As of approximately five minutes ago, we have the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years - American Pharaoh has won the Belmont and broken the dry spell.

That's one impressive and beautiful horse. Been rooting for him all throughout the races. Glad to see him come out on top. Further more, his jockey this was his third shot at winning a triple crown and the third time, quite literally for him was the charm. Oldest jockey to ever win it too, at 43 I believe is the age I heard. And for his trainer, fourth shot at it, and finally come away with a win. Very happy for them all.

As a native born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky (before I moved up North) the impact of this news is probably a little silly on the level it is to someone not steeped in a culture so heavily impacted by the Kentucky Derby. I knew I should have bet this year...
