We Do Not Sow

Midvinter... That cold place where the war hero, epic giants lived away from all the politics of the outer forces, minding their own business... Well, Ylva needed to stop daydreaming for today, as today’s Midvinter was the exact opposite of what she wanted it to be.. Ever since the last fight against the Vinterbound, the old king died and his son was crowned, Midvinter became a place of ignorance... The people suffering from the huge battle was still suffering, the places burnt to the ground was not even repaired, the Jedi, those hypocrite magic users were in control of what remained, and Midvinter became slaves to their politics. Ylva was not amused from this situation of course, and she was being awfully polite today. Midvinter was losing the strength it had in her eyes and becoming weaker and more blind. Her family were known for their skills in war, they had a reputation for being very effective in combat. Hell, she gained her sword by killing most of her siblings, and it was normal for her family. They were Valkyrie, not some tea drinking soft giant. And the situation Midvinter was in... It was disappointing to say the least. Anyway, with a sigh she stood up and started to walk around the barracks, maybe to arrange a group to go scout around, someone needed to get their asses up and do something.

Ever since the last war, the army didn’t do much. Soldiers were sitting around, bored, blinded in the false reality that everything was peaceful and quiet, even though peace and quiet often brought bad news. She wasn’t blaming them though, they were just the pawns in a bigger game. The one she was blaming was the king, who was being all lovey-dovey with his wife and rarely got out from his castle... Anyway, one of the soldiers moved towards her, with a scared expression on his face. She coldly gazed at him only for a second, then her gaze returned to forward, and she started to talk, without even looking at his face. Her strong, almost like a growling voice filled the empty air of the barracks, which made the soldier suddenly go back a step or two. His expression changed into something more frightened. Well, it should be. Ylva wasn’t known for her patience, and she bashed a lot of skulls of people who tested it enough. And today was her grumpy day. “I want every lazy idiot in here at the training grounds. They sat around enough. Be quick.” The captain nodded and flied away immediately. Not very long later, all of the soldiers were out. And Ylva appeared. Everyone had this look “What’s she gonna do now?” She could read it just well. They all got the same treatment as the last soldier. With the same cold, growling voice she started to talk, not even looking at them. Well, looking at them wouldn’t change anything, she didn’t need to see out of shape bodies and lazy faces.

“Alright, you lazy karks. Just because you won one battle, it doesn’t mean you don’t need to fight anymore. Meanwhile you sit on your asses and wait for chit to happen, the remaining enemy might be out there somewhere getting stronger.” There was complete silence in the training grounds. So she continued. “We are going scouting today. Everyone group up. You, you and you. ” She said, the ones that were chosen knew... well, they were quite unlucky. “You are coming with me. We are going north.” The chosen soldiers immediately moved towards her side, trying to look ready. They were definitely not ready. “Alright, everyone check your equipment, and let’s move out. If I don’t like your report when you return... well, you know the procedure. And if you die, well, don’t expect anyone to come get your body. May Ear have mercy on your lazy souls.” Ear, the Goddess of Hunt... And by procedure, she meant quite harsh training sessions. Soldiers wouldn’t want to go through that. It could end up very bloody after all.

Anyway, as the soldiers were ready, and she prepared her equipment, her flaming sword The Villieldr and her shield, as well, the group left the barracks to go beyond the Midvinter to find out if something was wrong... Which, she was sure they would find very soon.

To say that Midvinter was cold was like saying that a krayt dragon was not cuddly. Admittedly Elpsis Elaris or [member="Galina Kerrigan-Alcori"] might dispute that and point out how sweet a dragon could be, but that was besides the point. The planet was a big orb of ice. Enyo's breath frosted around her. A howling wind whipped across the land, blowing away snow. Snowflakes fell from the heavens. Enyo wiped from snow from her before picking up her electrobinoculars and studying the ruined village before her. The young clone was hidden behind some bushes, but she could sense one living soul. The village was surrounded by primitive walls and had a few watchtowers, but nothing fancy. Smoke rose up into the air; it seemed the place was a ghost village.

It seemed to Enyo that the world was stuck in the Middle Ages. Getting here had not been easy for the clone, who was unused to the biting cold. Small pieces of ice cut across her face, her cheeks fought to stay warm while they glowed red and her lips dried, for she was more used to the binary furnace that was Gehenna. Here and there, wild animals had waylaid her.

Truth be told, she'd wondered why in the nine hells Archangel had sent her here, but now that she looked upon the this world, she could see it. They were locked in stasis, a dark age. Personally, Enyo suspected that the Silver Jedi and their puppet king did this deliberately because it ensured that the natives would be in awe of them. This assumption was more than a little ironic considering her own servitude to Archangel, but it seemed logical to her. Archangel had the duty to lead them out of darkness into the shining light of progress!

The group continued north, walking in quick steps meanwhile looking around to see if something was wrong, as the cold became colder. Of all things that didn’t change in Midvinter, the cold was the first one to come to mind immediately. Even though the weather was better than yesterday, it would be still freezing to someone who wasn’t equipped. Lucky to be a giant, huh... What the kark? It wasn’t anything about luck. Even thinking about it made her a bit angry as she let out a little growl. Anyway, in the meantime, she saw some of the soldiers were staying behind of the group. “Don’t stay behind, the ones that stay behind will not be saved.” She shouted, the weather was getting worse and worse as the time moved on, and after a while snow has started. With the weather going worse and snow starting, it meant a blizzard was coming. And blizzards in Midvinter was rough.

Soldiers wanted to return back before it became worse. Ylva was not amused and she kept on moving. “Are you karking soldiers or tea drinking giants? We are gonna move on.” They were free to leave, but the blizzard would catch up to them and they would die anyway. Ylva was a good scout, and she wouldn’t care that much if the cowards die. They would die in battle anyway if they couldn’t survive a blizzard. They continued to push on and push on, after a while she saw that there was a smoke not so far from their location. From the snow, she couldn’t understand where exactly, but it was worth checking out. “We are heading this way.” She said, looking to the smoke and changing her direction towards it.

As they continue to move towards the smoke, some silhouettes started to appear from the distance, which resembled a wall, and then the houses. The smoke was coming from one of the silhouettes which looked like a mess hall as it was a big one. Her hand reflexively went to her sword and her movement started to get quicker. Maybe there were some enemies to kill. The taste of hunt starting to fill her soul, a smile was formed slowly on her lips. When the group arrived though, the truth was revealed. A burnt down village, the empty air of death... And a small human. She knew the place from before, as she was often scouting the area, which was indeed a disappointment as she thought it would be interesting, but the more interesting thing was the human. She saw those little peacelovers, she knew their kind. But this woman seemed different for some reason. A peacelover wouldn’t be here in the blizzard, they would often choose the warmth of their home. Which was why she didn’t like them at all. They were cowards who ran away from the feeling of war, which was the best feeling in her eyes.

It would be hell of an image for the woman though, suddenly getting surrounded by giants. Also add the fact that it was freezing and a blizzard was on, she wouldn’t survive that long in here.

The silence continued until one of the Valkyri suddenly said. “Are you the one that destroyed the village?” He said in a surprisingly calm voice. Karking idiot... She felt the rage growing up. How could he be so karking calm about it when he asked if she burnt the village?! How stupid he could be? “We need to bring you to our king.”

The king?! What the kark could the king do? Hug her to death? Ask his wife to kiss him? KARKING... With the rage of hearing the new king’s name added to the previous, she felt like to intervene, her sound was almost like roar.

“The village was destroyed in the war. Vinterbound did it. Your new king is too lazy to rebuild the place. So shut the kark up.” She said, then added. Some of the Valkyri started to whisper around, but they were too scared to tell their opinion. “We are done here. We will continue to scout. And you, little human. It’s not a place for you to stay, the blizzard is going to get heavier.” Just as she was about to move out, another soldier decided to open her stupid mouth.

“Are you a Jedi, then? We shall bring you to Midvinter immediately, the king can give you supplies.”

One could feel the anger growing in Ylva. Her hand automatically created a punch, but she held on for now. One wrong move would be their end.

There was not much left of the village once Enyo got a closer look. Snow crunched beneath her heavy boots, her breath frosted around her. She was still shivering despite the thick fur coat, but she was undeterred. She could have used the Force to keep herself warm, but she did not try. If she was strong, she would endure without it. Pain, suffering and struggle separated the wheat from the chaff. Only then could you achieve greatness.

A strong, howling wind blew across the land. Smoke was rising from one of the buildings, perhaps a mess hall. She bent down when she came across a dead body half-buried in the snow. The corpse resembled a Valkyri. Judging by the state of decomposition, the native must have died a long time ago. Other corpses lay strewn across the ground. The scent of death was strong in the air. It was obviously not a Dark Side Nexus or a Force Wound. Contrary to what the unitiated might believe, achieving such a thing took a lot of effort. Certainly more than a simple skirmish.

However, the Dark Side permeated the air. She was pulled from her thoughts when she heard movement. The approach of the giant Valkyri was not subtle or quiet, so she was alerted. However, she did not retreat or seek cover in the ruins. Her gloved hand went to her lightsabre, which was attached to her belt. Soon she found herself surrounded. Presumably she had some sort of translation device, since the natives probably spoke the Valkyri language.

"No," she answered in a cold tone. "It was already destroyed when I cam here. It's been like that for a while." Her eyes darted towards a tall, female who seemed rather angry and aggressive. Evidently she didn't get on with the other Space Vikings. "And I am no Jedi. What is your name? Are you here on a hunt?"

"Ylva, restrain yourself, you know not of what you speak. The King is a noble, wise man. He's brought peace to Midvinter," one of the Valkyri soldiers chastisted the berserker. The big, bearded giant turned his attention to Enyo, looking more than a little suspicious. The clone wore the face of Siobhan Kerrigan, but it was very unlikely that any of the natives had heard of her or ever seen her. "What is your name, outsider? You wield a weapon like our Lord's, yet you are no Jedi?"

Ylva was a person of duty. She didn’t want to have a chit-chat with a human when there was a huge blizzard coming and they had places to scout still. Who karking cared if she was a whiny hypocrite or a delusional evil. They already poisoned Midvinter with their gods, magic and politics anyway. And the new “king” didn’t help the situation at all. Midvinter had its own battles to fight, even though both the soldiers around her and the authorities believed there was a time of peace. There was never peace, only hunt. And only prey. This woman was not the prey, at least not yet. By the looks of her, if she wanted to attack she would’ve anyway. One more thing that Ylva didn’t like that much was to be patronized. Especially by that fat soldier wannabe. Rage building inside, she made a punch, still holding it back though. “If you want to stay here and have a tea party with an outsider, fine. You can stay. Someone needs to think about Midvinter meanwhile you sit on your asses talking about a non-existing peace.” She shot a look at the woman. Needless to say, Ylva was a rude one, also she didn't like the outsiders that much. If the woman would sense emotions, she would sense a strong anger flowing through Ylva’s whole body.

“Ylva, you are being overly dramatic. Our mighty leader finished the threat of the Vinterbound. There is nothing to be afraid of now. We are in an era of peace and love....” Before saying something else, Ylva cut the dialogue. “Look at here. Does it karking look like peace and love to you? Or are you lost in the whiny hypocrite mentality just like your leader? ” She said, moving towards him. “Your mighty leader died in battle. His son is no one but a useless king who doesn’t care about anything but his wife. We are here to do his job, like it or not.” She stopped when they came eye to eye. Intimidating looks intensified. The silence was broken by the bearded man once again “Ylva. Stop acting like a feral beast and be a real Valkyri once. You are ashaming the name of our king.” This was too far.

Too, too far.

Taste of blood, need to strike... It all activated the wolf inside her. Who the kark was he to tell her she wasn’t a real Valkyri. She could feel her vision getting blurry. The rage was getting control of her body.

She felt like punching something... to death.

“Sorry for her behaviour, outsider.”

The taste of blood filled all her mouth...

The giant of a woman was like a whirlwind of emotion. Her rage was pure, unadulterated and visceral. Her aura was close to that of a feral creature. In other words, the sort of organic Archangel had warned her about. Emotions were...messy and this one seemed almost animalistic.

However, strangely enough, she also seemed the more sensible one here. The rantings of the other Valkyri filled Enyo with contempt. They were weak, indolent and deluded. Processing would be a mercy for them, saving them from their wretched state.

Then Ylva exploded. Her fist connected with the bearded man's face with such force that it made him bleed, splashing blood all over her face. Blood stained her lips. He was not dead, but a little out of commission. "Ylva, stand down! Brothers, disarm her!" one of the Valkyri yelled, drawing his sword.

Sometimes, violence was liberating. The girl might be a beast, but these men were blind and foolish. Enyo's lightsabre ignited with a snap-hiss, producing a ruby beam of energy. The giant realised the danger too late. Ere he could react, she'd thrust the tip of her blade through his back. His coat and armour was more than sufficient to keep out the elements and protect him from the claws and swords of the Vinterbound, but it could not resist a laser sword. The crimson blade protruded out of his chest, leaving a hole inside it. He crumpled to the ground like a sack of potatoes, and Enyo felt...a bit satisfied.

However, she was unprepared for another giant's attack. Such was his strength that a punch sent her flying. She managed to cushion her fall somewhat, but white-hot pain flooded her nerves. Feth, her back bloody hurt. She spat blood, and, through her daze, could see the big man charging her with a theatralic war cry. "For the King and Odiin!"

Pulling at the tangled web of power that was the Force, she tossed snow into his eyes. The blow he tried to launch with his axe was clumsy and she ducked. Exploiting her smaller size, she slashed across his leg, then when he seemed to lose his balance raked her lightsabre across his belly, spiling sizzling innards into the snow.

At this point, Ylva stopped listening. All the voices outside were silenced, and she was completely focused on her prey, the bearded giant which was stupid enough to tell her she wasn’t a real Valkyri. As she was about to proceed to the man who was trying to understand what happened just now, she felt a presence, trying to hold her arm telling her something that didn’t catch her attention, she turned back just to see the human fighting off some of the Valkyri, killing them. Seeing such a strength in front of her hungered the predator more and more, burning the fire in herself brighter and brighter to the point her human self completely stopped existing. If looks could kill, the look that she gave to the Valkyri who was trying to hold her would erase him from existence. No one could get in the way of a predator trying to kill her prey.

Since holding her arm made the man defenseless, she swung her free arm towards his face, which he had to leave her arm alone to defend himself. She was free now and the man was pushed slightly away from her, so she reached to her sword. When she removed it from its sheath, the sword suddenly started to burn, the flame escaping the sword was too intense that if you didn’t look carefully you would assume that she was holding pure fire in her hands. The legendary sword, Villieldr, that her grand grandparents made, and to this day it was still a mystery how it happened. Being not that familiar with magic, this sword was an extreme for her, thus she was honored to carry it as its owner. Anyway, seeing the woman coming towards him in a rage, the giant made a move towards his sword and just in time managed to put his sword between her sword and himself, prolonging his death. So a duel has started. No need to talk, no need to think. Just kill, kill, kill...

For all her life trained to become a death machine, it was easy for her to get the upperhand. At one point, the man’s sword swung towards her face, opening a wound, bleeding but wasn’t enough to stop the beast. The interesting point was, she didn’t feel any pain. It all added back to her rage when she held the man’s hand still up from swinging too high, then stabbed him through the stomach in a moment’s notice. Her burning sword probably burnt him inside first before even he could die, and as a last punishment her sword didn’t leave his body yet before opening him up and revealing his inside, some of his insides dropping to the ground, then the lifeless body of the Valkyri followed.

It was only two left. Two predator, two prey. She gave a monstrous look at the woman first, but didn’t attack. Instead, she regained herself and moved towards the giant who awakened the beast, the original prey. It seemed that she left the other one to the woman, meaning that she saw her strength and was impressed by it since she wouldn’t normally share her fun of hunt.

Sheer killing instinct took over. There was no self-doubt, no nagging voice, no thinking about her vile sister. Indeed, dear sis was the furthest thing from her mind right now. Here, she was the predator. The men she fought were huge in stature and strong of body, but weak and deluded. Their minds were hollow, filled with delusions and superstitions. She was doing them a favour by ending their lives. She knew this with absolute certainty.

Her lightsabre glowed with a burning violet light. It was the emblematic weapon of Jedi and Sith, but she was neither. One day, she would transcend them. One Valkyri giant had been left to her. She delivered a mocking salute with her sabre. She could smell that the Valkyri reeked of fear when he beheld the weapon. To a people as primitive as his, such a device must appear like magic. Undoubtedly this was how the Jedi were able to maintain control. However, fear was swiftly banished by courage and rage, and thus battle was joined. From that point onward, everything was so...easy. It was like she understand, as if a threshold had been crossed.

He swung his sword with a Valkyri war cry, she darted aside, but his steel blade created a wound when it sliced across her ear. Blood was drawn and dripped onto the snow-covered ground. However, the pain only seemed to spur her on. When his sword swept downward to deliver a strong thrust towards Enyo's legs, intending to force the outsider into a leap so that he could cleave through her spine, she met the strike and parried, as the Force surged through.

Her blade spun in an iridescent arc of purple to slice off his hand. Horrible, white hot pain flooded him when the laser sword left behind a cauterised stump. Succumbing to his blood rage, the Valkyri charged at Enyo with reckless abandon, ramming her as if he were an ox. Pain slammed into her like a rampaging Reek. Ouch. The wind had been knocked out of her chest, but her fury washed over her like a flood.

Her fist acquired the hardness of durasteel and she rammed it into his solar plexus. Something very critical shattered inside him. Even a giant was vulnerable there and he tumbled with a pained howl. Not bothering to use her blade, she pounced upon the fallen, maimed giant and forced him to stay down, wrapping her fingers around his throat. The burly giant growled, struggled and tried to throw her off with all his strength, but she would not be dislodged. Forcibly trapping his arms, she strangled him with a grip as tight as a battle droid's. Telekinetic power was channelled through her very real, physical fingers as she cut off the flow of oxygen to his lungs. Eventually, he stopped struggling.

Ylva was consumed by anger at this point, as she didn’t even see or hear her predator friend killing the Viking, choking him to death to be exact. She was completely focused on her prey, who was at this point in full knowledge that he wasn’t going to survive this. Half shaky from the first punch that Ylva hit him with, he let out a warcry running towards her. Two giants running towards each other made the ground shake a little and then their swords clashed, little flames from her sword dropped to the ground. She swung her sword quicker and quicker aiming for his lungs each second he continued to stay defensive. He had good hits here and there, but instead of causing her pain, they just made her angrier. As the anger consumed her, her ability to think and defend herself was almost non-existant. Each hit opened a wound, luckily she was dressed in her armor so they weren’t that much of a problem.

The duel continued and continued. If she wasn’t in her berserk mode right now, she would be proud of this man. At least the time she wasted on training them worked even though they clearly told her they didn’t want her around. But the man was forgetting something. Each second he wasted not killing his enemy, was a second he was getting more and more tired and trapped. And his time was running out. At one point when their swords clashed once again, with the high speed and in complete anger that she hit the man’s sword, the sword didn’t take much more pressure and broke, being weakened by the heat radiating from Ylva’s sword. Now, the prey lost its teeth. Ylva taking this as an advantage ran towards him like a battering ram, pinning him to one of the wrecked houses, then she striked one more time with her arm aiming his neck quickly before he had time to react. Suddenly cut from his oxygen, the man coughed and fell to the ground...

As the death approaching him, he spoke. “Ylva, you have lost our ways. May the Gods have mercy on your soul...” Wrong words. As once again the beast inside her tore apart her prey, with each punch taking away the physical form of the giant and turning him into a giant puddle of blood... The scent of hunt was now disappearing as her prey was dead, Ylva’s humanity was slowly taking back the control. Throwing one or two more punches towards his face, she sighed. “May Ear accept the sacrifice of these lost souls and give me strength to defeat my enemies.” She mumbled out of breath looking at the mess. It was a kill or be killed world, she had no emotion towards the death of those weaklings. As she fully came back to her senses, she realized the blizzard was getting out of control. It became unbeliavably cold and nowhere could be seen from the thick snow descending to the ground.

“We should find a cave.” She said casually looking at the woman, still in full knowledge that this woman helped her fight the whole group of giants. Normally it would annoy her, but she was impressed with her strength. That’s why her bitchy attitude towards her before left its place to a more respectful one, in which she recognized her as a considerable voice.

Mercy was for the weak.

It took a while, but the Valkyri finally stopped struggling. His futile attempts to suck in air and provide oxygen for his lungs failed, his eyes closed and everything turned black for him. Enyo finally released his throat and breathed in deeply. She was bruised, bleeding and her entire body ached. The coppery scent of blood and violence was thick in the air. The overwhelmning smell invaded her nostrils. She wiped some blood from her chin. Snowflakes melted on her hair, dripping slowly onto the collar of her fur coat. Wincing a bit from the pain, she got to her foot and stood upright.

No emotion crossed her face as she surveyed the scene of battle, taking in the dead bodies and the blood that stained the snow. These men had been weak and deluded, and thus they had died. Strictly speaking it was not their fault, they just paid the price for their ignorance and their leaders' folly, but either way their deaths did not weigh upon her conscience. She was finding it more and more easier to kill.

She watched with dispassionate interest while the berserker commended the dead to her goddess, as if they were sacrificial victims. She recalled such rites being common in more primitive cultures. If this was an aspect of Valkyri culture instead of just a fringe practice, it was probably one their current overlords tried to stamp out. However, such intellectual musings would have to wait, for the blizzard was going wild.

A powerful wind blazed across the land, thick snow descended down to the ground and it had become so cold that even her Force techniques could not help her anymore. "Agreed. You lead the way," Enyo responded. The change in the Valkyri's tone did not go unnoticed. The woman seemed wild and savage to her, but she'd proved her skill in a fight and was free of Jedi-imposed delusions. Besides, she knew the area a lot better. "You fight well."

Snow, lots of snow. Descending from the sky like the white death, it was almost impossible to see each other at this point. Ylva looked behind to see if the human was still following her. Normally, she wouldn’t care, and leave the human to probably die since she wouldn’t know about the area, her magic wouldn’t help her here. But this woman... this woman was a predator like herself. She felt something in her that intrigued her. Power. One weakness of the giant was she was attracted to it, thus she wanted to know more about her. Still, her being a magic user caused some suspicion. But she didn’t seem like a space hippie, they were too soft and she despised their kind. It was no surprise she hated the new king because he was the puppet of those. Anyway, they would soon have more chance to talk, for now, they needed to survive the blizzard. “I know a cave not so far from here. We can stay there until the Old Gods decide it’s enough.”

They would move in the thick snow, even sometimes Ylva had difficulties with being a local here. “You are strong for a human.” It was a compliment in Ylva standards, and she wasn’t that good at speaking, being the beast she was. “Those weak karkers... And they blame me.” She growled. “Hopefully their souls will be of use to Ear.” She didn’t have any kind of remorse for those who died today. In her head Ear, the Goddess of Hunt, would hunt those weak souls for sport. And will grant strength to those who entertained her by sending those spirits to her. Religion was one hell of a drug. Anyway, after a while of walking, they would finally find a quite big cave, which she remembered that would be here because she killed the owner of this cave not so long ago. It was a huge bear, almost as huge as a Valkyrie. That was a hunt she never forgot. “This’ll work.” She said, then pointed towards the entrance for the human to enter. Ylva had something else to do first.

Finding a conveniently placed giant rock just near the cave, with a deep breath she picked it up and carried it to the entrance, then entered the cave before dropping it, cutting the strong wind that could enter the cave which could interfere with their fire. Speaking of fire, Ylva was already looking around for stones or wood that could burn and make them a fire. Wet clothes were never good. After a moment or two of searching, she returned to the center area with several wood pieces and some rocks. Thank Goddess she was a good scout. So, she put some of the wood as a base first and started to rub the rocks together on. To their chance, they weren’t wet so they wouldn’t take much time to burn. Probably in the next post of Enyo as a cinematic effect. “Ylva.” The giant said as she continued to rub the stones together. Small sparks started to appear.

The white death descended upon them from the heavens. The wind blew epic columns of snow across the land, makin it almost impossible to see anything. But though it deprived her of visibility, Enyo could still sense the giant, feral Valkyri through the Force. The combination of survival skills and raw, animalistic bloodlust was unmistakeable.

"I was trained on a hellish world of fire and brimstone. It does not suffer the weak. The elements are not kind," Enyo remarked. "It is very different and yet similar to Midvinter. But withut Jedi and pacifists." Her voice turned scornful when she spoke of these two categories. She'd been taught to despise the Jedi from the moment she was born.

Snow crunched beneath her boots. The deaths of the Valkyri did not trouble her. She did not hate them, but she felt no guilt. At most, she pitied them. They'd been misled by the lies of the Jedi and had become weak as a result. They finally reached the imposing cave, which was surprisingly large.

Using her impressive strength, Ylva sealed the entrance with a big piece of rock. Seeing what she was doing, Enyo joined the giant and helped her light the improvised fireplace, composed of wood pieces and rocks. Small sparks fly, then the fire was lit, casting the cave in a bright light. Enyo stood close, feeling it warm her.

"Lucky you." She simply said to her little background. Not surprised that she was trained in a harsh world since her previous actions proved that, yet still suspicious about her since Ylva didn’t like magic users, she looked at the woman with curious eyes as both worked on the fireplace, Ylva fueling the fire with more wood to prevent it from getting weaker at the same time. They were wet from all the blizzard already, so if they didn't want to freeze to death, fire was essential. Soon the fireplace was lit fully and its light made the huge cave look brighter and livelier. Supposing there lived a giant bear before, one would think the cave was pretty clean. Ylva's face dropped when she heard the word Jedi, and she let out a grunt. "Karkers." She said, then added as she brought her hands closer to the fire, feeling the warmth slowly touch her body and a tingling feeling followed. "It's all their fault Midvinter has become what it is now. Brainwashed my people to neutralize them, make them think everything is okay. Turn them into tea drinking moron giants. And it karking works."

“Everything is NOT okay. But their mind is filled so much with hippie talk that they can’t see that.” Destroyed villages and villagers that are affected by the previous war with Vinterbound were obvious evidence that everything was not okay. “The new king is too busy telling love words to his wife meanwhile the commonfolk suffer. If you ask him though everything is sunshine and rainbows.” Needless to say, Ylva had many to say about the new king. And she didn’t need words to soften her feelings about them. “He even disgraced his own dead father by announcing him a God. He was a man. A good one. But not a God. Gods don’t die.” There was only one Goddess, and her name was Ear. Others didn't know the feeling of hunt, so they were worthless in her eyes. Ylva was not a kind soul, not at all. Her words for their king was sincere, and her tone was like a lioness about to attack. She made a punch, squeezing the rocks in her hand to death, some of them even turned into dust with the anger that she had. Breathe, breathe... The sound of the raging blizzard could be heard from outside, almost drowning the voice of the fire. Ylva could stop herself from going berserk mode this time, sound of snow always relaxed her a little.

“It's not a surprise though. Magic users are in a totally different place that they lose connection with reality." A no offense would be better suited here, but Ylva didn’t bother. Still, she didn’t know her that well yet. It was soon going to change since they had plenty of time until the blizzard cleared out. “You are obviously not a space hippie, so which kind of magic user are you? And what were you doing here?” And maybe turn into an interrogation... In her tone it was clear she didn’t like magic users, at all. She saw them as weak people who relied on an outside force to be strong.

Enyo watched while the feral warrior women launched into a tirade, denouncing the Jedi king and the Valkyri who'd bent a knee to him before smashing some rocks. Her own opinion of the Silver Jedi was tremendously low and would only get more hostile as time passed.

"Then they're weak. They should tear him from his throne and put his head on a pike for all to see," she commented. This was totally a normal conversation. Outside, a blizzard raged, sounding like the roar of a wrathful goddess. A superstitious soul might've belied this was the wail of Ear, lamenting the sorry state of her kingdom.

"His brother is an incompetent fool who thoroughly mismanages his own realm. Sooner or later, the storm will sweep them aside, expose them for the frauds they are and wreck their fairy tale." Her steely brown eyes met Ylva's when the woman denounced all 'magic-users'. Not once did Enyo's gaze waver.

"It's not magic, though I can see why it would seem like that to the uninitiated and Force blind. No doubt your king encourages that," she spoke in a somewhat patronising tone. "And I'm no Jedi. I oppose these pathetic, sanctimonious finger ponderers."

It was good to meet someone who shared the hatred for the space hippies just like her. After all, Ylva thought they were responsible for the downfall of Midvinter. Needless to say, the place was much better before they stuck their nose into it, with all their false religious chit and their insult of Gods who don't exist at all. Well and also, it wasn't full of tea drinking giants back then and they actually fought things. Hatred aside, she noticed the human avoided her question about why she was here, but didn't say anything back, just looked at her with examining eyes. "I would gladly tear both of their heads apart and sacrifice their useless souls to Ear if I had the chance." She said, in a growling tone. Totally everyday conversations! "The false king and his false peace can go to hell for all I care. No one can escape the wrath of Ear, and it's cold and vicious for the ones who deserve. They will all meet her bow and arrow after death." She said, she wasn't quite the religious one, but respected Ear for being a Huntress and being strong. Also, yeah, she was kind of talking about the blizzard outside as well because the blizzard affected the prey too, which was Ear's way of saying she was disappointed.

"But, you saw them out there. They adore their king and believe everything he tells them. I may be an angry animal full of rage, but I am not stupid. I can only take so many of them before reaching the king. That stupid karks won't believe I am doing good for them." She sexually identified herself as a bear, no that was a joke. Anyway, still, she had the courage and belief in herself to think she would take many before falling down. Well, that was of course, if the king actually thought and made a good decision, which Ylva didn't think so. Worst case scenario would be exile, and well, the reasons to stay here were decreasing each day already. It was then the cold gaze of the human fell upon her, after her comment about the magic users. One would definitely be scared of how cold it looked, but Ylva returned the gaze with same intensity, she wasn't going to get scared from that. Needless to say, her words angered Ylva, especially the comment about the king.

"The king doesn't determine how or what I think." She said, with the same cold tone. One could feel her anger growing. "Magic, Force, what is the difference?" Then she added, her hand went to her sword, just to show how a real weapon looked like. "Take their toy away and give them a real weapon. They won't stand a chance." She specifically said they, excluding Enyo, but still involving the "magic-users", which she was one of them. Still, her expression was surprisingly not in raging animal form yet.

Enyo met the Valkyri's glower with her steely blue eyes. "Magic is a word for the supernatural, for something you cannot explain. The Jedi like your people to think of their powers that way because it makes them appear grand and above them. No doubt that is why your false king declared his father a god. The truth is, the Force is just energy certain gifted can tap into. The pathetic Jedi squander it and use it like a crutch. They spread their absurd religion like a virus."

Enyo truly believed this. This was before Korriban and her rebirth, so her hatred of the Jedi was not as strong as it would become, but nonetheless she held them in contempt. Of course, she was sure she was superior to the Force blind.

There a gleam in Enyo's eyes, it looked feral. The light from the fire's lambent flames danced across her face. "Fools. The Force is a means to strength, glory and victory. Only the weak become helpless like kittens without it because they did not learn to use a sword or a gun." The Valkyri were primitive and deluded, so they'd fallen under the Jedi's sway. One day, Archangel would enlighten them. Somehow this intersected with genocide and droid supremacism. "You've never left Midvinter, have you?"

The gaze between two predators continued with the same intensity. Both had quite the determined stance not to back off from their statements. It was until she heard Enyo's words, which changed Ylva's expression to first thoughtful, then angry. "That's..." She couldn't find anything else to say. Instead, she let out a growl like an angry boar. "So you are saying every magic...Force user is not like those hippies? And they actually know how to fight?" She asked, yet already knowing the answer since the human she was speaking to wasn't a Jedi obviously. Her tone might've sounded a bit sarcastic, almost mocking. Nevertheless, to be honest, the human was speaking the truth. Having no knowledge of the outside world away from Midvinter, the only magic... Force users the giants encountered were the Jedi. Thinking about it, the only enemy that the giants faced were the Vinterbound thus far, and Jedi helped them once. Ylva was in that fight as well, yet as a background soldier. She remembered how they fought in the frontlines, but the Jedi came and took all the credit. No wonder why her people thought them as mightier beings. Even thinking about it made her want to go berserk and kill things. She wanted to destroy every single one of those hippies, tear them away from their beloved Force with her bare hands.

As their little dialogue continued, Ylva realized how much their ideals were similar to each other. This made her actually respect the woman, which was surprising because Ylva always thought humans were not that tough, again, having only a little knowledge of the outside world. Where Enyo thought herself as superior because of being granted with Force, Ylva thought herself as superior because she was a Valkyrie. Seriously though, she was literally a giant stone wall killing machine. No human could endure the pain she has suffered through in her years. Think about training in a family full of Ylva's. Even to get the sword she wielded today, she had to kill or cripple her siblings in an arena full of deathtraps. In fact, she had a huge sword wound on her chest right now, and it didn't even hurt. But anyway, enough ego stroking, she returned to the scene and listened to the woman's words. What was a kitten? Anyway, that wasn't what the speech was about right now. "They are all weak. Wouldn't even satisfy Ear as sacrifices. And to think a Valkyrie is leading them..." Disappointing. If he was a little bit like his brother, well she wouldn't be that surprised. Then the human asked her a question.

"No, I have always been here since the day I was born. Why are you asking?" She said, looking at her with a curious expression. One would understand why she asked such a thing looking at their previous conversations, but Ylva was too angry to think clearly.

By mutual agreement, the timeline has undergone a slight retcon. Hence now the thread takes place after the Korriban Rebellion. Thus, Enyo is an angry, disillusioned cyborg now! Presumably her broodiness has intensified as well. Boy, there's a lot of brooding. Anyhow, on with the plot.

"I have the Force, and I can fight. I do not need it to break a human's neck like a twig," Enyo retorted. Her tone was not angry, it was just...empty and hollow. The way she uttered the word 'human' might make one think she did not count herself as one of them.

Her breathing was a prolonged, mechanical rasp. "I figured that you'd never left Midvinter. I imagine the Jedi aren't keen on people stepping out of the fairy tale. If this world is so...lacking and populated by weaklings, you could go. You'd find better game out there in the stars. Probably even Force-users who'd satisfy your 'goddess'."

A short, hollow laugh escaped her throat. It was a most unpleasant sound. There was no mirth to be found in it. But she'd actually laughed. When had she last done that? The past Enyo would've been deeply repulsed by the feral woman. The present one still thought of herself as superior...but though her mannerisms were primitive, Ylva had been honest with her. All those high ideals the clone had been raised to believe in had turned out to be meaningless. "It is a bleak and cold galaxy of blood and death." Nothing is as it should be, she thought to herself.

Suddenly, the time flew and flew, even too fast for the characters to realize, it was as if the universes collapsed with each other and a new alternate universe was created from the collusion. Enough physics class, basically a timeskip was made. Ylva was still Ylva because she had no character development yet. So, she listened to the woman as she spoke, suddenly realizing the emptiness in her voice, probably she didn't realize before because the freezing cold clouded her judgement. She sounded almost like she was empty inside. Ylva, however, didn't press on the matter since she didn't know humans, even though Enyo's tone almost suggested she was not one, that much to judge them, and frowned instead to her words. "That is the satisfying part." She said simply, with a little animalistic smile just thinking about it. "Taking your prey's life in your hands, hearing them squeal under your power. No chains, no morals. Just a play between you and your prey. Then just like that, with only a little move, they stop breathing. Your hunt is successful. Their useless flesh will stay in this world, and if they are lucky, their souls will satisfy Ear. You will never have a more freeing moment than that." Yep, Ylva wasn't the kindest soul. Also one could see the smile growing as she explained more and more.

And when Enyo started talking about leaving Midvinter, Ylva sighed. A thought that bugged her mind for a while, especially after the final fight with the Vinterbound. Needless to say, there hasn't been anything interesting going on since then, if you don't count soldiers sitting around and king and queen probably telling each other love words everyday. "I thought about it, but I don't know anything about outside world. Don't even know how to escape here. If I did, I would be long gone. Like you said before, they don't teach us those things around here." Then she added, with her own laugh, which would compete with hers because it sounded like a boar dying painfully. Well, what was there to laugh anyway? She didn't laugh that much to fix that 'problem'. "I am sure I would find better people to sacrifice to Ear. Much better than the giants here." Which was obviously disappointing because she held Valkyrie as the master race in her heart, so a growl followed. "They would at least entertain her a while longer, if everyone out there fights like you. And they would be a lot entertaining to kill." Was that a threat? No, it was her nature. She was honest, or too primitive to play games, your choice, and it would certainly be a good hunt since Enyo had the power to kill giants.

A little bit sadness, and the empty sounds of the blizzard outside filled the cave. The warmth of the fire was almost non-existant, or probably her body adapted with the heat, but the light was still going strong. If one thought philosophically, there would be a message there. When the human talked again, she sighed. Even an emotionless berserker could understand there was something wrong going on. "Sounds exactly like my type of 'galaxy'. Too bad I am stuck here." She said, galaxy was a too fancy of a word for her, then added. "Would prefer a little more bloodshed?" She asked, it was her way of saying "Is everything alright?" Surprisingly for the giant, she actually cared for once.

The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you, to see his cities reduced to ashes, to see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters. Given Ylva's mentality and goals in life, the quote seemed appropriate!

After all that had happened to her, Enyo was fairly desensitised as far as violence was concerned. Her entire, albeit very short, life had been about becoming a weapon. She gained the approval of her masters through the tears of her victims. Human morality was nothing but a leash - and a very hypocritical one.

"From the moment I breathed air, my life has been about the fight. The hunt for prey. The constant chase. All for the purpose of becoming stronger." So that one day she could end her and pull the Dark Queen from her throne. "It's what I was made for." Slip of the tongue? Perhaps.

Another intake of breath. It echoed inside her ears. She sounded like someone suffering from a bad case of asthma. "I wouldn't mind more bloodshed." The roar of the blizzard could be heard from outside. The warmth of the fire had diminished, though the flames still cast her skin in a bright light.

There was a pause before words left her lips once more. "I have a ship that can traverse the vastness of the void and travel across the stars." That was a somewhat poetic way of saying 'I have a starship'. An offer to help Ylva get off the planet? Perhaps. She knew what Archangel would want her to do: Process the savage woman. Enyo found that she did not particularly care about what her mechanical overlords expected her to do.
