What Fun We will have

Harkov was one of the finest craftsmen in the galaxy, though he was a thin man who when you first looked at him appeared to be sleep deprived and a sufferer of a form of OCD. Faith still found things about him to like. He always made sure she felt safe by providing a level of security that compared to none and he never asked unnecessary questions of her.

“So MiLady, are you window shopping today?” Faith did not have a lot of credits to spend on jewelry but she enjoyed the tea, the conversation, and looking at such baubles that were a delight to look upon.

Faith leaning on the glass counter looked up into the eyes of the man who needed sleep, “Yes to all the above, do you mind?” She tried not to be a nuisance to him. He motioned her to come back and sit at a small table, a place where they often discussed the status of the galaxy.

“As long as my lady does not mind that I wait on other customers while she is entertained” They both laughed.

“I will try to curb my demand for attention Harkov” She smiled this light banter between friends was just that banter it meant nothing more than teasing from one to the other.

“I hear you have a body guard” He poured her tea, as he looked towards the door of the Jewelry store. “Is he anything like Tellos?”

Faith looked at Harkov for a moment she drifted away in thought, “He is younger, more serious, you would like him”

Harkov grinned, “would I LIKE him, or just like him?”

Faith giggled, “you would just like him.”

The door opened again. “Excuse me Faith”

Gavin XIII

Sour Candy Sithspawn
Gavin was relatively okay with running mercenary work on the anti-Sith side of the lines, but it occasionally had more hassle than benefit attached to it. The would-be senatorial assassin in front of the resurrected Sithspawn was definitely part of the hassle. The internal hemorrhaging causing him to wince with pain at every step was another hassle, but not one he felt he'd inflicted upon himself.

The assassin stepped forward, some kind of power gauntlets glowing under his hooded cloak. His breathing sounded metallic, and Gavin guessed that the man was wearing a respirator. This was an oxygen atmosphere, and the man seemed like an oxygen-breathing life form which suggested... Gas. The man would use gas.

Of course, in the ten seconds it took the Sithspawn to come to this conclusion, the cloaked man had stepped into him. The hilt of the blade impaling one of Gavin's lungs was quite visible. With a genuinely disappointed sigh, Gavin flexed his cybernetic left hand and gathered a hard sheathe of the Force around it, sending a left jab that cracked the taller man's stupid respirator into pieces. The blonde's voice was a dangerous whisper.

"Who do you think you're messing with, kid?"

Harkov was not gone very long but he looked genuinely disturbed, “my lady, did you bring your body guard today?”

Faith slid off the chair, “he is around but I told him to come back later” Faith could see in his eyes something was wrong something out of sorts.
“What is it?”

Harkov took her hand, “I am not sure but there are things happening on the streets it would be best if you could leave but, if you cannot then we must think of a way get you out” He was serious.

Faith nodded, “you sure it’s as bad as you make it sound” Faith not at all patient walked towards the door holding on to Harkov just in case. She moved to the front door and opened it, stepping out.

“Faith” the stern voice of Harkov admonished her.

She looked around, “I don’t see anything” and then she went inside. “Let’s finish our tea” She still looked towards the windows. In case, she was wrong.

Gavin XIII

Sour Candy Sithspawn
Gavin grunted as the annoyingly persistent man stabbed him with another knife, cutting into another lung. The Sithspawn backhanded him with his metal arm, sending him flying as Gavin wheezed from the sudden lack of oxygen. After a few seconds, he managed to inhale just in time to crack the man's jaw before he shouted, "I only have four lungs, nerf herder! Have... some... damn... consideration."

He punctuated each word with a strike, ending in a gut wound that wasn't fatal, but was definitely almost as painful as having two stabbed lungs. Gavin now stood back and looked at the man, shaking his head. The man was totally taken apart and probably wouldn't recover from the damage without serious medical attention. He muttered, "Well, I can't imagine you were planning to do any better. Hope that doesn't hurt too much."

With that, he pulled out two bags of sour candy, threw one on the whimpering assassin, and opened one up for himself before walking towards the strange little shop that had been specified as where he should meet the Senator.

Still with two knives in his chest.

Gavin happily chewed his sour candy.

Harkov could shake the feeling that something was wrong, or lingering he didn’t know which he only hoped that Faith would stay put and not exhibit her usual tenacity when it come to the unknown.

“There are pearls coming in next week you should come and see them, Night Pearls Faith”

Faith smiled, “I’ve never seen them, but then I’ve never seen many things. What about the rainbow gems?”

He nodded, “I could only get a couple the Hapans are very protective of them but they are coming and I think I have a buyer”

Faith and Harkov continued the conversation until it was time for Faith to go she stood up thanked Harkov, but noticed that Marev had not returned for her. She contemplated going on her own.

She shrugged her shoulders, “See you later Harkov, thank you” Faith exited to the sidewalks and began to walk towards the square.

It was a beautiful evening, night had not yet settled in. Faith headed into the crowded square stopping at a vendor to find a bite to eat.

Gavin hummed quietly to himself as he walked across the square. He ignored the unabashed gaping of the people who passed him, seeing a food cart that seemed to have some sort of good-smelling meat over rice. The jolly-looking old man blinked, did a double take, and then just sighed resignedly as he cooked the Sithspawn's order. When Gavin was about to walk away from the cart with his food, the vendor stopped him with a hand on his shoulder.

"Kid, I didn't want to bring it up, but ain't you gonna see a doctor? You've got a little something on your chest there."

Gavin looked down at the protruding hilts of the knives in his chest and shrugged as he replied, "Nah. I'll be fine. I don't even feel them."

The other man shook his head in disbelief, wondering if his new customer was some kind of freak, "How're you even breathing? Those knives should be ripping your lungs up."

"Same way we're talking, mister. Inhale, exhale."

The old man felt like he needed somebody to agree with him, and this red-coated blonde was not that person. He looked around until his eyes lit on a pretty young woman standing nearby. Gavin thought she looked familiar, but there was nothing to do about that. It wasn't until the old man tapped her that he realized why he thought he recognized her. He heard the old man say, "Miss, don't you agree that my young friend here should go get medical attention?"

She had the face of the employer on his job slip. Something-or-other Organa.

[member="Faith Balor-Organa"]

Faith turned to look at the young man, her mouth opened to form the perfect O, “Oh my yes you should see someone, and you should sit down”

Faith was over to the young man quickly, “Who did this to you? We should call the authorities” Faith couldn’t believe he was still standing let alone talking.

All thoughts of food poofed when she saw he was hurt. “my goodness” Was all she kept repeating over and over. She smiled her most comforting smile, “What’s your name?” couldn’t keep saying the young man.

Gavin looked at the woman, confused, glanced down at the hilts of the knives sticking out of him, and grinned sheepishly. Mentally kicking himself, he looked at her over his glasses as he positioned his hands on the hilts of the two blades in his lungs. He replied, "Well, love, a certain self-proclaimed senatorial-level assassin bestowed these upon me. I imagine he's bled out completely by now."

He yanked one blade out, threw it to the ground so that it impaled the pavement next to his foot, and continued, "My name is Gavin. Also-" he pulled the other knife and threw it exactly an inch to the right of the first one, making his voice as quiet as she could possibly hear clearly, "- I do believe I was hired for you, Your Republicness."

[member="Faith Balor-Organa"]

Love? Well that was a bit familiar wasn’t it. Faith made a face as she watched this young…then he started pulling the blades out, all seemingly as if nothing more than a mosquito bite. Was he a man? Or something else? And if so, what was the something else that could withstand being stabbed.

She inched back, “Gavin” she repeated the name. Then he got quiet and nearly whispering said he was hired for her.

“For me” she asked, “to do what, be a pin cushion?” She smiled.

Gavin casually grinned back at the woman, shrugging his shoulders in a fashion that might have been painful if the holes in his chest even registered with him. But they didn't, and he was quite able to look at his temporary employer with the same old mix of sarcasm and good humor that was normally on his face. He grabbed the plate of food he'd just bought, munched on some of it reflectively, and then looked back up at the woman to answer, "Among other things, yes. Pincushion, gunslinger, meat shield, test rat. You get the gist of it. Although," he took another bite of his food, "I don't enjoy being a meat shield as much as I like being a pincushion."

[member="Faith Balor-Organa"]

“Good to know, maybe I should call you pincushion” She watched him and decided he was ok she did not know how and she was afraid to ask.

“I think I will get something to eat, why don’t you have a seat…pincushion, and then we can talk more” She wanted to find out what he was. And was there concern that get she was in danger here, a danger that she didn’t know.

She rose up and spoke with the vendor getting two hot dogs with the fermented cabbage on it, with something called spicy mustard and some cold tea. Then she headed to where Gavin the Pincushion waited.

“So..how come you’re not dead” She picked up a dog and took a healthy bite a she waited for him to answer.

Gavin chuckled at Faith's insistence on calling him a pincushion and took another few bites of his food while she went and got hers. He thought about how much he should really tell her. On one hand, it wasn't like she was going to be able to physically kill him, and he was already dying. On the other hand, he didn't know enough about her to be sure that something he mentioned about being a Sithspawn wouldn't send her on some kind of crazed witch hunt.

That was the sort of thing that had caused him to already lose two bodies, and be on the verge of dying with this one, wasn't it?

When she came back and asked him why he wasn't dead, he laughed loudly, and spread his hands out in an exaggerated gesture of nonchalance, "What's two lungs to somebody who has four? As long as I'm not decapitated or internally deteriorating, I'm probably not dead," He grinned jokingly, "And even then... who knows? I'm a maniacal monster of a man, apparently."

And then he shrugged and went back to eating. He'd basically told her the truth in a way that sounded like he was teasing her. There were worse ways to hide information, no?

[member="Faith Balor-Organa"]

Faith listened taking in what he said unsure if he was being sarcastic back at her or telling her the truth. Either way she would have to be cautious with him.

She chewed a bit slower as she listened.

“Maniacal Monster of a Man, well….where do you come from?” She would get to the bottom of some of this.

She wanted to ask her other question again, but now she had all these details that she wasn’t sure of and they required she ask other questions first.

Gavin kept on eating until his food was done, closed the container, and tossed it across the square, stopping above the trash container where it dropped straight in. Now she actually had his complete attention, and he could completely focus on telling half-truths. He looked at her as she was eating, and replied, "Well, I'm from Tatooine. Little street rat kid who got an arm blasted off. Spent some time underground, and came out with this beautiful work of art."

He pulled up his left sleeve to show the prosthetic arm on that side, and grinned, "And then the Hutts learned not to mess with me, y'know? Eventually, I got known as Thirteen. Lucky number, eh? 'Ventually I went and got it tattooed under my collar. Scares the hell out of a guy in a gunfight."

[member="Faith Balor-Organa"]

This was interesting she listened with an attentive ear as she watched his face. He seemed to be quite full of pride in regards to his arm, and his name.

She thought she could understand why he would, he had survived, and it had meant a great deal to him.

“Why would it scare someone in a gun fight?” Curious for certain. She continued to chew her food, while washing it down with a drink. All her attention on Gavin.

Gavin chuckled and thought again about how much he should tell her. Telling her about exterminating a Hutt family on Tatooine was a relatively innocuous decision, and the tattoo wouldn't mean anything to anybody who didn't have direct access to whatever report Sera had written about him.

Plus, he was damn proud of himself, no matter how many bodies he'd had and lost already. He was a justifiably feared man, and he was more than willing to say so, "When you wipe out a palace full of Hutts on Tatooine, most people take it to mean that you can off anybody anywhere."

[member="Faith Balor-Organa"]

Wipe out a palace full of Hutts "that is quite a feat for someone, an entire palace you say" She instinctively backed up to keep a little more distance. So, why would someone send her him.

"So you said you're here to help me, can you tell me again from what?" She had grown use to certain types of threats which kind had prompted someone to hire [member="Gavin XIII"]

She did not want to be nervous but she could not always hide the fear within her it would slowly seep out. But for now she was passive, and still curious.

Gavin XIII

Sour Candy Sithspawn
Gavin watched the senator back away from him after he answered her question. That hurt a little, but not enough for him to say anything. He had that effect on most people, and it wasn't like he'd expected a senatorial type to be any braver about that sort of thing than his normal employers. He replied, "Well, I didn't come out of that looking so good. And then a couple of Jedi took it upon themselves to beat me most of the way to Hell."

He got rid of that train of thought fast. Nobody, especially not a Republic senator, needed to know about his problems with the Jedi Order. As far as Faith was concerned, he was just a seriously abnormal humanoid who took out contracts from the 'Pubs. He shook himself out of his thoughts and continued, "As for why I was hired for you? Clowns like the guy who stabbed me. Nobody else, short of another Gen'dai, would be able to take as much punishment as me. "

[member="Faith Balor-Organa"]

"So you are to accompany me while I am here to ensure nothing happens" She was still curious about his remarks about the Jedi, considering her family had Jedi within its ranks, and that Jedi served the Republic.

But she had to remember there was always two sides to every story to every turn, she was sure she was only getting his side. She took another bite of her food chewing slowly as she thought.

"So are you impervious to pain and harm?" She was thinking about some of the readings her Aunt had done, and her brother. They spoke of such things to one another, but was [member="Gavin XIII"] one.

Gavin XIII

Sour Candy Sithspawn
"Well not nothing," Gavin replied, "Just nothing that I can't handle. Getting myself stabbed through a couple lungs is manageable."

He looked at Faith as he answered her other question, "No, I'm not impervious to pain. At all. Whatsoever. I just regenerate fast enough that I don't care about self-preservation in a fight."
