Wide Open Skye

Ben Corscifine had left Lothal with nothing but his robes, his lightsaber, and a bevy of demons to exorcise. Behind him lay his childhood, his training with the Jedi Order, his friends. His whole life disappeared over the mountains as he quietly boarded a transport headed off-world. By hopping ships and staying low, he had managed to find himself in a newly-founded First Order settlement on Skye, a planet located--like Lothal--in the Outer Rim.

This was a remote planet in territory which had previously been antagonistic to Ben--he remembered repelling the First Order on Lothal when the Galactic Alliance had annexed the planet and recovered the massive kyber crystal that had been discovered there. In spite of its isolation and animosity, Ben had a reason to be here: in the planet's highlands was a mountain, Mount Krisklar. This geological titan had once been considered a goddess by the native sentient species on Skye. However, Ben knew it to be more than this from his studies in the archives on Lothal...

Ben remembered with a pang that he had never visited the archives so frequently as when he first began training under Corvus Raaf, who had as a Youngling dreamed of being a librarian. Indeed, it was the loss of this master that had propelled Ben on this journey of self discovery. She would probably be ashamed that Ben had renounced the Order, but Ben liked to believe that she would trust him to return more dedicated than ever to the cause.

...But, back to Krisklar. Ben had read of a tunnel system running through the mountain, which led to a large cavern in which Jedi from eras past had built a meditation garden filled with attuning crystals. There wasn't a material benefit in the young Jedi's seeking this place out, but it was the first place he had considered when he left Lothal. Perhaps there was something to be gained from a visit to that ancient underground garden, if for nothing else but a chance to heal.

For now, however, Ben would have to spend the night in the First Order settlement until the morning, when ground transportation would be available for his visit to the mountain. This was a tricky situation, because Ben was liable to be recognized as a Jedi, and he had a feeling Lightsiders were not welcome here. As he moved through the small city, he did his best to suppress his Force presence, using the Concealment method he had learned from Corvus. Still, Ben was very much a beginner in this practice, and it was unlikely that he was having much real success hiding himself.

Unfortunately, he would not be able to tell how well his stealth did or did not work.

Katelyn Feanor

Two sides of a singular coin

Katelyn walked down the center of the street, lightsaber hilt within her left hand. Clenched tightly as if she let it go, it would never come back again and it would be lost forever for the whole of time. Her body held bronze and silver colored armor with a black cloak hiding it from view. A mask of metal lay upon her face, hiding her true identity to the world and concealing it as a nameless soul of Ren. Fanus Ren to be precise, Fanus taken from her great grandfather on her mother's side which means, 'Strong Soul' or 'Bronze Trident.' A black hood adorned the top of the mask, hiding her black hair from view and replacing it with thick insulated black cloth.

Katelyn's body walked down the street in a masculine way due to the armor she was wearing along with the reason to hide her true gender as to not make citizens suspicious. Her hazel eyes looking forwards and occasionally to the sides as far as they could due to the limitations of the viewing range of the mask she was wearing.

Wait, what's that? I feel..not alone?! No, no that can't be right I'm the only assigned Ren in this district so that would mean. Wait, it has to be a citizen right?! No, it can't...I always check the citizens records and none of them are force sensitive. So..that could only mean.

Katelyn's body stood rigid as she contemplated this until turning to her right and waling in the direction of where the strange connection to the force was coming from. Her mechanical left hand clenched even tighter around the metal handle, the thumb just barely resting upon the button to activate it. At a moment's notice that is.

As Ben rounded the corner of an alleyway and entered the large main street on which the inn at which he was meant to spend the night, he felt an immediate disturbance in the Force. It was clear, there was someone else here. This was a First Order planet, which gave Ben reason to believe it was a Dark Sider. Even if he didn't have that logical thought, his intuition confirmed for him that this had to be the case. The inn was at the end of the street, if Ben could make it there, get inside his room, and lay low, he may be able to avoid trouble.

Ben imagined days when a Jedi attempting to be hidden would wear a hooded cloak. To him, this would make him stick out like a sore thumb. He had opted instead for simple civilian clothes--a tunic, pants, and hooded jacket. Under his jacket was his newly-crafted lightsaber. Ben was more than prepared to employ the weapon, but he hoped he wouldn't have to--a fight would disrupt his meditative mission, and possibly force him to abort the trip to Krisklar.

There was a conundrum here...Ben could reach out with the Force and attempt to locate the adversary. If he did so, his location was liable to become equally apparent. Ben wasn't sure how well his Force Stealth was working to begin with, but if he had been lucky enough to face only a novice, he may already have been safe.

Still, if his adversary was any good, they would be able to sense Ben regardless of his paltry Concealment attempt. \

He made the decision, and located the Darksider a short ways down the street. Ben was in trouble, they were close. Ben pulled the hood of his jacket up, and began to walk as quickly he could away from the First Order Sith. The inn was not far. Hopefully he could escape without a problem.

Katelyn continued to sprint down the alley, towards the direction of the lightsider. She pushed through groups of people while other citizens jumped out of the way of her, not wanting to get pushed or thrown out of the way. Katelyn's hazel eyes peered through her mask towards somebody walking-fast down the street who was wearing a cloak. Which is where the lightside presence was coming from. She ignited her lightsaber in hand, making an orange blade extend from the lightsaber before walking towards the man who was trying to get away without looking too suspicious.

Katelyn's silver armor gleamed in the sunlight under her black cloak, giving off the occasional glint of her armor when the cloth was drawn away revealing the armor. The metal mask upon her face showed no emotion whatsoever, only a plate of cold metal which bared no single emotion, because it wasn't alive. It didn't feel guilt.

Though, Katelyn did feel guilt. She didn't necessarily want to hunt down this lightsider..but she did fear he was a threat to the First Order. Which she was apart of...as if it was her very home. And she wouldn't let her very home be trampled upon by the minds of a lightsider spy.

Snap-hiss

Even if Ben had not felt it in the Force, the undeniable sound of a lightsaber being ignited was an immediate signal--Ben had been caught. He wasn't looking for a fight. In fact, he wasn't looking for anything or anyone. He had come to Skye on the ghost of an idea, and somehow it seems a more substantial specter had found him. Ben stopped in his tracks and turned. Any crowd had dispersed at the sight the First Order warrior's weapon, and with good reason. The orange blade glowed and hummed with a menacing all too familiar to Ben. The young man removed his hood, revealing deep, resolute brown eyes. He made no move for his weapon, but lifted his hands as if to say he meant no harm.

Perhaps he could get himself out of this, yet.

The adversary who stood before him appeared to be a man of about average height. He had a thin frame, but was well-armored. Ben wore only his robes, and was smaller than his opponent. He had no idea that the person below that wall of armor was a woman, although it didn't matter much either way.

"I come here peacefully. I do not want a fight with the First Order or with you."
