Visiting the market wasn't a very common thing for me. Or at least it didn't used to be. More often than not I had visited the various dress shops in the High Street district. The elegant fabrics and beautiful designs were something to behold. And the whole experience was a far cry from my day to day of office work and corporate business meetings.
But things were changing here on New Cov. An election was soon to be under way for the people to choose their new leader. As exlected, there was some division amongst the candidates and I can only guess that Lord Omri had a hand in that. Afterall he has never been pleased with any decision that I had made. Yet I do my very best to not be baited by him.
With the seperation of NCBC and the government, I am able to not don so many hats. I will no longer be tasked with running both a corporation and a planet. Some of my burdens will be lifted from my shoulders, which I am told is a good thing. I am a workaholic and always have been. My quick rise through the ranks within the Board of Directors proved that. This change will perhaps enable me a few moments of free time, and that may help to bring my nightmares to an end.
I plan on running a bit of an Expo in the coming days, inviting companies specializing in droids to bring in their best to help assist me. And for that I needed to look my best if I am to secure for myself a great deal on one. And that is what this visit to the market is for.
A couple of my guards keep pace behind me. Enough so that I can forget their presence. They weren't exactly a chatty bunch; which is fine for it is not my place to distract them while they work. I cannot do anything to prevent them from doing their job.
However the sound of voices being raised catches my attention, returning my focus to the present. My guards closen the gap between us out of caution. Two men appeared to be arguing. A speederbike unlike one that I had ever seen is parked between them. Both men seem to gesture to it, so as far as I can surmise, the argument seems to center on it.
And they are blocking the path of the dress shop that I wanted to go into. "Excuse me? Is everything all right here gentlemen?"
