Where There Are Criminals, There Are Also Allies

The Hutt Cartel had already seemed to be doing some of it's work. Small bits of spice were making their way onto the streets of Commenor. Most of the planet's population were doing fairly well, so there was no need for them to get into any addiction of that sort. However, one doesn't need to be poor or down and out in order to fall victim to such a trap. There were some large business execs and even former politicians that were being enticed into the drug. It was rather sad and disappointing.

As the Madam President, Kay did her best to rejuvenate the economy and boost trade among many planets, companies and governments. Their ports and warehouses were checked and rechecked, some randomly, some on schedule, so that illegal goods were kept out. But no system would ever be fool proof.

Throughout her election campaign and Presidency, Kay had made herself approachable and reachable with the public. It was quite the turnabout from what the Commenori were used to. It was probably half of the reason that she was elected.

So it wasn't uncommon for her to be found at one of the tea houses in Chasin City, just as she was today. One of her bodyguards, Einon, sat at a nearby table in plain clothes and cradling a glass of brandy in his hand. He was never one for tea, or tea houses, so he had the look of a very bored individual. Kay on the other hand was sipping her tea and going through her holo-mail on her public account. There was plenty to respond to with regards to the recent Celebrations and the donations given. This could be a long afternoon.

The Intrigue flew swiftly through the blankness of space. Its target Commenor a lively planet within the colonies region. Normally he tended to inhabit worlds around the outer rim, but hey when there was a good paying job he'd go jut about anywhere. Finally the multi-colored planet came within view. Maxerian set coordinates to the spaceport within the capital city. Breaking through the atmosphere his ship started to slow and its solar fin closed . Once it get within docking distance three feet popped out from the bottom of the starship as it landed gently on one of the landing pads. Upon exiting he payed the docking fee and stated his purpose for visiting the planet was just to visit an old friend upon the planet itself. Of course though he had different reasons for being there.

In reality though he was a merc by trade who prioritized on bounty hunting. On this planet though he was going to meet a certain individual he was asked to see. Sad thing was he recognized the name of this "friend". It was the name of an individual who he may or may not have tried to collect a bounty on awhile back. He was just hoping she wouldn't hold it too much against him, she probably would but great Maxerian didn't care.

The Mustafarian walked along the streets of Chasin City. His weaponry was hidden from eyesight but he still got the occasional glance. Mustafarians weren't common to leave their own planet, but that's what made him unique. As he walked he kept mostly to himself, he had places, or to say a singular place to be. Unfortunately the only information he had on where to meet this individual was the fact that she would be in a tea house. Like that helped there were probably hundreds. He did ask a singular guard roaming about any notable tea houses to which he was given a few. Luckily for him though within the first two he saw his target.

Maxerian grunted entering, "So Lady Kay we meet again." His voice was heavy and scratchy. As well as being muffled by his helmet, but what did one expect from a large humanoid bug speaking in Galactic Common.

The quiet near solitude that Kay had immersed herself in was interrupted by an unusual voice. She looked up from her datapad, at the same time as Einon, though the man remained seated. It was almost theatrical in the way that [member="Maxerian Gron"] spoke while he entered, almost like a villain about to begin a long monologue.

Kay set down her tea as she studied the individual. There was something oddly familiar about him. But then again, she had come across so many in a short amount of time, that it was starting to become hard to keep track.

She cleared her throat a bit as she got to her feet, the mere motion of her movements signalling to Einon to be mindful of what was going on. Kay folded her hands in front of her while she spoke. "Clearly we have not met again by accident. What is it that I can help you with?" Max was dressed like a hunter, but she didn't want to make assumptions. She learned a long time ago that things were not always what they seemed.

((Sorry for the delay. Family emergency took me away from home))

(It's all good family and life come first always)

Maxerian took a few more steps in taking a good look around. The smell of tea permeated his smelling senses. It wasn't that bad though. In many ways it was better than the sulfur fumes that came from the lava flows of Mustafar. Ah he could still remember the endless days of mining from the lava flows when he was in his younger years. It was afar cry from his current occupation that was to say the least. "A pity the bounty on your head has gone away it was quite the sum of credits," He spoke with his same harsh voice, with a light chuckle. His arms were crossed as he stared down at the woman.

"Luckily for you I am not here on less than savory matters," He took a few steps over to her table, as he pulled out a chair plopping on it then lifting his legs crossing them on the table. "To think I had almost killed the president of an entire planet, perhaps it was fortunate that I didn't, a shame though the credits would of been nice," He chuckled again. He had a slight ego problem so he tried at the very least to boost his own ego when he could.

Maxerian peered over at the female leader letting out a small hmph. "As it would turn out a friend of yours is an employer of mine now though, curious how these things turn out," He spoke peering around the tea house. This was probably an awkward sight for a lot of people. Some random short bug alien just nonchalantly talking with their president. "I suppose in a way that means you in turn could be my employer now to say or at least that's why I was sent, a little mynock told me a certain cartel was giving you problems."

Kay raised a brow as [member="Maxerian Gron"] mentioned her bounty. She sat herself down as he continued to speak, picking up her tea and having a sip as he stared her down. She was doing her best to appear comfortable, yet she was highly suspicious of his motives.

Max soon invited himself to sit down. Another brow was raised as he plopped his legs up on the table. His ego was...not unexpected. Many a hunter shared the same boasting trait, and so did many playboys that she had come across. It was funny that they all thought that she would be impressed or taken with that kind of attitude, but she was no easy catch by any means.

Another sip of her tea was had while he spoke of being an employee of one of her friends and potentially an employee of hers. Perhaps there weren't many bounties available at the moment and he was looking for a different trade in the meantime.

"I wasn't a President at the time, I was a Senator. This position is less than a year old for me. So, you are looking for work, are you? Besides bounty hunting, what else can you do? And how much would it cost us?" Kay neither denied or confirmed that a certain Cartel was causing her trouble.

"Bah same thing, either way it would of been the death of a prominent political figure," Maxerian stated shifting slightly. It was a pretty good bounty, but the past was past. He gave a small shrug, as he stretched his arms back, audible cracking being heard as his exoskeleton of a body popped at some points. "Ahhh," He said looking back at the president getting read to answer her questions.

Maxerian let out a small chuckle shaking his. "That is the thing, I'm not looking for work, or let me rephrase that I'm offering my assistance. I have work I can do elsewhere, a near endless supply of bounties in the galaxy to choose from but as I said your friends of one of my current employers," He let out another small chuckle-grunt, shifting again. He grabbed a napkin from the table as he pulled his main blaster our polishing it on his lap. "Being the oh so kind generous soul that I am I decided to come here on my own free will to offer my services at a discount, because of that," He continued rubbing the weapon making as clean as he could.

"Now I am a bounty hunter by trade but, my skills also extend to typical mercenary work, which coincidentally generally ends in either someone being killed or captured funny how that turns out, and as for the price depends on the job and the risk I'm sure you under," Maxerian stated. He did note she didn't respond to his comment about the cartel which made him chuckle internally. He already had his info on what was going on partially. So he was just curious at how the lady president would talk about it.

Kay leaned back in her chair after having a sip of her tea while [member="Maxerian Gron"] brought out his pistol and began polishing it. She wasn't trying to maintain a distance. On the contrary she was listening, thinking about what he said and forcing herself to not tense up.

A bounty hunter and a mercenary. Those two tend to go hand in hand. It was difficult to find a person that was just set on doing one or the other. That was just how the Galaxy worked in this day and age.

Kay brought her tea cup to her lips and had another sip. "The Underground and Black Market. I had caught [member="Cadan Tazi"] here before. I'm sure you know of his reputation as the Spice King. As far as we're aware, smuggling spice and other illegal goods here is not so easy, yet no system is fool proof. If you are up to the challenge, then do a bit of recon for us, see what you can discover. Infiltrate and capture if you must, but no killing. I don't want our streets to become a battleground. Are you up for it?"

"And so the truth comes out," Maxerian said with a chuckle after Lady Kay had finished speaking. Just as he had heard. It would seem his sources were good after all. Spice trade, what a sad fate. Personally Max never tried the stuff nor had the desire to. He just never liked the concept of taking a substance that could literally change how you act and possibly even leave you defenseless for a short period of time, no matter how great the spice was. He also heard of the long-term affects of spice. That over time it would degrade a person to complete and utter mindlessness, making them lose most of their rationality. Yeah not a substance Maxerian would personally get into.

"Hmph," This Cadan fellow didn't sound so tough but he supposed he could look into this. "I suppose I could put my superior hunting skills to the side for now, unless you wanted me to drag a few bodies to you still living," He let out another small chuckle. It wasn't uncommon for a bounty hunter to get a job where they had to capture rather than kill individuals but this job honestly sounded more like a spy job.

"But fine, do you have any leads of your own other than this so-called spice king?"

Kay smirked at his mention of the 'truth coming out'. She just figured that it was a good test to see just what [member="Maxerian Gron"] would decide to do. And superior spy skills? Well there were many that held that claim, but it wasn't always true. And restraint was a true test of one's strength and character. It was far too easy to just pull a trigger and end a life.

"They are more helpful to me alive than dead. Dead men don't speak. Now as for leads, check out the warehouse districts and the neighbourhoods nearby. Crime Lords like to target the weak. Although I'm trying to be sure that everyone gets a good, living wage, such things take time and we haven't got to everyone yet. There's your start."

"Very well Ms. President," Maxerian chuckled again throwing his legs from the table. He still found it quite humorous indeed, how the contracts turn. That was the life of a bounty hunter though. They went where the money was, granted Maxerian had one thing that many others didn't loyalty. Some bounty hunters would turn-coat the moment they saw a deal with more money thrown in their face. Not Maxerian his loyalty and honor was absolute, which was now of course with the CIS.

"Consider the contract done, our mutual friends will be most pleased with the end results I feel," Maxerian stated standing up up putting away his blaster, hiding under his body suit. He would keep to thew contract, not turning the streets into a battle-zone. This would make for a very fun contract in this case. Still if worse comes to worse he would still defend himself with lethal means if absolutely necessary.

"Anything else you wish of me before I go?"

Kay had another sip of her tea, setting the cup down on the table after [member="Maxerian Gron"] took his feet off of it. She folded her hands on the table, feeling better relaxed now that things seemed to be settled.

Einon however, kept his eyes on the hunter while he sipped his drink. He was still unsure, but it was his job to be cautious.

Kay look up to Max. "Yes. I will need a means to contact you and vice versa. I don't have a spare commlink on me, but I can get one delivered to you. Where would you be staying?"

"Bah," Maxerian said reaching through all of his pockets, finally finding a small communication device. He tossed it at the President. "It should already be set up to my own personal channel but if not use Access Code, 92-84-13," Maxerian stated, he would need to get the other from his ship now but he was going back there anyways to restock, on any supplies he may need. He thought for a moment at the second part of her question and shrugged.

"I'll be around, for these type of things I like being on the move but for the most part If you wish to find me my ship will be the best bet, it''s just down the way at the local space-port," Maxerian said with a grunt. It was more of a strategic thing than anything else. You stay in one place for too long it gives opposition a chance to create a trap in an area where one would generally let their guard down.

Kay reached up and grabbed the commlink when [member="Maxerian Gron"] tossed it. She made sure to remember the access code, just in case. "Thank you. I know what it's like to always want to be on the move. I went through a period like that, myself." Of course their circumstances were vastly different, both back then and now.

She pocketed the commlink and then picked up her tea again, having a sip while she looked over to Einon. Yes, it sure was an unusual day. But a good one, regardless.
