Weekend Treasure Hunt 17: Blazing the Blood Trail

Ashin Varanin

Professional Enabler
The Blood Trail: a half-completed hyperlane meant to drive right through the Unknown Regions. Its mastermind is dead and gone, but the Trail remains under the control of Akure Executive Interstellar. That august and worthy corporation has put out a call for explorers. The Expeditionary Fleet under [member="Vassara Raxis"] has certainly gotten the call.

The route has been mapped in the broadest sense, but it has all the trials of any frontier trail. To drive the Blood Trail through the Unknown Regions is a labor of years, and a hundred threats may yet keep the lane from becoming real.

One such threat is the stretch between the beacons at Nemexia and Solovarna. The Sorcerers of Rhand were recently defeated at Solovarna, but psychotic prophets are not the only dangers here. The Children of Darzu, a hive-minded cult of technobeasts, are assimilating travelers and explorers. And space itself provides obstacles in the form of radiation waves, temporal distortions, hyperspace anomalies and meteor storms.

Explorers seek to understand and map the deep space between Nemexia and Solovarna. What they discover is worth its weight in gold.

OOC/ Posting this a bit early because tomorrow and Saturday are a bit nuts for me.

The rules are simple. Make your way from Solovarna to Nemexia while encountering the most insane, terrifying, awe-inspiring deep-space phenomena/attacks/crises/discoveries you can come up with. Those who come up with the best discoveries and obstacles, and work hardest in the thread, will get proportional rewards from AEI's out-of-stock catalog -- the best gear in the 'verse, not available to the public for the last six IRL months or so. Teaming up is totally fine. Please don't create anything that would break immersion or cause trouble.

Standard Weekend Treasure Hunt rules apply: follow Wheaton's Law.

Tyranus

The Avenger-Cruiser moves slowly through the strange space lane. Flaps extend from the sides of the ship and small thin but strong silver wings extend from the open flaps to act a a type of force to slow down the large vessel as it went through a strange and ungodly asteroid field. Tyranus walked through the corridors of the ship and then he walked into a large room with a circular table in the middle with chairs around the table along with some crates of booze on the table. Tyranus walks over to the table and then sat in a chair and reached his hands up and took off his helmet and wiped beads of sweat from his forehead. He put the helmet on the table and grabbed some booze and then took the cap off and began to drink it. He stopped and leaned back stretching and breathing. He took another wiz before setting his arms on the table and putting his head down between them.

Man, this new prosthetic foot is a pain!

She was in the hangar hanging out by her xwing which she could be found around usually "man when's anything going to happen" she said this more out of being bored then anything, she got up and started walking looking out at the field of floating rocks"well new frontier new place"she said to herself as she sighed"r8 see if you can get my water"she said as her little astromech beeped and rolled off coming back a few minutes later with some water"thanks little buddy"she took it taking a drink

YTA-1300 Light Freighter
Location: Near Solovarna
...the YTA-1300 Light Freighter came out of hyperspace in the vicinity of Solovarna. The spacecraft looked a little rugged however it was still in good condition and had even received a fresh coat recently as it were. At the helm Andras Garon studied the readings on his sensors while his copilot completed a systems check. Somewhere in the background the sounds of a third man could be heard in the general area of the ship. Looking up from his display Andras announced that..."Well this is the place."...he'd received a transmission not but a short time ago from Akure Executive Interstellar requesting that a stretch from Solovarna to Nemexia be explored a little more in depth than it had been prior. Andras was no stranger to the Unknown Regions so it wasn't difficult to convince him that this would be beneficial in some way. Even drumming up some support in the form of two other Mandalorians that would accompany him wasn't extremely difficult...

...the third man joined Andras and the Copilot in the cockpit where Andras would ask...
"Everything ready?"...before he received a confirmation at which point he'd nod..."Well alright then. No use waiting around to die."...the man had a bit of a dark sense of humor no denying it. As the third man disappeared back into the general area of the Light Freighter Andras would increase thrust and steer the ship towards the beacon near Solovarna easily, making contact with it as he circled his vessel around it once quickly, then he let the ship tear off in the direction of the great beyond. Leaning back into his chair Andras reached into one of his pockets and withdrew a cigarro before placing it into the corner of his mouth, lighting it and beginning to smoke slowly causing the cockpit to fill with the scent of the lit cigarro and a bit of ash...

...this region of space was fraught with dangers. Andras knew them well. The Sorcerors of Rhand. The Children of Darzu. About a million interstellar phenomena and just about every unknown thing that wanted to kill you in the galaxy. Which meant this should be at least mildly entertaining. This early into the journey it was all about watching the sensors which Andras ensured were set to work as the Light Freighter traveled ahead though jerking his head around at one point he'd have already encountered his first obstacle...
"Oh come on!"...he shouted from the corner of his mouth as he looked at the man seated next to him. Apparently these long interstellar flights gave him gas and let there be no mistaking that it smelt pretty awful. Now Andras was starting to regret this...

Location: Aboard The Archeron
Objective: Travel the broken route, bridge the gap.
Space Location: Hyperspace

Vassara was at the head of the bridge within the Archeron. It was Ark's vessel and as such he was the captain. However after one too many drinks during the planning process, Vassara had insisted to be the pilot for the mission. And a strange mission it was. They had received the communication on Tortuga several weeks ago and had immediately set sail.

Though the Fleet was small, this was thier primary mission. To explore, and possibly settle new lands and places. In the back of her mind she was replaying the events of Tortuga. The entire operation had its up's and downs, but this time she was determined not to have such a rocky mission.

"We've just entered hyperspace crew. ETA to our start point is ten minutes. We've al been itching for a mission, so here it is. Keep sharp, Raxis out."

She leaned back, brushing a loose strand of black hair from her blue eyes and gripped a stimcaf cup with an iron will. Recently she had trouble sleeping. Nightmares of the Cave on Illum and the Witch at Tortugas force presence haunted her. The Witch had done something there, marked her somehow. Now she showed up in spirit in her dreams, muttering strange things like she was an oracle.

To combat this she stayed awake and only slept two hours a night. Her eyes were bloodshot and her temper was strained as of late, but she could not bear to see that woman again. Nor to hear her tempting whispers.

"There is no chaos, only harmony." She whispered aloud, hoping no one else could sense her fragile state.

Venris had been attempting to acquire a vessel of his own in the past few weeks so that he might be able to assist the Fleet more without relying on them for transportation, unfortunately his opportunity to acquire one such ship that he'd had his eye on would not present itself until after this mission. In the meantime he occupied himself with practicing in an empty room, switching between the use of Soresu and Ataru against invisible opponents while being careful to not cut into the walls or floor.

In the midst of deflecting a barrage of nonexistent bolts of laser fire Venris felt something that made him pause. His time spent learning the ways of the Je'daii with Zavzen had left him more sensitive to emotional states than usual, but he could not place a finger on where the odour of fear was originating.

Extinguishing his lightsaber, Venris exited the room and began to calmly tour the ship from bow to back, letting the Force guide him until he was left walking in what seemed to be a trance. When he stopped and opened his eyes he found himself outside of the bridge. Venris opened the doors and stepped through.

Almost immediately he became aware of the source of the disturbance, and was not surprised to see that it was Vassara. As of late she had been different from her usual energetic and easygoing self, though he had assumed it to be attributed to the rather messy encounter with the Jedi Order. Up until now he hadn't tried to talk with her about her change in moods, and now he was immediately regretting that decision. If it had only been going on for a few days he would have no worries, but he had lost count of how long it had been since her attitude had descended into her present state.

To see the woman who had united them all under a common cause reduced to such a miserable state was saddening...and he wouldn't ignore it when there was a problem so obviously staring him in the face.

Venris walked over to Vassara, hearing her faint whispers. "....Vass?" He spoke after a few moments, trying to get her attention. "Vassara?"

[member="Venris Helion"]

Vassara nearly jumped as Venris came in. Her grip tightened around the tin mug and she scowled, trying to shield her emotions from her companion. The Glare Ice crystal in her pocket buzzed, the pontite playing a powerful melody in her soul, entrancing her in the force. Vassara smiled with her bloodshot eyes. The crystals centering properties and ability to cool her nerves had been one part of many that held her together.

"Come sit down mate. No booze today, just stim caf."

She leaned back in the chair, keeping a wary eye on the timer for the jumps end.

She felt the spiral on her shoulder ever more now. It was a strange sensation, and every-time she felt it she knew someone or something was watching, waiting to reach out.

You can't deny me forever....

"What's going on?"

YTA-1300 Light Freighter
Enroute from Solovarna to Nemexia
...blazing the blood red trail was something aside from being dangerous. It was also slow. The path had yet to be perfected which meant that as the trail was blazed everything needed to be accounted for down to the smallest and most miniscule anomalies. The YTA-1300 cruised along with thrusters at three quarters power which was fairly fast or would have been if not for the vastness of space. Earlier when one of the two men accompanying Andras had asked him why he was doing this he'd explained that he had his reason not the least of which was a desire to sate his own curiosity. It might just be that somewhere here between Solovarna and Nemexia that Andras discovered some anomaly that could assist him in some or make him famous if it didn't outright kill him when he discovered it. The Dark Horse was cunning sort though and there may have also been more than one reason why he'd brought his two helpers along...

...right, so, up until now everything had been proceeding normally. Nothing out of the ordinary. Andras continued to lean back into his seat and read the console while his copilot took over steering the starship. Out ahead of him he saw stars and beyond that only the black that was space. Andras felt comfortable here, in the black, having become a bit of a loner during all of his different assignments however he always remembered his home, his Clan, he just didn't always feel as though he belonged to them. Nostalgia was dangerous as well which is why he allowed himself to visit it so rarely seeing as how if he sunk to deep he could find himself in a real spot of sordid trouble. Without warning a panel on the console would light up and Andras would spring erect in his seat before staring off ahead of the ship via the viewport...
"Strange."...he mouth quietly..."Sensors are picking up something."...

...the more Andras looked the less he could see as though the readings were false but then he saw it. A faint pulse from one of the stars in the distance as though it was dispersing a wave of energy. Blue in color. Hazy. Well that wasn't a star though but an epicenter for something else. Something that might have appeared as a piece of the background but was actually much closer than it appeared. Another pulse and as the YTA-1300 drew closer so did the tidal wave of blue rush towards it. Andras turned his head shouting into the back of the ship...
"Brace for impact!"...it wasn't small at all. The Blue was a literal tidal wave, kilometers high and traveling at a speed that must have made hyperspace travel look slow because the epicenter of the disbursement was still no closer than it appeared to be before. Things were about to get rough...

They came out of hyperspace and Vassara was already moving calculating the jump. They had read the maps and she had plotted each jump before hand on paper and in the nav computer. The problem was the computer couldn't handle variables, but she could. Since she had been a freighter pilot most of her young life she had a knack for plotting jumps and manuevers in her head. As well the aid of the force really helped things sometimes.

She was still waiting for Venris reply but was engrossed in the punching of numbers into the computer. Jump number two would take them, theoretically right to the part that most reports indicated did not exist. Something or someone was stopping passage through a specific part of the unfinished hyperlane. Vassara ever curious wanted to know what, who, and why/

"Ok hold on gents and ladies, jump number two......now!"

She punched the last sequence of controls and the ship lurched slightly. She felt her stomach drop and then come up and she winced. Jumps were always a risky business, especially with unknowns in the mix.

Taking a look over the gear I carried, I loaded up my rifle. Slinging it over my back as I then picked up my beskad. Gripping it tightly with the Crushgaunts I wore. I put that into the sheath on my back as well. I grabbed the trench knife and stuck that in the sheath on my right waist. And with the slugthrower revolver on my right thigh, and left thigh. It looked like I was prepared for war. Really I was just gearing up for battle. This was normally what I carried. Alex on the other hand liked simple things such as her rifle, pistol, and her two vibro blades. Yes she too had crushgaunts that I had given to her. Rather old actually.

I had my helmet on as always. The Hud having it's soft blue glow behind the B'sant visor that was orange and reflective. Alex also had hers on. The blue visor thin and pin pointed. She stood a little bit shorter than me, but was nonetheless, still more powerful than half of these men here. She was a Warrior by trade. And a Mando by heart. As much as I wouldn't admit this to her, she was like the little sister that I never had.

I geared up and nodded my head to Alex as we both walked from the armory to the bridge. The ship lurching just as the door closed behind us. I smiled and walked forward to the Captain of the ship.

"Orders sir?"

YTA-1300 Light Freighter
Enroute from Solovarna to Nemexia
...well it wasn't long into their journey and they'd already encountered their first obstacle. Andras had shouted the order to brace for impact into the back of the Light Freighter so that his third associate was aware and then he turned face front to watch as the enormous tidal wave of blue washed towards them like a surf moving out across the beach. There was no escaping it. Literally kilometers high all anyone on board the starship could do was grab onto something and hope that they weren't utterly destroyed in the process that followed. Impact came quick and hard, not only was the tidalwave stretching kilometers high but it was also equally as thick in depth and width, the YTA-1300 was swept up like a piece of lint as it was drawn into the phenomena. The Blue of the tidalwave had actually been some type of composite energy that seemed to be what created the anomaly, as soon as it came within easy few arcs of that same energy could be seen wreathing its surface...

...
"Damage report!"...was all that Andras managed to howl as the ship was swept up considering that they weren't killed outright. An actual capital ship, say a Star Destroyer, might have felt some turbulence turning into the wave but a smaller ship like this literally had to ride it out and hope it wasn't ripped apart. Reports came in from the copilot that they'd suffered some power loss, lights flickering confirmed this as the ship compensated, however when Andras looked at the readings on his own console it was off the charts. Whatever this was it was an energy he'd never seen before and looking back towards his copilot he'd have said..."Ride it out. We didn't come here to die."...then he unbuckled himself and started to head into the back of the ship...

....moving down the corridor leading to the general area was tricky, Andras had to keep a hand on the wall and he was actually thrown onto his stomach at one point before recovering...
"Whats it look like back here?"...he called out as he found the other Mandalorian with him who pointed to the roof of the hold. Arcs a blue energy extended through the hull of the ship it continued to pass through the light freighter as though the metal wasn't even there and then they both saw it. A snap as the an arc of the energy extended outwards and hit the floor, then there was a man standing were the energy had struck, ethereal and ghostly looking...

...
"What the hell?"...was all that Andras managed to mutter as the ethereal figure extended a hand and started to come closer. Andras took a step back but the blurred figure was quick, quicker than Andras and it would be denied. It touched the Mandalorian, at least he thought it did and then it fell right through him as though it wasn't there at all disappearing altogether in the process as its phantasmal form dissipated. Now he'd seen a lot of things but this was a bit different and pausing, swallowing a lump in his throat even while his eyes remained narrowed he'd muttered..."Lets get out of here."...before heading back to the cockpit. Likewise the other Mandalorian didn't have much to say either...

[member="Reclaimer"] [member="Vassara Raxis"] [member="Venris Helion"]
Tyranus stood up, feeling a strange sensation from the force. He opened the door and made his way towards the bridge of the Archon, a smell of ash fumes stirred in the air making the air smell like that of gasoline. He walked past the dusty engine room, running a hand across a steel railing, the feel of cold steel making it's way up through the nerves in his hand. He looks through the small window of the engine room and then begins to walk up a flight of polished stairs made out of pure steel. He continues up the stairs and then makes his way to a narrow corridor and he begins to walk down it, steel railings lie upon the sides and the ceiling of the corridor. He walks into the bridge and see's the new member, the armor if the member surprises him and he wonders if that he is a Mando but he doesn't know for sure. Tyranus walks over to a leather seat and then sits in it and it has a Mando symbol painted onto the back of it in aqua blue.

So, are you this Reclaimer? The new member? If so, are you a Mandalorion.

YTA-1300 Light Freighter
Enroute from Solovarna to Nemexia
...a single ethereal apparition wasn't the end of this phenomenon's oddities. There was more. As he stumbled back down the corridor towards the cockpit of the ship Andras felt it. All the heat felt like it was being leached away from the ship. A tilt of the high towards the ceiling revealed what appeared to be frost, condensation, gathering there and exhaling a breath Andras was treated to the sight of a cool mist. Shaking his head this was no time to be indecisive but when he looked eyes front again another ethereal figure was standing there. Phantasmal like the last one it looked humanoid just standing there before outstretching an arm as though it were beckoning Andras forward but then it screamed and the howl pierced the wall between worlds and the Mandalorian heard it loud and clear. A step was taken but he stumbled just a bit looking at the horror ahead of him...

...he felt cold, almost sluggish but he couldn't just give up. With a reserve of strength he regained himself and then charged forward. Andras passed through the apparition the same as the last one causing it to disperse entirely. In the process he almost fell on his face and actually did land down on his chest with a thud..."Uhhhhhh."...he groaned before pushing himself up from the embrace of the now cool panels lining the floor then he proceeded into the cockpit of the ship and retook his chair in the pilots seat. As he burst into the cockpit asking...
"What's our status?"...he could see that the ship was still passing through the wave of blue energy and turning to look at the other Mandalorian he'd have noticed the concerned look on his features prompting him to ask..."What?"...

...the copilot explained that while Andras had been in the back they'd been receiving strange transmission via the comms. Screaming. Howling. Gibberish. It didn't make any sense. Andras listened to it a moment, leaned closer, it started out incomprehensible but he thought he made out words in it words that called to him...[Join us.]...which caused him to recoil and reach to switch the comms off...
"Like hell."...he stated before returning to his seat and buckling in. By now the YTA-1300 had started to even out prompting Andras to start to power up the engines..."I'd rather be killed in a hyperspace jump than stay in this freak show."...the console of the ship was slow to respond, Andras hit it once, the engines had started to power up even as the wave flowed across the hull of the freighter. "Punch it."...Andras ordered but nothing happened..."Punch it!"...he called out again and taking control from the copilot he'd try to activate the hyperspace jump but to no avail. Then it was all gone...

...the the blink of an eye the wave dissipated, the energy disappeared and the temperature of the ship returned to normal. All the anomalies cancelled out. Nothing was left. It was impossible to believe. Andras just sunk back into his chair and looked ahead, space had returned to normal, he stared out at the stars and he saw it again. A star that looked like it was pulsing in the distance, the same star the wave had come from, only it wasn't a star at all it was something else, something strange. Andras knew he didn't want to be here for the next wave it released so he said it one more time...
"Punch it."...then on his command the ship made its jump into hyperspace...

As I stood there waiting for my orders, I heard the sound of the doors opening, followed by footsteps. A voice rang out of a question. Asking if I was the new guy known as the Reclaimer. Alex turned around with her hands on her hips her armored boots thunking down onto the waxed floor. I simply turned my head as the question came if I was a Mandalorian. I looked him over for a second before turning around myself. I had a rifle in my hands ready for whatever may come. My own deep voice ringing out to ask a question in turn.

"And what is it to you Dar'manda?

I simply stood there as Alex did as well. In the simplest terms, I already knew he was not behind the Mand'alore. He was a Renegade. In essence, a Non-Mandalorian. If he really wanted to be snarky right now in the middle of a mission, I was willing to teach him a lesson in manners. I took another step forward when Alex reached out a hand and placed it on my shoulder. Letting me know to back down. I took my step back and found I was crushing down on the grip of the weapon I had. I relaxed myself.

"Yes, I am Reclaimer. As I asked, what is it to you?"

Tyranus put his elbow down onto his armored kneepad and his hand to his chin. He stayed in that fetal position for a moment before crossing his arms and just sitting their. His eyes darted towards the Relcaimer as he began to speak. Tyranus nodded slightly and then stroked his black hair for a moment before responding, keeping his voice calm but also in a slight intimidating tone that would be hard to identify but still visible to the naked ear.

Adramte at urcir gar, Nanasa'na. Ni cuyir Tyranus. ( Nice to meet you, Reclaimer. I am Tyranus. )

Tyranus then leaned back in his black leather chair, keeping both of his arms interlocked and a mandalorion pendant laid within his right palm. Tyranus closed both of his eyes and awaited a response from the Reclaimer. The door to the bridge opened and then closed when a man waled into the room with blue mandalorion armor and a blue cloak trailing behind him with a black Mandalorion symbol on the cloak along with a long barreled sniper-rifle strapped to his back. His heavy footsteps echoing behind him. The man then walked heavily towards Tyranus's chair and stood by his chair and the echos stopped. The man took off his scarred helmet and held it at his side, revealing a twenty-year old man with a bald head followed by a blonde beard and many scars along his face.

The man leaned forward as I spoke. Alex standing there and would watch my back as the man spoke about greeting me. As well as saying his name. Still, he didn't answer my question. I shook my head as another man walked up and took off his helmet. Another dar'manda. I couldn't judge because I kind of was one. However, I left in search of something. Something very valuable to me. And that is where I found Alex. And even in a million years, I wouldn't admit one thing. One thing that I really didn't want to even think of right now.

"Pirusti urcir. Gedet'ye, nalku'na tionas."

Looking him over, I still wanted the question answered. However Alex took her hand that was still on my shoulder and pushed down. Letting me know not to push anymore. As much as I wouldn't admit it openly, She was the only think keeping me from reaching over to this Tyranus and giving him a good beating to teach him manners. I may have not been really apart of the Mandalorians for a long time, but one thing was for sure, I had the skills that could clearly out weight his. he was barely an Initiate level by the looks of him. I had worked my way up farther than that when I was first with them.

** Translation: Well met. Please, answer the question.**

Tyranus stood up and walked briskly to a console and then looked at the strange readings on it, he was puzzled by the readings but ignored them and sat up on a bare part of the console clear of any buttons. He looked back towards the Reclaimer ans sighed. This man clearly didn't know the feat of his power but Tyranus wouldn't fight him unless necessary. Tyranus reached his hand down and felt a cold steel substance on his palm and he brought his gloved hand up and held his lightsaber shaft in his right hand. He rolled it around in his hand, a bit reckless but all the most careful. He looked back up at the Relcaimer and then finally answered.

One, why do I need to answer you. Two, I was just wondering who you are, no reason to get slightly ticked off.

Mando then sat in the leather seat and interlocked his hands and leaned forwards, awaiting the Reclaimers response. He took his sniper from his back and then began to load in a chamber and then their was a click as he strapped it back into place on his back. Mando crossed his arms and just sat their silently, watching the situation unfold in front of him.

I shook my head as the man moved about the bridge as though he owned the place. He moved as though he had power. And I could feel it in him. He might feel an inking within me, but I denied it. Alex kept an eye on the other Mando while I was looking to this other man. He pointed out that I was getting a little salty towards him. And it was true. Sure I was. It's who I was. I always seemed to be a little salty towards others. Either way, I was not liking this man's attitude.

"Because a name means nothing. It only is worth in the reason it's used."

I may look and seem young, but I was much older than this kid. I probably had fought in wars and battles while he was playing with toy ships and lightsabers. Looked him over visibly and could see as the man played with his lightsaber hilt. Sure, he had that, but that doesn't mean crap against me. I had fought against Sith and Jedi before. It's not like he would be any better.

"I ask because I want to know why you talk to me. I didn't want to talk to you. I want orders on what to do. And you clearly don't seem to be able to give them out."

Ouch, now that was a possible way to hurt his pride. But that didn't matter. I was ready for him if he really decided to attack me. And so was Alex who continued to watch the man as he loaded a round in the sniper rifle. She had her hands on her hips where the twin vibroblades were. Considering they were at her hips, it looked natural for her hands to be on them casually, but in the blink of an eye, she could draw them if need be.

At that last remark Tyranus stood up, their was a sudden click as he clicked his lightsaber back onto his belt and then walked very close to the Reclaimer. Tyranus didn't draw his weapons but kept his hands clenched in fists at his sides. His eyes darted towards the Reclaimer as he began to speak to him, a harsh and strict tone to his voice like that of a drill sergeant just not shouting and talking at a normal volume.

You think I know nothing of leadership, right? Will I can tell you different, I grew up a slave, over the years gained the trust of my owner until becoming a member of the army. Went up the ranks in the army until i reached general, I fought countless battles against rebels and other hostiles to my "people." T-then, I-i found out my heritage and my family and then guess what! My sith brother came and butchered them right in front of me, I saved as many as I could but I got this scar from him in response.

Tyranus points towards a long scar reaching from the tip of his neck down to the bottom of his neck with a slight red hue in certain areas. He then pauses and continued to speak, the same anger in his voice but a bit less of a harsh tone

Then, he framed me! I lost my place in the army and was named a fugitive. Then I came here, the one place I belonged! So this is now my home, my friends, my family! So don't go telling me I can't take charge or fight when needed because I will tell you, I have all the right too!

Tyranus then walks away from him and turns around, his gold eyes staring towards the wall in front of him. The click of engines could be heard from the engine rooms even in the bridge, making clicking noises echo throughout the bridge. He brought a hand to where his scar was along his neck and then flinched slightly as his hand swept over a certain spot on his neck which took most of the lightning damage.

I looked the man over as he came right up to my face. He couldn't see it, but I rolled my eyes as he went through his life story. Almost yelling at me as though it was my fault that I wanted to make sure who I was talking to didn't go around and spreading that I was here. I liked to lay low. And really, I knew that this man lost his cool. Lost it real quick. If he really was a General, and a good combatant, then he wouldn't yell at his possible men unless absolutely necessary.

Leading 101 was that you don't win over your troops by guilt tripping them. As he walked away. I just shook my head and took a step forward after him.

"You are not the only one to lose family. So don't guilt trip me into believing that you deserve the higher rank, when you just lost your cool in front of all of the men here at the bridge, as well as one of your potential soldiers."

I had no condescending tone. No anger in my voice. It was just there. Almost as if I was talking to a wall. I kind of was, but I continued anyways. Feelings might be hurt, but if someone went through life without stepping on people's toes, then they were either a Liar, or a cheat.

"Everybody here has some story. So don't thrust yours onto them. I asked because I lay low. I avoid my past as much as I can. I get you can see where I am heading that I don't want my name out in the open."

Regardless of if the man cared or not, I walked up to stand beside him while he still looked out away from me. My footfalls rather heavy.

"Don't share your life story again. or others may learn of who you are, and use that against you. A little leverage is all they need. Keep your life hidden, and safe."

After speaking those words I began to walk away and back towards the commander who was the actual one in charge of this fleet, and the activity that would be done here. I wanted orders from them, not a Dar'manda who needed anger management classes, and a therapist.
