Wrrlchiir
Wookiee Ashlan Crusader
Wrrlchiir
NAME: Wrrlchiir
FACTION: Ashlan Crusade
RANK: Padawan / Engineer
SPECIES: Wookiee
AGE: 40
SEX: Male (cisgendered)
HEIGHT: 6'10"
WEIGHT: Heavy
EYES: Green
HAIR: Mahogany, some multi-colored spots
SKIN: N/A
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
+Compassionate: Having seen much hardship in his life, Wrrlchiir often goes out of his way to extend his heart to others. Even his enemies may see some understanding for their situation on the odd occasion. That being said, his compassion has its limits; he is kind, not stupid.
+Open-minded/forward-thinking: One positive of his odyssey through the galaxy is that Wrrlchiir has a broader perspective. Where one may see a simple tree for harvesting, Wrrlchiir would understand more in depth the purpose it serves to the Force and its environment. By no means is he small-minded when it comes to the impact one has on the future.
+Moral: Not an unusual trait for someone of the Light Side, Wrrlchiir has a strong sense of right and justice. Everything he does is out of drive to see good done to others, as well as rout out evil in all its forms. He heavily dislikes when ‘protocol’ gets in the way of moral responsibility.
-Fearful: With everything he has been through, Wrrlchiir has learned to fear the galaxy. People he does not know or trust provide anxiety about intent, as does the potential return of more sinister powers. He has much to lose, which instills deep caution.
-Reclusive: If it’s possible, Wrrlchiir avoids people. When he can’t avoid everyone, he often keeps to himself and only speaks when he deems it important. In some cases, people may wonder if he can speak at all.
-Solemn: Despite his compassionate heart, there’s often a disconnect between that and his ability to even smile. Everything is of grave importance to him, leaving little time to simply enjoy the moment. Then again, it was never a luxury for him...
APPEARANCE:
Wrrlchiir is not a bad looker, as far as Wookiee go. Close to average height, he bears mahogany fur of a surprisingly soft texture. He is a bit thin, though the volume of his fur tends to hide this. His irises are a deep shade of vibrant green, set into a face that may seem like any other Wookiee to a human.
BIOGRAPHY:
Wrrlchiir was born on Kashyyyk long before the idea of the much of the current conflicts came to be. As a child, he was raised the way any other Wookiee pup would be. At twelve, he was tasked with passing the Test of Ascension, which required him to survive in the Kashyyyk Shadowlands. As fate would have it, however, Wrrlchiir never succeeded at the trial. Instead, he was captured by slavers hiding in the brush, waiting for Wookiee boys to leave the safety of the canopy.
Rounded up alongside a few of his friends, Wrrlchiir was taken far from Kashyyyk to a slave auction in the Outer Rim. There, he was bought by an old moisture farmer on Tatooine who had credits to spare for cheap labor to help him through his waning years. The man was far from kind, but as he put it, “You’d rather have me as a master than some of the folks out there.” The man’s name was Garm Tillian. No one consequential in the grand scheme of the universe, but he certainly acted like it.
Garm did what he could to teach Wrrlchiir about life, if only so the Wookiee could be more useful to him. Engineering was a first and foremost skill. That, plus cooking, cleaning, and writing in Galactic Basic. After all, Garm couldn’t “Wookieespeak,” but still wanted some conversation. For about five years, life was simple, although Wrrlchiir found it a stark and frankly degrading contrast to Kashyyyk. Still, he got some freedom, such as interacting with people at the market. But it was hardly to last.
As it turned out, Garm owed a bit of money to the Hutts both from years past and from the loan necessary to purchase Wrrlchiir. Needless to say, always a stingy fellow, he had failed to pay up. In the end, it cost him his life and signaled a worse time for Wrrlchiir. No one cared about the plight of a Wookiee-- especially not in the Outer Rim, whether the backdrop was Republic or Empire. Thus, no one bothered to intervene when possession of the young male passed into a Hutt.
For a little over two decades, Wrrlchiir remained in the Hutt's massive ensemble of slaves. His job, however, was not mere servantship or dancing. In actuality, a Wookiee, even one so young, was valuable for moving heavy objects. Once it was discovered he could engineer, too, he was pretty much sealed as a smuggling assistant. No chip was placed in his skull due to the nature of them being distance-sensitive, but a blaster was always at his back in case he misbehaved. Once news came in about Jabba’s demise on a smuggling run, however, the crew had the brilliant idea of taking the Wookiee for themselves.
It was only three years later that Wrrlchiir was freed, probably by accident or fate alone. The smugglers, having gone independent following a job on Zygerria, were careless and loose-lipped. Ashlan Crusade, if Wrrlchiir had to guess, were there simply for the smugglers. Yet the way they talked to him, it seemed as though it were intentional. Either way, it was revealed to Wrrlchiir that he was Force-sensitive and was offered a place among their number as a Padawan. Without hesitation, he accepted. Where else would he go, anyways?
