Using carbonite-infused cooling cables throughout a droid’s chassis, as well as terrific radiation shielding, insulation, surge prevention, heat sink dissipation, and even fire suppression, the Wampa System is designed to allow droids with this unit installed to be able to operate amid very hot environs, such as those found in the wastes of Tattooine, the lava pits of Mustafar, or the foundries of Nar Shaddaa. This enhanced ability would allow droids to work longer, with greater exposure and lessened reliance on external cooling systems to maintain functionality. In droids using numerous high power systems where overheating becomes an issue, the Wampa allows for this, enabling droids to operate at high temperatures safely and sustainably for long periods of time without fearing for internal damage.
However, this is not a combat system. A powerful thermal blast, or a sustained attack from something like a powerful flamethrower (The heavy kinds like those carried by Stormtroopers, not the small personal ones often found in Mandalorian-type vambraces, etc.) could overwhelm this system in as little as a few minutes. Offering no serious advantage to combat then, it was more designed for labor droids working in particularly challenging locations and conditions, or those who required a cooling system beyond the usual capacity to account for its many systems functioning simultaneously.
