STRENGTHS

DESCRIPTION


The Wastelander is Helix Solutions' breakout weapon in terms of mass-market arms. Bridging the gap between carbine and pistol, it can easily be used in either role, allowing the user to choose which is needed for a given situation.

The WSS possesses an extremely high rate of fire (approximately 1200 rpm) and fires 9mm slugs from 32-round box magazines. This allows the weapon to place dozens of rounds on a single target in seconds, sending even large alien beasts down in shredded heaps.

Surprisingly light and handy for so rugged a weapon, the Wastelander is perfect for use in back-alleys or tunnel-fights, and has growing fanbase among criminals, scavengers, and bodyguards. It tolerates dust, mud, and other fouling extremely well, and the action is so robust and violent that only the very worst contaminants can lead to failures to fire.

The WSS can accept a variety of specialty ammunition, but the most commonly used are incendiary and explosive. The former are hollow, filled with a small quantity of flammable chemicals, and the latter simply detonate with a small damaging radius. Coupled with the weapon's wild rate of fire, explosive ammunition in particular can sweep an enclosed space clean of life with a flurry of shrapnel.

Primarily a close-quarters weapon, the Wastelander's effectiveness suffers greatly beyond 100 meters on a good day, and is more ideally used within 50-70. Additionally, its high rate of fire can see the standard 32-round magazines emptied in moments if the user is incautious, and as such the user must have a care when utilizing full-auto fire.
