Weakness thy name is Mortality

Maybe it's just me. Maybe you guys are of the same opinion. Maybe this shouldn't bother me as much as it does. It just frustrats the chit out of me.

Being mortal is NOT a fething weakness!

Come on people, try a little harder please. Give yourself an addiction, a vice, an anger problem. Something other than a cop out. All your asked for is two weaknesses being killable isn't a weakness, it's a fact of life.

Ok I had my rant. I'll return to the shadows now.

Oh come on. That's not even a tear worthy one. I've seen some weaknesses that will really make you cry. Such as,
  • Weakness:
Falls in love mostly <--- what is "mostly"
  • Immune to the Force (gets headaches though) <--- Ooo, headaches. yeah. bummer dude. Lucky you're immune to everything else though.
  • Sunburns easily <--- Because Space_SPF 9000 didn't make it through the Factory, maybe?
  • Allergic to blasters <--- How? Why? Like, you sneeze when guns are near or something?
  • Stubborn (grew out of it) <--- Still listed as 1 of their 2 weaknesses. Le sigh.
  • Is an unbeatable Swordsman (overconfident) <--- Because being unbeatable is bad?
  • Is too pretty <--- First world problem maybe?
  • Weak vs Chocolate <--- This is literally on my own Main Character because I loved it so much.

Let's count all of the male characters who are "weak to women" but only in a romantic sense which will never afford any practical effects in real RP.

Or better yet, let's not. I don't need to add any more names to my punch list.

Seriously, not a Bartender
Meh... I don't always write everything down in the bio like I'm supposed to. Applying weaknesses usually happens for me while I'm writing the character. But, yeah, unless you're a Gen'dai or some similarly regenerative creature... there's no way you don't have a million character weaknesses sitting in the wings somewhere.

That's my boy [member=Léon]. Shut down his translation device and you're stuck with a backwater guy that doesn't know a power cell from his elbow lol

[member="Javar Ikon"], That's exactly my point though. A character can have a million flaws and you're only asked to provide two. One of those is that you can die? You're not even trying at that point, you litterally put something down so you could skip to the next part of your bio.

[member="Zenva Vrotoa"] - You're just not ranting hard enough Zen. I barely believe this is annoying for you right now. Ugh. Look... If you really want to show us your ranting? You need two important things.
  • 1. Boredom. Sheer unadulterated boredom. Get bored Zen. Stare at your keyboard and imagine the rant, flowing through you. Stare so hard that the letters on your keyboard become faces. Faces of your high school enemies taunting you at becoming nothing more than a mere Waterboy. Only then, in complete and petrifying boredom, can you really taste the blood of your enemies in your mouth.
  • 2. Waste my time. You have to hate your audience to really rant. You have to disrespect them sooo much that you are willing to consume the rarest resource that any sentient species has available to them on this planet. Their time. You have to really, really, really... Want to waste our time. Only then, with a complete hatred for your listeners, can you finally discover the bludgeoning power of the rant.

I don't understand why there's an obsession with strengths/weaknesses. It's not like any of us have a list to describe us. People are and are not. They act in situations according to their nature. It's not like if I have +1 Strength, I have to have a balancing negative. Life doesn't work that way.

Roll with it, write an interesting character, make the character "realistic" in the context of the setting, and you're good.

/end rant

And just for [member="Jay Scott Clark"] , I'm totes bored. I also hate you. I disrespect you. Can you feel the disrespect and boredumb?

Is that enough to qualify this post as a rant?

You forgot epic levels of arrogance and self righteousness. It's not enough to merely think you're right, you have to want to make sure the whole world knows in excruciating detail.

Mute. No tongue. Or left eye. Or portion of left hand.

Horrible debilitating social stigmas/almost certain environment born mental illness and near inability to function in polite societies.

Struggle builds character.
