What's that boy? Danger is danger?

Ayden was busy working on orders and the general duties of being Lord Protector when Roland suddenly appeared from a projector in his desk. "Sir? I found something interesting from your contacts that you'll want to see." Ayden raised an eyebrow and sat back. The AI very rarely called things 'interesting'. This was intriguing. "Show me."

The figure of the AI blurred and transformed into a floating wall of text. As Ayden read it, his eyebrows crept higher and higher. "Send a message to [member="Danger Arceneau"]. Priority one." Ayden pushed aside his work and immediately set out locking down his office while the AI sent out the call. Ayden and Danger may not have had the smoothest of histories, but her death would seriously destabilize a large part of the galaxy. That was not something he wanted, as a person and as a ruler.

A holoimage of Danger smoking her familiar vice would soon bloom upon Ayden's holoarray.

"Lord Protector... to what do I owe the occasion?" she'd coo with a hint of a smile. Well he rarely ever directly called her unless it was important. Much the less, at 2 am in the morning.

No one calls anyone after 2 am in the morning unless it's a booty call. Ba dum dish!

Her comment garnered no humor from him. Instead, he immediately forwarded the notice that Roland had found. "Someone wants you dead." His voice was utterly void of any emotion or inflection as he sat there. "I'd say that warrants your attention." It was interesting that not too long ago, there had nearly been a showdown between Ayden and Danger over matters of ego. Even after the collective cooling off and negotiations on Naboo, their relationship had not yet recovered fully.

Ever so slowly, Danger would pull the vice from her lips. Her legs would uncross, and she'd lean forward to scan the information across the holoarray.

A narrowing of vibrant emerald eyes would soon follow.

"Who?" she'd ask, flicking her gaze back to the Lord Protector. Granted, their relationship was to be as smooth as an astral star, but it was getting there. What mattered was trust. Much like that in a business associate. Olive branches had been given from both sides. That he'd alerted her this fast...

Well, certainly went a ways at mending bridge.

He shook his head in resignation. "That I don't know yet. This is fresh, probably not live for more than a galactic standard hour or two. Whoever put the bounty on you was sophisticated enough to cover their tracks." Up until now, it had been relatively easy to crack the source of bounties. Whoever had put this one up knew what they were doing. "This is dangerous. This is not some two-credit thug in a back alley. They're intelligent and resourceful. It's going to take time to track them down."

Ayden looked down at his console as he sent out a few inquiries to his contacts. "Meanwhile, there's an entire galaxy worth of suspects and would-be collectors. You've made some enemies in your rise to power, Miss Arceneau. I hope you take this seriously."

Smoke would rise from the cigarra perched between her fingers of her right arm, while her left would tap a beat upon her desk. She gave a pause.

"I that I will, Lord Protector." there was a hardening to her gaze. The audacity. Then again, she gave a small half snort. "Whoever done did that will soon find the Nine Hells to pay." her eyes would darken into hard malachite orbs.

"I'll double security -- In the meantime, perhaps an incentive to discover who posted this bounty is enough to worm out the son of a sith." she brought her vice to her lips and took a deep drag. Perhaps one million would do wonders at discovering who was at the root of it.

"I'd also be mighty grateful if you would be so kind on helping me discover who is at the root of this all..." she began, eyes widening slightly as her attention would draw to the man and The Hat.

Ayden nodded in acceptance. "I've already got my contracts working on that very thing. This'll be an ongoin' inquiry, but it'll take time. I have a few information brokers to contact. Even if all I can get out of them is a sector for where it was made, it's a start." It was obvious that he was frustrated at being one-upped for the first time in a long time and not having an eye on all the cards. In spite of the clear and present danger for Danger's life, a wry smirk came over Ayden's face. "It's a good thing ATC's semi-annual auction series just came to a close. Might give us a lead on who made the bounty."

A slow smile would draw then, "That indeed. I am ever so curious to see who is placing... " she'd lean forward again, her decollete nigh about to runth over as the motion presented the girls on high.

"Two hundred thousand credits on my head -- dead." a chuckle came forth. To a degree she was as amused as she was irritated. There was gall there, but also a curiosity. Either way, anyone who attempted to cash in on that would soon find that there was a reason why Danger Arceneau held the position she did now. All her tradestations and locations held top security, that wasn't even including the main headquarters scattered across the galaxy. Tatooine itself was littered with ysalamiri from Miri Farms, not to mention the bulk of droids, security from Darkwater. Her home was a fort and she never traveled alone.

"Someone either has the balls of turadium.... or is a crazed fool." a pause, "Any recommendations?"

With a sigh, Ayden broke out his own vice and poured himself a glass. "Unfortunately, I don't really have any that's not obvious. Beyond tightened security, there's not much to do while we attempt to find out who posted the bounty. I imagine attempts to collect will begin soon, but unless you intend on directing ATC's business from holocall until this matter is settled, a fact I know you won't, the only thing to do is go on livin' til someone karks up."

"I ain't got a death wish Lord Protector," she's drawl out with that Southern Systems twang, "But I ain't one to tuck tail and hide. I was born and raised within the hive of scum and villainy -- my daddy done taught me right and proper how to take care of myself."

"Whoever done set this bounty, if they want a war? I will bring them a war, straight to their doorstep."
