Wow, that is a lot of jedi

So the more I research the more I find you don't have just one Jedi group, but a lot more. I was curious out of the active ones, what makes them all different enough to warrant different groups?

By Jedi I me and light side groups, not grey jedi (I believe that is what they are called... Jedi who use the dark side, but more good than bad.)

The SSC has the largest and most active Order.

The Republic is rebuildign it's own

The Church of the Force is a new thing that wants to be the Order

Theres plenty of minor groups but, those are the big Three presently

Theres really an endless number of light side jedi running around with out orders too

Let's run this down bby,

  • The Jedi Academy Network:
A network of temples, schools, daycares, dojos, coffee shops, and satellite academys that all allow the active participation, travel, and cooperation of Lightsiders. Generally in whatever is going on right now.

[*]The New Jedi Order of the Galactic Alliance:
  • (Sullust) Jedi who fight the Sith. They keep it classy.

[*]The Silver Jedi:
  • (Voss) A pretty loose interpretation of how to be one of the a good guys. Do your own thing. Look good doing it.

[*]The Jedi of the Galactic Republic:
  • Following Mantic and Corvus' departure. Dude. Bro. I don't even know anymore. Lol. They used to be pretty swag with the whole traditionalist thing. Prequel Jedi stuff, ya know.

This is inaccurate and it was never meant to be portrayed that way in that it might over-take or try to replace the other Jedi Factions, that would be insulting and I'd never be so bold.

The purpose of the church of the force is for members that want to help bring more collaboration between these factions so that the Jedi Order might have some larger semblance as a whole entity, whilst not taking away from what makes the others unique in their own ideals. It is a long-term In-Character belief/ideal/goal (none of which will take place any time in the near future as it needs to be built on IC connections), that there can be a greater union between the Jedi factions of Chaos, and members that might join, will not be expected to pull themselves away from the others as it hopes to assist and support all, eventually.

That said, we're certainly new. Not here to steal anyone's thunder, here to ride the lightning alongside them.

It's not that there are necessarily differences in IC theology as to warrant there being different groups. The major and minor factions represent different groups of writers who collaborate in different ways, and people tend to roleplay with whoever they happen to click with.

The thematic differences [member="Karen Roberts"] listed aren't necessarily limited to the Jedi groups as they are representative of those factions as a whole. The Republic tends to use Prequel story elements, the Galactic Alliance has always been about taking the fight to the Sith, and the Silver Sanctum is very 'tell your story' kind of de-centralized story.

Find a group or a story that you like, and just hop in. There's Jedi, Sith, and everything in between in just about any group on the board.

So if I wanted to make the quote Unquote perfect jedi who upheld the code to the best of his ability and truly wanted the best for people and to be a hero, but without the glory, which would he join? I assume Republic, but I get the impression there isn't exactly a republic at the moment....? Right impression?

Oh! Also if you guys were to name someone who is already the most jedi type and less about let's fight all the time and more balanced with strategy as the core, who would you pick?

With whatever faction they are in might be worth looking into.

Honestly, any of the Jedi Orders. Or none of them. I can think of characters matching that description in every faction.

Depends on the "flavor" of Jedi you're looking for. Just off the top of my head:
[member="Ryan Korr"] in the Galactic Alliance would be a classic Jedi Guardian archetype who balances strategy well.
[member="Shmi Labooda"] in The Jedi Order (minor faction) would be a classic Jedi Consular archetype who does the same.
[member="Mantic Dorn"] in the Galactic Republic would be a classic Jedi Sentinel archetype.
[member="Maya Carrick"] in the Silver Sanctum is arguably the best Jedi Healer example across the board.
[member="Julius Sedaire"] in the Kathol Outback is one of the best examples of a Corellian Jedi.
[member="Anija Betna"] in the Mandalorians (United Clans of Mandalore) is a Mandalorian Force User who balances strategy in her character.
[member="Nefertari Sovint"] in the Jedi Academy Network would be another Jedi Guardian played well in balancing her character.

There are many, many others I could call out as well. That's just who comes to mind at the moment.

^ This.

If I really had to push you in a direction right now, I'd probably say join the Galactic Alliance Faction, then spend a few weeks hanging out with their New Jedi Order to start. If that works. Keep it. If it doesn't? You've got options.

Enjoy the sandbox! :D

The Republic is doing a rebuild of a more traditional Order. I'm pretty sure we're gonna do away with the no bonking rule, but if you like say...the old KOTOR era...where Padawans weren't all kids and you could marry...I'm pretty sure that's what we're loosely basing it on.

Ya'll should totally get that info on a single piece of paper and post a Faction Advert and a Blog Post about it. I didn't even know the GR had a Jedi Order anymore. Lulz. :p

#2 cents.
#Play how you want.

I could work with that as I did play halfway through the jedi knight storyline lol. If I wanted a sort of recent history of the republic, where would I go? I want to align Jacen's backstory to reflect growing up in the Order.

I generally classify the current Jedi as:

Silver Jedi: Amalgam of extraneous orders, also some dark siders, generally Gray Jedi.

Republic Jedi: Old Republic style traditionalists, or at least they used to be.

Alliance Jedi: Luke Skywalker-era Jedi Order. More laid back as far as the Order itself goes. Most have led or lead other careers in addition to being Jedi.

Just echoing what everyone else has said; look through each faction / synopsis and then swing your character in the direction you feel they fit most. It's a big, big sandbox filled all kinds both light and darksiders. And then there are those of us who like to flirt between the lines ;)
