is it okay to use the fan created species, planets and starships etc for fanfiction and if so do i need to give credit to that person.

You may use any canon or legends species (or planet!) unless otherwise specified (Read thoroughly) and any Chaos Canon species (I.e: Species made by site members). You may also cross two (but not three) canon species into a half-breed of your choice.

Anything beyond this (anything non-canon/legends/chaos) you could submit to the Codex for review.

The same goes for starships and technology. Check the Factory for anything banned or restricted, and submit what does not already exist.
