Weird Science (Vantai Ladies)

Malachor V, Vanessa Vantai's Laboratory

The green-skinned young woman stared across to the contraption that her mother had set up for her. Alraune had been thinking long and hard about this decision, and had given her plea to her mother. Alraune knew that, one day, she wanted to have a biological family of her own. Yet, she was also uniquely aware of her kind's rarity among the stars. Rather than being dressed in her usual, skintight outfit, she was draped in simple robes. She tapped her fingers nervously, fidgeting a little as she saw everything beginning to come to fruition.

"Mother...I cannot thank you enough." She said meekly to older Vantai nearby, "You have no idea how indebted I will be if this is successful."

She looked at the alchemical device that they had managed to restore. Alraune was desperate to become more human-like, that she was willing to take the risk of transferring her essence like many Sith had done before. She looked to the stasis pod that held what would hope to be her new body. Red hair, pink skin, and a body almost identical in porportions to her current form. She was estatic and nervous all at the same time. There was enough risks where the transfer could go wrong, but she trusted to the powers of her mother, who was a stronger, capable sorceress in her own right. Alraune began walking to the device.

"I think I'm ready..." She said as she sat down, starting to lay down.

Vanessa was a bit mixed in her reaction to Alraune's intending to change her body. On one hand, she was proud that her daughter had chosen to make such a significant life-altering decision - literally life-altering, as she would no longer be a plant, but a mammal. Her old body would return to storage with the nine hundred and ninety-nine others here at the Trayus laboratory, but her daughter would continue to live on. The usage of Essence Transfer instead of simply using GenDestruct was a deliberate choice on Vanessa's part.

"Alraune, sweetie... I just want to remind you that if you do this, you'll be experiencing a whole new set of sensations when compared to what you've been used to. You also won't be able to do a lot of what you've become used to doing. If you ever want to change back... just let me know. Please. The last thing I want is to see anything bad happen to you."

Vanessa stood to the side and began to memorize the necessary arcanery required in order to perform this transfer. If she made a mistake... it would mean the death of her only daughter, and she would never be able to forgive herself.

"I know, mother.' The plant girl nodded to her creator. She laid back comfortably, looking at the one she considered her mother. "I want you to know, should anything go wrong. You have been a good mother to me."

She closed her eyes and began to feel the energies of the dark side flow through her. She also had the feeling of her essence being pulled from her current body. She relaxed her mind, knowing that any sort of resistance would jepardize the ritual. Her soul left her body, the plant form going limp on the table. It was now up to Vanessa to do the rest.

Vanessa was as careful as she could be to transfer the spirit of her daughter into the new body. If she passed, she would be horrified by the results. So it was that she would soon place the spirit of Alraune into the newer, fleshier body. She said nothing - all that was required of her right now was focus. Once he was certain that Alraune’s spirit had “attached” to her new body, she sighed and let herself relax, falling back into a chair she had prepared in the event she exhausted herself.

Now it was time to wait and see what happened.

It felt like her entire life had flashed before her eyes. Not that her life was all that long. Memories of learning how to fly a starfighter, lightsaber combat. Comforting moments with her mother. Then a brief flash of a woman...holding her? No, cradling her. Black hair, kind eyes. A bright light overcame her.

Before her new body opened her eyes. She hissed in irritation as all the returning sensations flooded at once. She took a long, deep breath, calming her senses. Alraune was indeed changed. No long was she the plant-like woman of before. While she retained her rose-red hair, body was decidedly more human. Well, Zeltron to be more precise. Her skin was a light, inhuman pink tone. Her eyes, once deeply emerald, now looked out with deep violets. Dressed in a simple medical gown, the newly bodied girl sat up gingerly.

"Who....was that?" She said out loud, holding her head. She dare not stand yet. Part of her lower extremities were still coming out of their numbness.

"Who was what?" Vanessa was slightly confused - she did not understand what her daughter meant by this. Alraune had only minimally interacted with people while Vanessa was helping to teach her how to enjoy life, but if she had met someone, someone she didn't recognize, Vanessa would have to help her figure it out. "Could you describe the person to me, maybe? I might know who they were, or at least help you find out."

It couldn't be who she thought it was, could it?

"While I was briefly....truly one with the Force, I had....memories come all at once. It was like a holovid of my life up to this point." She explained, briefly wiggling her toes to help get feeling to her feet. "Most of them were with you. But....there was this woman. Human, I think. Young. Black hair. She was cradling me....like if I was a baby."

She rubbed her eyes, her head still ringing as the process started to settle itself. She shook her head to get the sensation alleviated. She looked back to her mother.

"Details still fuzzy. But I know it was not you." She said simply, "I'm feeling better however. I'm starting to feel more adjusted."

A clatter would come from Vanessa as she dropped the tray she was holding, practically frozen in place. "Young? Black hair? Cradling you? Not me?" She said in rough, pained words as a tear came to the corner of her eye. She turned and looked at her daughter. "Alraune..." She said, pausing. "Do you really want to know who that was? I will tell you if you legitimately want to know."

It would hurt Vanessa and possibly destroy her relationship with her daughter, but she was willing to do it.

Alraune was startled by the sudden clang of the tray. She looked to Vanessa with concerned, violet eyes. She saw the tears run in her mother's eyes. A twinge of emotion ran in her chest, but nodded. "I do not like secrets, mother. Who is she?" Her tone was pointed like a sword ready to strike.

She had feeling back in her legs. She swung her legs over. She gingerly stood up in the presence of her mother. She was becoming increasingly suspicious of Vanessa's behavior. Her eyes stared directly at the one she called mother, almost demanding answers.

“She’s someone who is dead.” Vanessa said. “And she isn’t coming back. Suffice to say that I was called by her father to bring her back to him, to remold her into a new woman. And I fell in love with that new woman. I took her as my wife, and I created you. You grew in her belly and were our child. I did my best to keep her safe and you safe too - her father kidnapped her and tortured her. Tried to murder me too. I killed his assassins, destroyed his infrastructure, and killed him, but by the time I reached your mother, she was slipping away, becoming the old woman she had been before. I had to let her go. And the woman who was your mother is dead, her current personality not even remembering the life we shared or the child we raised.”

She choked up, on her knees as remorse followed. “After that, I put you in a stasis tube so you would not have to live the time between when she left and when I revived you wondering what happened to your other mother. I swore I would not tell you until you asked me.” She sighed.

“Her name is Silfe. [member="Silfe Sosuri"].”

Alraune took all of what her mother told her. The more that was said, the more a swirl of anger and feelings of betrayal formed in the pit of her stomach. The vibrations in the Force around her became increasingly infused with the Dark Side. The now Zeltron's eyes turned from violet, to the red-orange speckled discs of dark side corruption. Her hand flew out, shaped like it was grasping something. Vanessa would feel a phantasmic squeezing around her throat.

"You lied to me!" She shrieked, eyes welling with tears, "All this time....I thought I was just something grown in a tube."

As much as she wanted to squeeze tighter, all she saw was the woman who raised her. She released her grip and stormed off towards her room. She was still, mentally, quite immature. She needed to process her emotions in her own way.

If there was one thing Vanessa had not been prepared for, it was for the Force Choke. She gasped, hand clutching at her throat and trying to think of a way to react. “You... were... for the longest time... then I put you... in Silfe...” When Alraune finally stopped choking her, she fell to her knees again and began to loudly cough, in severe pain because of what she had done. For now, she would stay away from Alraune until her daughter wanted to talk.

Vanessa returned to her room thusly, waiting for the moment, the hour, or the day in which that would happen.

It seemed like hours that Alraune cried. It was her first experience crying actual tears, however. She wiped away the hot, salty water from her eyes. She had definitely felt hurt from the revelation. However, she had evenutally calmed herself down. She felt truly tired for the first time. However, should could not yet fall asleep.

Wiping her eyes once more, the newly-reborn Zeltron stood and walked out of her room. She walked slowly to where her mother called her own room. She lifted a hand to knock on the door, but was hesitant. She had force-choked her own mother, and she was deeply ashamed of that. She took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself. Whatever the consequences were now, she had to accept them.

"Come in." Vanessa said through the door. "It's okay." When Alraune finally entered, Vanessa was there wearing a nightgown. She motioned for her daughter to sit next to her on the side of the bed. "I'm sorry I never told you, but I felt it was something to tell you about only when I was sure you were ready." She wrapped her arms around her daughter and held her as close as she possibly could in a comfy hug. "I should have told you a long time ago. I'm sorry..."

She was legitimately saddened by this entire series of events.

All Alraune could do was just hold onto her mother as tightly as she could. She felt no words could be said to make up for what she had done. She had attacked her own mother, She just laid her head against her mother's shoulder. There were a couple moments that she opened her mouth to say something, but quickly closed them again. Silent tears rolled down her pink cheeks. She just felt tired, both her body, and seemingly her own mind as well. "What....was she like?" Her voice managed to say something, sounding hoarse from her own crying.

As Alraune leaned against her, Vanessa wrapped both her arms around her daughter and gave her a tight hug, keeping her close. Tears began to run down her own eyes - tears of regret, both for what she had done to craft the new Silfe and what she had hidden from Alraune. "She was a wonderful person." Vanessa said, trying valiantly to compose herself. "Always so loving, so tender. She cared so much about you and was very proud that you were her daughter." She patted Alraune on the head cautiously, not knowing how stable her daughter's emotional state was now.

"I will admit that sometimes we probably went a bit overboard with each other." She forced out a chuckle.
