Web Bot

Alright well I was watching Brad Meltzer's Decoded history a few minutes ago, for those who like things like conspiracies that can actually be believeable I suggest you watch it, anyway I digress. It was a episode where they were talking about the end of the world and the multiple theories and predictions that have sprung up in history, the Hopi Prophecy, the Mayan Prophecy, which has been proven untrue, the Predictions of Nostradamus, the Book of Revelation in the Bible, the Islamic Yawm al-Qiyamah and many other things.

But there was a more modern predictor that caught my attention, Web Bot, this was a Internet Bot that was originally built in 1997 to predict stock market changes, which at the time there were probably dozens of Internet Bots just like it. Though this Bot varied, the Bot went from predicting stocks, to predicting events, OF IT'S OWN ACCORD! When you first started reading this you might have thought this was about future predictions, while it is partly about that my thing about Web Bot was that, and again I stress this next sentence, CHANGED ITS PROGRAMMING OF ITS OWN ACCORD! Now auto-updating software on things like the laptop I'm using or PC's at like a computer lab at a university is not unheard of and is even common now adays but the fact that a massive computer program like that that uses massive and complicated algorithms and tons upon tons of processing power to predict things, which it does by sending millions, and when I say millions I mean like 200 to 300 million searches out A DAY looking for words that are used least, much like the least common denominators. Now I'm not gonna go off on a computer rant, because honestly I don't know much about computers but I do know that something that large updating itself like that is something that on the level of computing power updating itself is like AI level.

Well now that I'm done with my mini-rant I'll open the floor to some differing opinions or agreeing opinions.

Ahh, the Web Bot. My opinion is that the "claimed" hits they had, such as with Hurricane Katrina or the 2004 earthquake and tsunami in the Indian Ocean are merely just coincidences.

All that bots do is monitor information on the internet, and what the Web Bot does is make "predictions" on such things. It's no more a crystal ball than your smart phone is. The reason why is that the Web Bot predicted that in 2012, there'd be a cataclysmic event to the Earth, in relation to the 2012 Mayan prophecy, or that in 2011, the US dollar would collapse and Israel and Iran would go to war with the US going in chaos.

None of it turned out to be true, and the world has continued on.

I don't really care about it's predictions because 9/10 times it will be wrong or mere coincidence. My thing is its ability to decide to do that by itself, basically self-evolving, without being told to do so.
