What I've Been Dreaming For

Edge of Oroaturoo System,

A long time ago the Sith Apprentice had spoken to Darth Mierin about wanting to become an Admiral for the One Sith. For the most part she had given her his blessing, at least he had translated it as such, and ever since then he had been preparing himself. Studying ships from the past in the Imperial Palace, writing up his own blueprints and studying what ships the One Sith had in their own Navy.

Today however, wasn't going to be the regular training day that the Sith had set up for himself previously. No, today he was going to be leading a patrol on the fringes of Republic and One Sith space, mostly to complete the blueprints for a ship he meant to have commissioned by Tantorian Industries, and to be certain that he truly was meant to be an Admiral.

What better way than to practice in a life or death situation. Sitting at the head of the Dark Blade Dreadnought, Malphas awaited for what he hoped would be a rapid response from the Republic once they had picked up the One Sith's taskforce on the edge of their system. Hopefully their long-range sensors would have picked them up, but if not, they soon would since the plan with the rest of Malphas's Captains had been to proceed with sublight engines for a while and jump again for a few moments before dropping out once more.

He may have been greener than the grass on Tython, but he knew that it'd be a bad idea to get caught in Republic space and they came down upon him like a waterfall.

Smooth sailing so far on her first patrol of the western front. Reports stated things were calm since Teta. The Sith were biding their time evidently. the initiative was theirs but no move came forth. Whatever plans they were forming would unfold soon, else they'd be back under a steel boot. "Ensign. Can I get a status update of the probes of our patrol route".

"Yes sir". The Ensign worked for a few minutes as Hawke sat in silence. There was little hustle and bustle. A lot of screen staring. They'd been sitting out maybe five minutes in real space to do these kinds of checks now. "Sir. Jump detected into the Oroaturoo System. Quite possibly Sith".

"Right then. Navigation. Get me a jump path to the Oroaturoo System. On the double"! Hawke was nearly on the edge of her seat. The fury of battle was near. Though this was simply a single hit. They could be long gone by the time they'd arrive. She couldn't ignore any signs. Whatever the probes indicated needed to be checked out. "Check to see if any of our ships were supposed to be entering that sector. I don't want to chase our own". A short time latter and a status update was strongly suggesting this was a Sith ship.

"Navigation reporting. Jump coordinates ready Commander".

"Alright Mr. Anderson, get us into Hyperspace. Call in the others in range. Tell them to meet us on the near side of the planet. We're forming a Wolfpack to hunt some Sith". Hawke leaned back in her chair as her orders were carried out. It was almost an hour from their location, then added time for the pack to gather. It was up to the Sith to linger, or it could be that an invasion force was coming. Either way, they needed to go. Hawke jolted slightly as they blasted into Hyperspace. The light of the stars streaked back before the optical screen was turned on. Soon they'd pounce.

Malphas's fleet didn't jump into the actual system itself, he refrained from doing so. He was on the fringe between One Sith Space and Galactic Republic Space, where the lines of borders faded out. There was nothing to show that it belonged to either side, only the inevitable battle that Malphas knew would follow his appearance.

"Sir! Scanners say there is a fleet approaching. Allegiance most likely Galactic Republic based upon the path they are taking and what the long-range sensors are telling us."

Several other officers moved back and forth across the bridge to verify what the ensign was saying. It turned out to be true, and he nodded a bit to himself. "Have the Carrier Analog deploy it's starfighters, and drop ships. Vanguards at the front, Razers behind them. Carrier directly in front of us."

Now, all he had to do was wait as his orders were carried through. There was not much for the Sith Acolyte to be doing except waiting for the enemy taskforce to appear, and when they did, he hoped they'd be surprised at what was waiting for them.

Hawke's own ship, The Templar. Burst into the Oroaturoo System; close to the habitable planet. "Status on the enemy. And open a line to the systems defense network. Get them to send us anything they have that would be relevant". They only hung around Oroaturoo for a short time. Establishing intelligence and communications. This system had a small defense fleet Hawke would being along side her own to deal with the threat. More ships had arrived in the mean time, bringing her up to the maximum strength she'd have for at least two hours. Whatever the Sith brought she'd have to deal with until reinforcements arrived. She had a plan though, quickly going over it with the other commanders. "Alright Captains, micro jumps out to the coordinates. Taboon's stay out of their gun ranges until you see an opening. All ships launch fighters and bombers when we enter the battle space. Keep in communication. Lets go".

Hawke's fleet dropped out a good margin of distance from them. Out of range but well enough to see what they had. Nine ships in all, including a bioship. It was almost unnerving to see as she'd never laid eyes on one before. She was reassured though in the amount of firepower the fleet was packing. All either heavily gunned and packed with fighters. Time to meet the enemy commanders mettle.

The Sith Apprentice smiled when he laid eyes upon the enemy fleet. They had a balanced fleet it looked, from what his sensors told him they had plenty of bombers and fighters present. Quite a few in fact, most likely more than him. It was a shame in that fact, but he wouldn't let that change the course of the battle.

"Have the carrier deploy Coralskippers and it's dropships. Vanguards deploy gunships, Razer's deploy their bilge fighters and have them circle around to the rear of the coralskippers." Once the orders had been given, Malphas's smile could only widen.

"Hail them."

Once it had been done, Malphas began.

"Galactic Republic commander, I shall warn you now to leave this space. You are incapable of winning."

Then the message cut out and if they had been listening it would only be static until they completely cut off the transmission. "Have the fleet advance, charge the hypervelocity cannon."

On the holographic display of the battle the fleet had arranged itself. The gunships were in position at the front of the fleet, the Vanguards behind the screening gunships, the Razer's behind that, still able to shoot through the gaps provided by the gunships and Vanguards, and the Carrier Analog behind it. At the very back of the fleet was the Dark Blade, Malphas's Flagship, and with a final order, the Carrier began to move to the front as the coralskippers and the rest of the starfighters stayed within the centre of the fleet.

The coralskippers had formed a wedge formation, behind that was the rest of the starfighter force.

Hawke couldn't help but grin at [member="Darth Acarus"] pompous claim. "Send a message back to this commander. Only novice strategists say they've won before the battle has even begun". Now was the time to pounce. Hawke messaged all the ships, starfighters and bombers she had. "All forces. Move to positions. Wings on attack vectors. First target will be that bioship for the frontal assault group. Taboon's, jump under the battle once we're engaged and strike from the rear. Everyone else flank and prowl".

Two hundred and fourty Narra Class Interceptor Upgraded Fighters and one hundred and fifty six of the same base class Narra's with an Upgraded Bomber package and the RST B1 Weapon System charged forth on dozens of attack paths at the enemy fleet. The bombers anti capital warhead was the first blow they'd strike. None of the enemy ships would be spared. And as the wave washed over the enemy, so it began. Laser fire and gigantic explosions of the missiles lighting up the starry scene.

"Captain, enemy fleet is advancing on us".

"Stick to the course. We don't fire until we're close in. The fighters and bombers will harry them until we are. Then we spring the trap". The Templar and the Nudda Class moved in the forefront. Their two most powerful ships to contend with the enemies front line. The others flanking or holding back. Though compared to other battles this one was small. It was the largest battle she'd ever held command on. One she felt very confident in.

The enemy's starfighters moved ahead. It seemed like both fleets would be moving towards each other. It was certainly going to be a devastating encounter.

"Have the Skarr Ro'ik deploy it's interdiction field. We don't know if they have reinforcements on the way or if they've sent a message for reinforcements already. Nor will I be caught in a pincer."

"Yes, my Lord," came Anthony Norduin's reply.

It took a moment, and then it was up. No ships were going to be performing micro-jumps. The enemy had the ships to perform a pincer maneuver against him. He was outnumbered, but out-gunned? He was unsure of that as of yet.

The enemy fighters and bombers were approached with a simple wall of turbolaser fire and defensive cannons. The gunships fired upon the fighters and bombers as they came at them, thirty-two gunships that were built to face off against starfighters. Two Vanguards with fifteen flak cannons each, those same Vanguards were firing their Quad Laser Cannons, both had fifteen. Forty missiles in total were released from the two Vanguards, already having lock-ons upon the enemy fighters and bombers. Ten heavy proton torpedoes from each and ten regular proton torpedoes were released as well. Both of the Vanguard's mass driver cannons found their targets, and fired all ten cannons upon the single Nudcha Assault Cruiser.

A devastating amount of fire power.

To aid in that defense against the enemy starfighter force was the Razer Frigates. With their sheer amount of firepower in the forms of Quad Laser Cannons, they themselves were already cutting swathes through the enemy starfighter force. Teamed up together with the Vanguards complement of gunships and it's own weapons, it was quite literally a wall of defensive firepower.

Once the Skarr Ro'ik was out of the way of the hypervelocity cannon, but still acted as a partial shield for the flagship, Malphas smiled.

It's target had been located, and it fired upon the closest Katarr Frigate. With it's long-range and heavy power ability, coupled with the Skarr Ro'iks own yaret-kor firepower behind it, it was certainly a powerful blow, one that in Malphas mind would most destroy that ship. If not, he would try again when the weapon was charged again.

"Captain, the enemy has raised some kind of interdiction field. We've pinpointed it to that bioship".

"Is that so. Well then; time to commit ourselves fully. Inform the Taboon's and have them make their way in then. Jumping isn't going to work, but we'll just change tactics". The enemy commander had some degree of organization. He must of worked out that part of her stratagy. No matter though The Templar and the Nudcha Cruiser closed into firing range of he enemy. Hundreds of guns between the two ready to blast their ships to wrecks. "All batteries fire at will"! Blue turbofire and massive slugs of solid metal were aimed at the bioship. Ion cannons aimed at more, affect-able targets; primarily their Pickett ships. And unknown to her, the cause of the interdiction field were not only generators of such, but also the ships propulsion and shielding. With these multipurpose creatures busy with one task, the enemy carrier was dead in the water and helpless.

Hawke's eyes lit up with a sort of glee. The damage they'd caused in seconds was staggering. The enemy would be panicking soon she thought. That turned to ash blowing away in the solar winds as one of the flanking Katarr Frigates exploded off her port view. As quick as it happened a relay came in that said the enemy cruiser in the rear has fired the shot. Hawke gave out new commands to adapt to the changing battlefield. "Take evasive action and press into the fray. I want all fire but the Nudcha and ours directed on that cruiser"! All ordered ships made course changes, bearing directly into the hellstorm the fighters and bombers were contending in. Casualties umong them were mounting, but the enemy would fare no better. The bombers payloads would mostly be spend by now, but they would have left a mark on the enemies capabilities.

The five Taboon's slipped under the fleets, engines at full sublight speed. Course changing in the current direction of up immediately. Hawke was noted they' arrived at their original coordinates they would have jumped too. The enemy would have know too, but it was of no consequence. Though small, they'd be a big distraction. They now properly outnumbered the enemy and were closing in on nearly all sides. The enemy couldn't escape quickly due to their own ship, which was being shredded to mince meat served a'la space. Pickett's were taking ion fire to cripple them. The tide how quickly t changed with one lost ship was immediately reversed again to her favor. They were closing the trap. The fleet hungered for their flesh and steel. Hundreds of turbo cannons silently in the void of space heralded their demise.
