Worth Dying For

Sanya Val Lerium

Neutral, Queen of Her people, Neko

Prolog
One sith forces had been tracking the ship Sanya and Corvus was aboard during the scouting of the unclaimed area's of the core world's. Cut off from republic space they made an emergency landing on lujo in hopes to throw them of the trail, hiding the ship in one of the dense jungles, little did they know the one sith had set up a small out post on the outskirts.
3 hour's after landing
With little to no food the two Jedi made there way into the jungle to search for things to eat and a local water force. As the both made there way through the jungle strange noises started to occur nothing felt right about the situation and they where right to think so. They soon approached a ledge temporarily stopped them in their tracks, Sanya walked over to the edge to see if there was any easy way of decent.
before she knew it the ground under her feet had came loose sending her falling over the edge with out time to react, as Sanya landed on the ground below she stood up and brushed the bits of rubble and dust off her clothes. her eye's darted up to see only Corvus head and a series of crimson red blaster shots coming from behind her , shouting from the top of her voice Corvus told Sanya to run.
Present
Sanya had been keeping on the move since they had been separate, she had finally ran out of stamina, her breathing was heavy unable to get it under control. bringing her hand down to her belt she reached for her com's device, that was stuck. After a struggle to get it off she pressed the button on the side to bring up the screen but nothing happened. "DAM IT!" she spoke in frustration before letting out a long sigh she sat down leaning against a tree.

"Why does this always happen to me, and why now of all times?" Unable to contact Corvus Sanya activated the tracking beacon on her datapad. "Well already it's not all bad news" she looked around before resting her head on her knees. 'Why am I even talking to my self?' Sanya brought her head back up resting it against the tree, she reached in the small satchel that was on her belt and pulled out a small packet of biscuits before she started to get too hungry.

"Because you think you're alone." The words of the red Zabrak would sound off some distance behind [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] . Darth Ferus, one of the Sith himself, was hunting. More specifically, he was hunting the ship found in the core planets. Sanya was the first he had met from this ship, for now, and he would use this chance to find out more. With his signature in the force shrunk to a microscopic level he may as well seem like a normal person. With a couple of lightsabers on his hip he probably would seem suspicious, but for now he would keep up the non threatening facade.

"What are you doing here?" Blue eyes watched the younger female for a moment. Dressed in his unusual armor, he shouldn't be giving any Sith vibes off just yet, but that would change soon enough.

Sanya looked over her shoulder in the direction of the voice before rushing to her feet. She looked around to see who spoke the words but the foliage made that difficult, her hands dropped down to her sides hovering over her sabers "I have a feeling you know the answer" jumping to the conclusion he was with the others that where tranking them, her voice seemed calm but heart raced ten times to the dozens not expecting to have been found by someone other than Corvus, then again she did raise her voice. Her eyes jumped around trying to locate the person. "Now show yourself"

As she stood there by the tree she started to think of an escape plan but the problem was she didn't know how many their where. Was she surrounded Or is it just this one? she didn't want to take any risks that would come back to bite her. she remained stood where she was unloving the sabers from her belt preparing for the worse case scenario.

[member="Darth Ferus"]

Ferus stepped out, both hands gently pressed behind his head. He looked around the area lazily, as if he wasn't that interested in [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] . More of his facade. For now, he would stick to peace with this Jedi, knowing full well that there should be another. Or at least, he hoped. It was clear Sanya wasn't a Master, or even a knight. He didn't like the Jedi, but he expected a little more respect for their padawans than to send one into enemy space by themselves.

"I'm not hiding kid, but it seems like you are. What are you doing here alone?"

Sanya Val Lerium

She turned to face the zabrak, he was taller than her by alot and he making no attempt to hide his sabers dangling from his waist. Sanya knew she had to be careful with words here with the current situation. "I have a feeling you know why I'm here, as for me been alone am I not allowed to fly my own ship by myself to where I like?" hiding the fact Corvus was with her. she dropped her hands and relaxed her arm's still remaining by her side realize if he wanted to attack her he would have done it by now.

"now presume you know what I am and all I can say is I have an idea what you are which puts us in a bit if a dilemma. I know you won't let me go and you know I won't surrender" this was all speculation but this wasn't the kind of situation she wanted to be in. Sanya reached out with the force to see if Corvus was close by but she must have cleared some ground in the time they had been separate. Sanya was definitely in this alone and exhausted from the amount of running, if this turned into a fight for her life she knew she wouldn't be able to hold out for long.

[member="Darth Ferus"] Ξ [member="Corvus Raaf"]

"Very true, very true." Ferus would nod along as [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] spoke, but after she finished he went right to his saber. Pulling free the odd blade, he would light up it's blue energy and point the flat saber right at the girl. "So we may as well skip the talking and get to it. I'm here to kill you, and you're here to die. Make sense? It does to me." Bursting forward the red man would suddenly bring his saber across for her chest, a small grin on his face. Whether or not there were more, he would deal with her swiftly.

Sanya quickly pulled both sabers from her waist and igniting them. intercepting the zabrak's attack Sanya married her blade's to form a strong block setting everything into a deadlock. "I won't give you the satisfaction of taking my life this day... sith." narrowing the blades together she pushed his saber away giving an opportunity to kick him square in the chest pushing him back. raising her main hand she swung the saber not at the zabrak, but the tree to the right of her slicing it at an angle to fall in the direction of her opponent.

Sanya could now feel the strength of his power in the force now, she knew this was a fight she could not run from nor win by just relying alone on her fighting abilitys. even using the force was a limited option as it would take to much energy. the Forrest echoed with the sounds of the branches snapping before she knew it they where falling all around. some of them were thinker than her leg and triple her her height in it's length. this was both an opportunity and a demise, not only she had to Dodge them now but also the sith had too. Sanya smirked. "heads up."

[member="Darth Ferus"] Ξ [member="Corvus Raaf"]

A bemused grin took over the features of the Sith Lord as he watched [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] . If she was a Sith, he would of taken her on as an apprentice without hesitation. But alas, it was not so. Moving back with her kick however, he would let the grin fade back into a stoic frown, aiming to simply hide his emotions. But as she cut the tree, a brow would raise on his face. What was her plan?

Looking up to see the tree falling down towards him it would hit him. Not the tree of course, but her plan. A laugh would echo as he raised his hands upwards, almost ignoring the girl. A sickening purple flame would form around the red man, and without warning it would billow upwards, burning a hole through both the tree and the debris in the shape of himself. The pillar of purple flame would only go so high, but it was high enough to protect him. And it acted as a natural shield. Oddly enough he didn't get burned, a prop of knowing how to control fire. His old master Vulcanus would be so proud. Letting the charred husks of the tree collapse about him, his gaze would turn back to the girl, a taunting smile on his face.

"Neat trick."

sanya's face was in shock she didn't expect him to just burn through it, she at least wanted him to rethink his approach, instead it made her rethinking how she was going to go about the situation. "well if you loved that then you will love this." cutting power off to both saber she placed them on her belt once more. taking one last look at the surroundings she forced push on the ground making a screen of dirt around her. she kept her footing quite approaching the sith his blade made it easy to pinpoint where he stood.

she ignited both sabers once more. lunging forward her blades swung for what she presumed to be his chest and hoping to hit there mark.

[member="Darth Ferus"] Ξ [member="Corvus Raaf"]

While she herself may of been quiet, Ferus could still feel [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] . As she walked around him, he would simply keep his hands down by his side, humming lightly in the dirt could. "You don't think that'll be enough to hide from me, do you?" More taunting. As the girl came out to strike him though, his blue blade would meet her own two as he himself gripped the hilt with a single hand. His second hand however was up, and a torrent of the purple flame would go to wash over her skin.

It wouldn't kill her, that was for sure, but the fire would be far more painful than anything else he could do to her at this moment. A sadistic grin formed on his face. This padawan was either alone and would die, or the pain he would inflict would bring out who ever she was with. Jedi were always keen to protecting one another after all.

Sanya Val Lerium

as she made her strike at the zabrak the sudden feeling of burning washed over her. Sanya tensed at the instant causing her body to crash to the floor sliding to the sith feet. her body came to a stop her knees tucked in and arms wrapped around her self.

the dirt settled around her as sanya layed there her skin still felt as it was burning up and she has no longer got the energy to stand, her vision was white. she was sure this would be the end. she focused on her breathing and cleared her mind, except for repeating the Jedi code in her head before speaking. "do your worsed sith, if you expect me to be afraid of you then your mistaken" it was clear to hear that she was in pain with the sound of he voice.

[member="Darth Ferus"] Ξ [member="Corvus Raaf"]

A slight tilt of the head was all [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] would get at first. He was shocked. Not at the attacks. Not at her defense. But simply due to her will. At such a young age, it was hard for him to think the girl was serious when Sanya told him to do his worst. It wasn't arrogance he heard, no the pain stopped that. Instead, it was the fact that even though she was in pain she still spoke those words.

Shutting down his saber, Darth Ferus would offer a single bow of his head. A shocking thing to most, but it was out of respect to the Padawan. "Very well child." And with those words he would lift up his hands. Fire, purple in hue, danced about his finger tips. Slowly but surely, they flames would wash out to surround the young woman. It was a small heat she would feel at first, but the intensity would grow and grow, all the way up to blistering heat. Never once did the flames touch her, rather he was using the heat alone. His eyes were devoid of joy at this point. In his eyes, he was marking a foe worthy. If she could handle it, he would give her a clean, quick death. But if her words from before weren't true, he would burn her alive.

the pain was unbearable her body was slowly blistering from the intense heat, she was still blinded from the previous attack. Sanya knew she couldn't just lay there using the remaining strength she had she attempted to push her self up instead her arms collapsed from underneath her. Attempting to stand once more she put her knees underneath her to give her more support and pushed up to sit on her legs.

Sanya eyes remainder closed trying to empty her mind away from the intense heat. "I won't give you the satisfaction of my death sith" repeating the words she spoke earlier. she managed to stand up her body slumped from the pain and blistering.

opening her eyes everything seemed blurry she could now see the purple flames around her. reaching out with her hand she force pushed him back to make the flames stop. moments before exhaustion took it's toll she reached out with the force in hope for Corvus would hear her "help... me." everything soon after blurred into darkness her body fell forwards onto the ground.

[member="Darth Ferus"] Ξ [member="Corvus Raaf"]

Uninterrupted, Ferus would have continued to burn the girl. He was intent on finding her limit, yet the Iridonian would stop only another minute later. He was pushed back, having expected the girl to be unable to do anything but scream. For a padawan and someone so young, they had a fiery determination, one he could respect. [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] would find the purple flame to suddenly dissipate, and the once blistering heat replaced by the forest cool.

"You know, I'm actually impressed the Jedi have members such as you. If you made it to a master, or even just a knight in your power, you may have actually been a threat." A compliment, rather rare from the Sith, was as ever an insult. Pulling free his golden oddly shaped saber, he would step ever closer to the girl. "But I can't allow that. You've earned my respect, so this will be quick." Now, and only now, he would bring up that saber, moving to arc it down and end the life of the Padawan.

If any a time would be good for someone to come and save her, it would be now.

Sanya slipped into her subconscious image flashed but unable to determined what they mean, was it her life flashing before her eyes or her mind trying to find a good dream to dull out the pain. either way it felt as it was working.

Sanya rolled over so the sunlight that was braking through the canopy hit her face. a small smile reached her lips. "still answer me this, if you wanted me dead you could have done that in the first move, why wait?" her eyes remaind closed once more and even close to death curiosity still hit her, she still felt the need to ask questions although some are best without answers.

Lujo. If there was anything likely to have the One Sith crawling all over it, it was the fact that they’d recently conquered the planet. But with zero options other than landing, they chose as remote a site as possible – it just turned out that it wasn’t remote enough.

So a quick foray to see what resources they could find whilst the astromech repaired the ship turned sour very quickly. One moment they were worried about how dangerous the edge of a ravine was, the next they were ducking blaster shots.

Corvus sent the Padawan away. And as much as the option didn’t appeal, she knew she’d have to take out the troopers. If their position became too public, they’d never get off this rock.

From the Force signature, it was clear that Sanya took the instruction to run literally and didn’t stop moving. Once she’d managed to subdue the troopers, she tied them against a tree and looked to communicate with Sanya. Except one or both of their comm.-links was broken. So she had no choice but to follow the Padawan to tell her that now would be a good time to return to their ship.

But as she grew closer, she sensed another presence – this time entirely Dark and by the signature, most likely a Sith Lord. Corvus looked up. With this sort of luck, it was bound to rain, wasn’t it?

On another day, the beautiful landscape would have been a joy to behold, but being on a One Sith planet and with no certainty anyone knew they were here, it was clearly not a time for sight-seeing. So Corvus raised her hood and cloaking her presence in the Force, pressed on.

She saw what looked like purple flames just break the canopy of the trees and speeded up – whatever was occurring needed her involvement sooner rather than later. And then she sensed pain – Sanya’s no doubt. Just how far ahead had she run?

And then she heard the plea for help. ‘I am coming,’ was the simple reply. Corvus made a note to have a speeder bike put into the cargo-hold for the next trip; all this walking was healthy but way too slow. But finally she was almost there. She sensed they were only a matter of metres ahead. But first she entered Serenity. It was brief but it allowed her to regain focus and full power. The element of surprise was useful, but being at full-strength was more important right now.

So she uncloaked and stepped forward into the clearing, her eyes sweeping over the Sith and Sanya. She recognised the Dark-sider by reputation. One of the foremost duellists the Sith had.

Given more time, Corvus' entrance would have been less dramatic - but he immediate attention was drawn to the blade swinging down at the Padawan. Corvus sent a small but focused Force Push at the Sith's saber hand. Not enough to knock him over, but sufficient to move his hand so that his saber should now taste only empty air. Having done this, she bowed gently before speaking, having gained the Sith’s attention by now. “I appreciate where we are, but my sentiments never change. Surrender to me now and I promise you a fair trial.”

Never halting. Unforgiving. Merciless. Such was the way the red man struck out his blade. [member="Sanya Val Lerium"] would speak, but find her words to fall on ears deaf to pleas or distractions. Darth Ferus hated those who talked when things got serious. When your life was on the line, why try to use your words rather than defend yourself? It had always puzzled and infuriated the man. As such, his blade would tear down, arching right for the girls neck.

Only to be blown off course. Part of him knew another Jedi would come to save her, part of why he let this drag so long out. With his hand suddenly moving in a way he did not want, the Zabrak would shift, turning his body with the push and causing his blade to arc downwards. The golden blade would leave a molten mark on the ground itself, and with a rather large sigh the man would glance over to [member="Corvus Raaf"] .

She was known by him. Grant it, anyone would know her. She, Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, was known by all Sith. A challenge any Sith would normally be willing to take on, but this was not the time or the place for Ferus. He would turn fully to the female, his saber slowly retreating into it's hilt and he himself inclining his head. His words spoke out just as the chatter in his earpiece came to life. The soldiers she had left alive seemed to finally be filing the report.

"It is quite an honor to meet the Jedi Grandmaster. You would be the second I met, after Dragonsflame. Though, weren't you one who tried to have him removed from office, no? And now look at you, having gotten his position. I'm rather impressed." A faint smile would form on the lips of the red man, but he would reach up to scratch the side of his face after a moment. "You know, I won't surrender, and so long as I don't attack you, you won't make a move. Jedi code and all that. Usually I would actually fight, but you. No, Grandmaster -and- Shield of the Jedi? Can't risk fighting that, not with so many unknown factors."

Slowly the Zabrak would begin to turn from the Jedi. The scratch had been used to activate his com, and let the other Imperial forces combing the woods know where exactly he was. "Now, I'm going to simply walk away. You could try to stop me, maybe even succeed in either killing or capturing me, but the army will be here by that point. Your padawan is in rough shape, I would suggest on simply leaving, while you can." While a taunt, Ferus wasn't exactly pleased about having to retreat. But in truth, there were too many variables. The Grandmaster was as such for a reason, and she would be an amazing challenge to overcome one day. But with the padawan still there, he didn't want to have to split his focus if he didn't have to. Walking away into the forest if uninterrupted, the Sith Lord would leave the soldiers to deal with the Jedi.

They would meet another day.

Corvus looked at the Sith. She allowed many of his words to wash over her, unsure if he was bating her or simply stalling for time.

Dragonsflame? She’d heard of the name but he was before her time on Ossus. But it was the first time a Sith had chosen not to engage. It was hard to say she was disappointed but it had been a very, very long time since she’d face a Sith one-on-one. Probably Balaya when she was still a Padawan. Since then three-onto-one was the best odds she’d faced.

But she was going to let him walk. Sanya needed her attention and she was on a One Sith planet after all. There was no telling how soon reinforcements could be summoned. So she watched him turn and said nothing. If a lack of knowledge put him at a disadvantage, then she wasn’t going to furnish him with information that would help him down the line. And besides – she knew they would face each other sooner or later – that was inevitable.

As Corvus watched him walk away, she pressed a button on her saber – as simple device – and she looked around for the nearest large clearing, knowing this would be where the ship would set down. Having identified the spot, she turned her attention to Sanya.

Kneeling beside her, she put a hand on the Padawan and white light coalesced around her fingers and then seem to enter Sanya’s body. Which is precisely what happened. She pushed the Force into her body to alleviate the pain and speed up the recovery process. Pulling a comlink out of her pocket, she gave a simple instruction for a ship equipped with a bacta tank to meet her at the closest position possible. She had a casualty. Would she live? Certainly. Would the effects of the attack be permanent? Possibly. Only time would tell.

Corvus heard her ship land and she lifted Sanya using the Force and transported her to Raven 2 as gently as she could, using the Force to keep the Padawan as rested as she could.

Once in space, Corvus risked bringing the Padawan back to consciousness. “Hey there. It’s Corvus. You were extremely brave back there but don't worry, you’re going to be OK…”

Sanya's eyes slightly open to find everything a blur the detail she could make out was that she was no longer in the forrest. Corvus words had woken her it was calming to know she was safe. Sanya felt as she couldn't move much of her body, she was still in pain but not as much as before. she blinked once to clear her vision and looked at Corvus. "thank you ... again" a small faint smile reached her lips "and I only did what I could, i knew my chances where slim when I could feel his power."

Sanya forced her self up and started examining the extencity of the damage. the majority of her body was cover in scars that ran up along her legs and arms, some where deep but the rest mostly on her left side but she knew the light ones would fade in time.

"honestly I though I was going to die." a long deep sigh left her mouth "the worst part is I didn't care about my own life but instead the others he'd endanger. I didn't want that" Sanya covered up the scars and leaned back in the bed "master Corvus?" Sanya turned her head to look at Corvus "I did do the right the thing right? by fighting instead of running I mean"

[member="Corvus Raaf"]

Corvus was pleased that Sanya had regained consciousness. “Do not thank me Sanya, you were branve and endured great physical pain at the hand of the Sith Lord. A lesser Jedi would have buckled under the pressure and the torture but you held out and that shows you are not weak.”

“I’m afraid that some of the scars will fade in time – but not all. I arrived as quickly as I could but not soon enough. For that I am sorry. But unlike you, I did not fear you would die. You were too strong for that.”

“Rest now Sanya, we’ll get you to a bacta tank soon enough. And yes, by the way, you did the right thing. As you sleep there will be truth between your heart and the Force. That is the test. You will be at peace because you stood your ground when you could simply have run. You have passed a most difficult trial and passed it well, believe me.”
