Whispers in the Dark

It wasn't very often Jairdain was requested to teach anything simple anymore. A day finally came when she was and she looked forward to opening the eyes of this student. Her mental abilities were quite well known and the easiest to learn and teach was telepathy.

So she sat in one of the meditation rooms and waited on this new student to enter. She sat on the floor, but around her were some pillows and chairs so one could be comfortable. Being one to keep things simple, Jairdain was not sitting on anything but a rug.

Many years ago, she would have worn something thought of as traditional for clothing, but those days were long gone. Now she wore what was comfortable to her. Dark boots that were well worn, but not falling apart. Pants that were also dark, but a different colour than her boots and a lighter shirt. Everything was of fine quality and well made. Tailored to fit her, it could be seen she took care of herself and her belongings. Nothing was extravagant though.

The door was open and welcoming.

Been a long time since Kat had a lesson on the Force, her Master Josh was busy running the faction and tutoring his other Padawans. Kat prided herself on being independent and self-reliant. She didn't need her Master to teach her everything, there were others and she could learn from them. So happened that Jairdain was one Master in the Force that was offering a class on telepathy. It was a private class, but she was looking forward to learning from someone highly rated by others. Asaraa had only words of praise about Jairdain when Kat asked about her. Walking down the corridor, Kat stretched out and yawned, it been a long morning, she done several repairs that had been asked of her. Shorty been ordered to look after the rest of the repairs while she had her lesson.

Dressed in a pair of torn jeans and a pale pink top, her hair was tied in a tight bun high on her head. She peered into the room and saw Jairdain sat on the floor, eyes closed. Kat massaged the back of her head, she wondered what the woman would be like as Kat never met her before and was curious about new people to the Order, or from what Kat had heard new to her but returning to others. Kat coughed politely, "hey, so I am Kat, here for a class on telepathy?" She smiled as she moved in and looked around, clearly this seemed to be a test, though the point of it she was unsure of. Kat grabbed the smallest, thinnest cushion and sat on that. Only using the cushion to avoid her bum getting numb if they were sat for a long time.

She did not stand up with Kat entered, but Jairdain did nod and smile at her with a welcome. Motioning to the room around her, she invited the other woman to pick a place to sit. Once she had done that, she sat forward slightly and waited just a moment to speak.

"I am Jairdain Ismet. Do you have any idea on how telepathy works?"

How she went about training this skill depended on the answer. Each person had a different idea of how this worked. This was something Jairdain was especially strong in and she had to meet another person that could truly match her.

The various pillows and such in the room were not a test in any manner. It did not matter to Jairdain what another person might or might not need to be comfortable. That was why she offered several different options.

While it might not have been a test in Jairdain's eyes, Kat perceived it as a test and hoped that she had passed it. Looking around the room, she thought on the ability of telepathy. It was to her, hard to describe. "I'm guessing it is like two machines communicating without actually saying anything, nothing verbal being said but through signals in the mind." Kat paused as she scratched her cheek slightly. "Urm... maybe, I'm not exactly sure but that is why I am here I guess." Kat stated

She paused and looked down slightly embarrassed as she felt kind of ridiculous and stupid for not knowing anything about telepathy but there was little she could do about that, Kat figured. Inhaling, she looked back up and looked firm as she could. Pausing, Kat waited for Jairdain to reply to what she said about telepathy.

Listening to the answer to her question, Jairdain nodded in agreement. Kat was mechanically inclined and she would have to alter her teaching to match that of her student. Another person had needed to do that for her before, so now it was her turn.

"That is very much like how it works. Wireless communication. All that is needed is a functioning connection to the Force and the person in question."

If a person was strong enough, they could even get a message to a person that couldn't use the Force.

She picked up on the feelings from Kat and attempted to reassure her.

"There is no need to question yourself, Kat. If you have any questions, please ask them. I am here to answer them and won't think any are stupid or shouldn't be asked."
