What would you like to see the First Order do?

Hello all,

As our latest dominion draws to a close, I would like to have some input from our currently active members concerning the next steps for the First Order. We have been having quite a few dominions lately (one after the other), and I think it's time to change things up a bit in order to keep things interesting.

I would like to see more faction-wide threads that aren't just dominions, where we can advance the First Order's story and be more creative than simply conquering planet, rinse and repeat. I would like to hear any ideas that anyone may have. The Military Ball we had last month was a good success - I would like to see more threads like this, be they simply social threads, or threads involving other factions, be they ally or enemy.

I was talking a few days ago with [member="Marzena Choi"], and both of us had a few ideas... but I would like to hear from others as well. What would you like the First Order to do this summer?

And yes I'm not going to tag everyone, because yes I'm high time-preference. Also if you're looking and paying attention you'll find this thread.

To be entirely honest, I'd like to see more activity from the membership. This is an awesome Faction and I'd like to see a drive to attract new characters and for those currently numbered as members to be proactive in coming up with things - as opposed to waiting to be given things to post to.

Yes! That would be ideal... but why isn't this happening now?

A few planned events could just be the starting point, and hopefully people will start going off and having stories of their own.

I was thinking that perhaps we could have a recruiting event, new characters that are interested in FO as well as our allies could stop by. It could serve as an invitation for people to interact with us, and it wouldn't just be another LFG "Come join us" type of thing. And if no one comes... then we can just have a nice little social thread

Also, if anyone is in the mood for a low key social thread/meet and greet... Marzena can do that. She doesn't really need a reason to throw a party. I can start something this week.

It might be better to focus on smaller things. Our member base seems to wax and wane pretty regularly at the moment (pointing at myself too) and that makes devoting ourselves to a larger task somewhat unpredictable.

For instance, going for an Invasion seems like a bad idea. More than one dominion at once is also probably a bad idea.

Smaller threads such as skirmishes for the folks who want to PvP or even non-map-game faction threads could also easily work. They're easier to pull of with any number of people and it isn't a big deal if folks join in midway or have to drop out early.

A recruitment thread sounds like a cool idea! I always like just general faction threads too. Something more devoted to story and less to "playing the game." We could even sub some nifty prizes to folks who might be encouraged by that sort of thing.

We should also definitely plan on our next dominion being on Ankhypt to bring our Egyptian-inspired friends into the fold!

[member="OK-3103"] You hit the nail right on the head. The problem seems to be that people are looking towards leadership to create all the threads, when in reality that's not how this works. People should be creating their own threads at the same time. They don't need permission from me, or anyone else, to write their own story.

Thanks for your ideas, [member="Sentiri"] and [member="Marzena Choi"]. This is the direction I want to move in for the time being. I would like to see more non-map game faction threads, and threads where we can focus on our faction's lore.

A recruitment thread sounds interesting. How could we tie this in with other factions?

Maybe recruitment could be just one aspect of the event. It could always be a large celebration/display of power(victory in Lanteeb?). We could invite current/potential allied factions and try to impress them. And also open up the thread for those interested in seeing what the FO is all about.

I've had a couple advertising memes that have been sitting around on my computer for awhile, waiting to be used. We can tie this thread in with OOC advertising.

Marzena should have another concert... that is, if she isn't too petrified after the last ordeal

I truly apologize for my ghost-like tendencies. Pneumonia is a queen! But I'm getting better now.

What I would like is this:

1. More skirmishes that lead to story lines between factions.

2. Story lines that lead to believable invasions.

3. And damn it, more tissue paper because my feckin nose won't stop running. Ever try kissing your wife with a boogery nose....it doesn't happen.
