyes narrowing in thought as he elaborated on the potential of algal fuels and tidal power. The hum of the room seemed to fade as her focus honed in on the Mon Calamari scientist, the weight of his ideas settling into the rhythm of her thoughts.

With an air of curiosity tempered by her usual measured tone, she addressed him. "Mr. Kalani, your insights on algae fuel are compelling. This is a concept Mr. Dashiell and I had discussed previously, and I believe we already have an experimental aquaculture zone off the coast of Voriqaano on Baralou. Your expertise could be the missing link we need to elevate these efforts."

A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she continued, "Aquaculture has been a growing focus for us. The idea of integrating current control not just for energy but as a safeguard against storms and erosion—now that is fascinating. It aligns seamlessly with our goal of resilient infrastructure, particularly for regions prone to extreme weather events."

She paused, her gaze sweeping the table before turning toward her Divan Ministers. "Divan Tathis, Divan Orival, your thoughts?"

The Echani Minister of Science and Technology tilted her head thoughtfully, her silver hair catching the light as she began to speak. "Mr. Kalani, your proposal for tidal energy and current control holds immense promise. The dual application for energy production and disaster mitigation is precisely the kind of forward-thinking innovation we need. I can see this being scaled across multiple aquatic worlds in the Commonwealth. I'd be interested in reviewing the specifics of your designs to assess compatibility with our existing energy systems."

The Half-Human, Half-Mirialan Minister of the Interior folded his hands on the table, his voice steady as he added his perspective. "From an infrastructure standpoint, the implications are significant. Coastal regions in particular could benefit not only from the energy generated but from the protective measures you describe. This could reduce long-term repair costs and bolster the resilience of our settlements. The Commonwealth prioritizes sustainability, but practicality remains key. I believe we should explore how these innovations might integrate with ongoing projects such as those in the Chokoloskee Energy District."

Ivalyn nodded in agreement, her expression calm but resolute. "Thank you, Divans. Mr. Kalani, your work demonstrates exactly the type of collaboration we hope to foster. Mr. Kalani, as to your question about storms, this world has them yes but not as violently or as intense as Baralou. I do look forward to further discussions about how Next Depth can contribute to our shared vision."

Her attention shifted smoothly to the others in the room, ensuring each voice had its moment, but the interest in Kalani's work lingered, a subtle promise of follow-up. Ivalyn turned her attention to Trade Monarch Lodd Grimmin, her gaze steady but composed. "Your candor is appreciated, as is your offer to facilitate financial backing," she began, her tone measured yet reassuring. "The Trade Federation's expertise in monetary affairs is, of course, invaluable. However, I would like to assure you that our approach to these projects is both methodical and resilient. We have taken steps to account for potential unforeseen costs, including equipment malfunctions and the hiring of specialized personnel. Divan Vekar and his team have conducted rigorous risk assessments, which I believe will directly address the concerns you've raised."

She paused briefly, gesturing toward the holographic display as if to underscore her point. Then, with a graceful nod, she yielded the floor to Divan Minister Thal'oren Vekar. The Chiss Minister inclined his head slightly, his crimson gaze sharp as he began to speak. "Trade Monarch Grimmin, the Commonwealth recognizes the inherent risks associated with such large-scale initiatives. To mitigate these, we have implemented a comprehensive framework of financial safeguards. Our reserve funds, coupled with contingency planning, are structured to absorb potential disruptions without compromising project viability."

His tone was clinical yet assuring as he continued, "Additionally, we've incorporated contractual flexibility, allowing for the rapid reallocation of resources should circumstances demand it. Our partnerships with leading institutions and experts across the Commonwealth reinforce this adaptive capacity. While we value the Trade Federation's contributions, our aim is to ensure financial stability and minimize external dependency."

Ivalyn's expression softened slightly as she turned back to Grimmin, her voice regaining its warmth. "I trust Minister Vekar's explanation offers some clarity. While we welcome the Federation's expertise, our approach remains centered on self-reliance and foresight. This initiative is about more than immediate returns; it's an investment in the longevity and prosperity of the Commonwealth, one we approach with both ambition and prudence."

She sat back slightly, her demeanor poised but receptive, as Ivalyn then turned her attention to Mr. Dashiell who had a been at this point. A strong partner for the Commonwealth. Ivalyn's gaze remained steady on Mr. Dashiell as he shared his ideas. "Indeed, Mr. Dashiell, I find the concept fascinating. A collaboration on this front has immense potential, and I can assure you that the Commonwealth is more than willing to invest in such forward-thinking initiatives."

Her tone was deliberate, carrying an undercurrent of genuine interest, but her thoughts were already turning inward as the conversation shifted. She grew silent, her focus sharpening as Mr. Dashiell directed his questions toward Monarch Grimmin. The Trade Federation's reputation for prioritizing profits above political affiliations was well-known, and while she appreciated Dashiell's direct approach, she couldn't help but wonder how Grimmin might sidestep such probing inquiries.

Grimmin, she suspected, would respond with measured diplomacy, perhaps deflecting the questions entirely. Rather than allowing the room's energy to stagnate, Ivalyn chose to reframe the discussion, her fingers deftly activating the holoprojector at the center of the table.

"Ladies and gentlemen," she began, her voice reclaiming the room's attention, "if I may, I'd like to direct your focus to the Chokoloskee Energy District." The projection materialized, casting a vivid and detailed image of the marshlands and installations into the room, the light refracting gently against the polished surfaces.

"The Chokoloskee Energy District is located southwest of Vizcanyo Bay," she explained, gesturing toward the image. "It is a bold blend of energy innovation and ecological preservation. The district centers on the Chokoloskee Flats—a sprawling and intricate marshland that serves as a testing ground for the Commonwealth's cutting-edge hydropower energy project."

Her tone softened slightly as she allowed the projection to shift, displaying the hydropower installations seamlessly integrated into the marsh's natural contours. "This area is not only a marvel of engineering but also a testament to our commitment to preserving the environment. The hydropower plants harness the natural flow of water through a network of hidden channels and floating platforms, ensuring minimal disruption to the ecosystem."

She paused, letting the details sink in before continuing. "This project, overseen by Salacia Incorporated in collaboration with the University of Vizcanyo Bay, is an example of the Commonwealth's ability to combine innovation with stewardship. Wildlife monitoring stations are strategically placed throughout the Flats to ensure we maintain the natural balance of this delicate environment."

Ivalyn's gaze swept across the room, her expression a blend of resolve and anticipation. "The Chokoloskee Energy District underscores our vision: a sustainable future powered by ingenuity, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to our people and our environment."

She stepped back slightly, allowing the projection to remain illuminated as she allowed the group to take in the information before them.

The biofuel offered up by Mr. Dashiell had some intriguing possibilities to it, although Merryn would like to hear more about it before truly getting Aurora Industries involved as either a developer of the project in Commonwealth space or even as a customer for it in their own starship lines. The need wasn't too great as their current generation of engines were fueled through their miniaturized molecular furnaces and their reactors were exclusively tied to Sianteria. Still, it was something that could be considered for other products or pared back product lines.

She recognized the three ministers as their group sat down at the conference table, nodding at each holographic image politely in greeting. The Mon Calamari seemed interested in tidal power and controlling currents, something no doubt inspired by their locale, and the algae biofuel being proposed by Judah. Her eyes would narrow ever so slightly at the implications from the Senator, but she would bite her tongue even as it seemed Mr. Dashiell was fully prepared to engage the Neimoidian.

"Deflector shields, weatherproofed of course, would help with current control, Mr. Kalani," she would remark quietly to the Mon Cal as her partner and the minister spoke about the district being brought up for their viewing pleasure. "They're quite useful in protecting facilities and settlements in more unstable locations such as on Mustafar as I'm led to be believe and Aurora Industries would be happy to provide some modified for such efforts."

She thought she recognized, as her attention shifted back to the display, the marshlands that Lady Raaf and members of the Commonwealth's Dark Wardens and her own Order of Arcane Syn had purged of Blackwing infected specimens. It was good to see they were being developed in a more constructive manner now, although the project was not exactly one Aurora Industries would engage in.

"How is the hydropower transferred to the city?" she would asked, curious as it hadn't been something mentioned yet. She assumed it was done through power conduits of some sort, but that did give her an idea that could potentially dovetail into projects Aurora was working on. "I assume traditional power conduits installed in a as minimally invasive manner as possible?"

The thing Hoku needed to remember, he was a Mon Cala. A proud people who were not afraid of trials and challenges. The writer? Not so much. The Trade Federation was here, and Hoku was working as a project lead for a small start up. Stranger groups have occurred, and the smaller still was able to prosper.

Or in the case of the ancient Rebel Alliance, even become victorious. The Mon Cala just had to focus. Feel the currents and the tide in this conversation and step in where he could, and step in with the right approach, the right answers, and the right pitch. No challenge, no, none at all.

But then the Trade Federation representative… Senator too? Interesting blend there, was turning to him. And was talking credits? “We would appreciate that from our end. With the proper influx of credits, it does allow my team to get creative, and to reach new depths in our designs.” Not a one-for-one plug of his company, but it was close, wasn’t it?

As for the rest of the gathered, Hoku was besides himself for hearing several of his ideas being given light. “When one lives in floating cities, keeping them afloat, and not letting them fall to the seas is paramount in the design.” Just one of the challenges of being on the water. “Our ideas and processes may find use in other departments of a company, that is true.” The bulbous head affected what was typically a nod.

Ignoring the talk of politics, Hoku looked to Miss Yvarro. “Algae is food for us, but we recognize the many uses the plant can provide. I’d be glad to consult. The ocean is a full system, and should be considered as such. I recall physics professors having us work in a vacuum. Coastal engineering and its systems do not get that luxury once you leave the academic realm.”

As he still remained standing, Hoku pulled out a datapad. “I do have some presentations I can provide…” But he was more muttering that to himself as he was trying desperately to keep up with the questions. Last time he had this grilling? Well, it cost him three brothers to a hungry human… It was during the presentation of the tide-fueled power generation stations. “While many situations affect one group differently than another, the current control can work for energy production and mitigation, but the challenge would be the additional power. When reef sharks feed, their cleaner fish always benefit, and if there isn’t enough? The food will degrade for the ocean. But with power, it could become catastrophic if not mitigated.

“We could focus on the transfer and control of paths of power, and store off site, or at least out of the impact zone. If the city allowed for that. Or would consider that as an option.

“Some beings in the galaxy have also proposed… what was it called… eco tourism? When visiting specific sites that work with the environment. On Mon Cala we receive our tourists but we do our best to live with the environment, so its just… tourism to us?”
He held his datapad up, looking over at Yvarro again. He was prepared to show some of his plans.

Also what was Mister. His name was Hoku.

"Buried lines but yes the traditional manner. Having them underground will cost more but in the long run there will be less disruptions and not to mention keeping the environment free of hanging lines. Keeps the surrounding are pristine."

As he mentioned pristine, Hoku mentioned eco-tourism. A good idea, especially for small far-flung villages. He had been on enough fishing trips in remote places - complete with guides and lodges and the like - to know it was a viable idea. It wasn't an expensive venture either, remote fishing trips could easily be afforded by an average citizen.

"Perhaps targeting places like Coruscant, Empress Teta, Taris and other ecumenopolis type planets could be wise. Get a bored teacher or office worker out and exploring another place for their next holiday. I think Hoku is right to suggest it, I lived on Mon Cala for roughly fifteen years. There were many off worlders who were there to visit the reefs or view oceanic preserve. I'm sure there may be a few odd ones who want to see green energy but....to me that might be best suited to partnering with universities and charging them for 'educational opportunities' for their students."

Ivalyn listened intently as each person spoke, her expression poised yet engaged, her mind already weaving connections between their ideas and the larger vision she had for the Commonwealth.

She first turned to Merryn, allowing the hint of a smile to cross her lips. "Indeed, deflector shields, properly weatherproofed, could prove invaluable in maintaining stability in high-risk environments. Aurora Industries' expertise in this field would certainly be an asset, should we pursue such modifications." Her gaze drifted toward the holoprojection of the Chokoloskee Energy District, the marshlands bathed in soft light from the display. "The hydropower transfer itself follows a buried line system, as Mr. Dashiell noted, minimizing both environmental disruption and potential infrastructure vulnerability. But…" She glanced toward her partner thoughtfully, "you raise a compelling point. If we were to introduce alternative transfer methods—perhaps even some adapted from Aurora's ongoing projects—it could strengthen not only this initiative but future expansions as well."

Her attention then shifted smoothly to Hoku Kalani. The Mon Calamari's enthusiasm did not go unnoticed, and Ivalyn appreciated the depth of thought he put into the challenges at hand. "You are correct, Mr. Kalani—coastal engineering is an entirely different beast outside of academia. It is a discipline that must contend with the unpredictable, and I commend you for recognizing that. Your insights into power mitigation and storage are particularly intriguing. I believe Divan Tathis and Divan Orival would be quite interested in seeing your projections." She gestured toward the datapad he had lifted, then added, "perhaps, after this session, you and Minister Tathis can confer. The Commonwealth has every interest in ensuring that not only are these systems efficient, but that they are resilient—built for the long-term, rather than merely for immediate utility."

At the mention of eco-tourism, she gave a slow, considering nod. "It is a curious concept, one that has taken root in certain sectors of our space already, though perhaps not with the scale or intention you are suggesting. There is something to be said for presenting green energy initiatives not simply as necessities, but as educational experiences, cultural exchanges." Her gaze flickered briefly to Judah Dashiell, her interest piqued.

"Coruscant, Empress Teta, Taris—indeed, many of the galaxy's most industrialized planets could serve as ideal recruitment grounds for such ventures. There is always a subset of the population that longs to escape the urban sprawl, to experience something untouched." A pause. "Yet, you are also correct, Mr. Dashiell—while there may be the occasional enthusiast interested in green energy itself, true viability in this space likely lies with academic partnerships. If universities are willing to pay for these experiences, it makes sense to structure them as both educational and profitable endeavors."

She let the thought settle before continuing, her voice carrying its usual quiet precision. "It is evident that there are multiple avenues through which these projects can evolve. The Commonwealth is not simply seeking development, but sustainability—initiatives that continue to enrich and reinforce themselves long after their initial implementation." She exhaled softly, glancing between them. "And so, my question to you all is this: if you were to take this initiative beyond this singular district—if you were to envision a true integration of these technologies across multiple worlds—what would that look like?"

Her tone was both challenging and inviting, a test of vision rather than mere logistics. If they were to invest in these partnerships, she needed to know who among them could think beyond the immediate, beyond the singular success of one region. She needed to see who was willing to build something greater.

Ivalyn's gaze swept across the room, lingering on each of them in turn, her presence commanding yet patient. She wanted answers—not vague promises or diplomatic assurances, but true vision.

"The Commonwealth has a vast network of worlds, and systems that are currently undergoing infrastructural reforms, realigning with policies that are meant to sustain them for well beyond my lifetime," she continued, her voice steady but insistent. "So I ask you again—envision a true integration of these technologies, what does this look like?"

This wasn't just about one district or one initiative. This was about changing the way the Commonwealth's worlds functioned at their core.

Her hands rested lightly on the table, her fingers tracing an unseen pattern against the polished surface. "I have no interest in half-measures," she admitted, her voice carrying the weight of someone who had spent years ensuring that the Commonwealth did not merely survive but thrive. "I do not want projects that will last a decade, or even a century. I want worlds that are self-sufficient, that do not rely on external dependencies to function. I want power that flows from the natural elements of each planet, harnessed to serve its people for generations to come."

Her words were not simply those of a politician. They were the words of a woman who intended to build something that could not be undone.

She exhaled softly, her gaze flickering between them. "But right now," she said, leaning slightly forward, her voice dropping just enough to command full attention, "that starts here. In this room. With each of you."

There was no forcefulness in her tone—only expectation. A quiet but undeniable certainty that they were standing at the precipice of something greater.

"So tell me," she said at last, "where do we begin?"
