What's your favorite type of submission to judge and why?

Topic title says it all.

What types of submissions refers to the category like: species, tech, companies, NPCs, etc.

Which ones do you like to judge the most? Why? What are your favorite things about those submissions?

[member="Silencia"] - Tie between medical things and swords/melee weaponry and armor. I know the most about them, so I feel I can help the member the most in really creating something that carries across their ideas and is both viable and balanced in PVP.

My favourite are planets because I'm a space nerd, but I happen to judge locations and NPC the most.

My favourite aspects about NPC and Location submissions is they tend to tell a story rather than only provide hard facts. It makes it interesting for me as a writer, and I can actually say I've been encouraged to pursue story angles based on submissions I've judged.

I would do more planets, but they tend to get gobbled up and are a rare egg in the nest.

I like doing Locations, because they can be very varied and always tend to have a very specific RP purpose. Planets similarly, but they tend to include a heck of a lot more work to judge :p NPCs bore the heck out of me, because 90% of them are never used again, and we don't get many Species subs these days. I'd personally love to do some Lore submission judgments, if we ever bring that back. That one strikes me as the most interesting.

Mind if I ask what prompts your question?

Planets are my favorite but are few and far between. Locations would be my next choice. I like judging both because its great to see a writer actually take the time to make a story and a new location, something really fleshed out. I love when locations/planets are submitted then actually used in RPs, I think thats a bit more rare to see.

Locations have always been my favorite since they are the easiest for me to capture in my imagination. A well-written location sub for an RP setting is a magnificent lead for story.

I ask out of general curiosity. Sometimes the reasons for favorites are more mechanical than content. Some find planets and species difficult to judge due to the normal amount of technical things you have to look into. Personally I never liked judging military NPC unit submissions because my knowledge and capability of comprehending military subjects is low and I'm never sure if I've covered all my bases in my judgement.

As seems to be the theme with the rest of the Codex Judges, my favourite would have to be Locations. With the exception of military bases, they're generally not geared towards creating 'buffs' for PCs, but rather expand on the story and lore, which is what I love about the Codex in the first place. It's nice world-building that can be easily shared and accessed by the entire member-base, with creative and sometimes surprising new locations. I enjoy planets for the same reason, although this is probably my weakest area as I'm not super knowledgeable on all the physics involved, that's not my field.

I don't think I have a specific favorite type, but I love to see things that have been developed as part of a story. Things that have meaning to the writer and aren't just a generic part for something else.

Things with dev threads I like, because it gives me a reason to read a story.

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
Would you believe it if I said ships? Shocker I know. I love what people come up with and imagining how their design would work in battle and such.

Cool and interesting tech is always nice to see too, though a lot of it seems to have balance issues.
