The Diamond Lake Park* was one of Josiah favourite hanging places. It was the perfect location where he could be alone, read, study, do some needed research. And the best thing -- it was close to his new home and far away from his previous one. So in general, it was a perfect place.
Around a rather mediocre lake, there was a huge park full of crystal-like trees and bushes, all designed to match the planet's theme (which happened to crystals, won't you believe it?). It had a very luxurious atmosphere to it, and that's exactly what this place was. The park's long circular road which bordered the lake was mostly used for ceremonial parades and for rich people to drive through. Nobody else really used that path so much.
But that didn't matter to the boy. He was there and had been visiting that park for a while now. Nobody looked at him with an odd look and no rich person had ever restricted his movements in the park.
So it wasn't that bad, he guessed. Even though local merchants' spoiled children hanging around the place was a common daily sight. They didn't really think much of silence, preserving nature or studying. They just wanted a place where to stay after school and this one was just perfect for that.
Mainly because there were very few low-class people there.
However, the boy thought he would one day change that. Maybe not directly and maybe not personally, but he thought he would aid whoever wanted to make the society of Christophsis better.
Because he seriously hated the current society the planet had.
