We're Star Wars Toys always so Expensive?

I ask this because i have been thinking about re collecting Star Wars action figures much like i did when the Prequals came out. However the toys are incredibly expensive for characters that aren't really interesting and to an extent boring looking, because yes everyone is going to pay $20.00 for a Black Series Constable Zuvio! So i ask the question has Star Wars toys always been this expensive?

Yep, when they are not in the clearance isle.

I had started collecting SW toys when I just happen to shop right after they were unbelievably discounted. ..after X-mas, and the store chain had somehow miscalculated the demand for them and must have over ordered or something. Needless to say, I wouldn't have gotten the itch to collect them if they had been at their regular prices. Then of course I had to dig in deeper in my pockets to acquire some at retail prices elsewhere to complete what I had started at a discount.

Still, it was worth it, but at a cost nevertheless. :)

Only some are official branded items, but I've managed amass a few thousand dollars worth or Star Wars collectibles, from the minifigures to replica helmets to lightsabers. Star Wars is one of, if not the biggest fictional franchises in the world, with some of the most dedicated fans in the world, so it's not difficult to imagine them willing to pay higher price points for some memorabilia.

I'm also a member of the 501st Legion, and I can say that it was not cheap to get an outfit up to their standards. Charity seems to be a good excuse to justify that kind of spending though, and it's great to bring out on Halloween.

As a child of the 80s I can say they were SUPER CHEAP then - $1.99-$2.99 at Toys R Us, Caldor, Jamesway, etc. since it was 1986 and they were warming pegs.

I have like 5-7 Jedi Luke figures, all in various stages of nose damage because of a manufacturing error that caused him to sit with his face pressed against the bubble.

Of course after a while all you could find was Admiral Ackbar. It's no surprise that people still come across carded vintage figures. They made so many that once He-Man and GI Joe came calling, the demand plummeted and it was Goodnight Corellia.
