- Model: X9 Bumblebee-series Engineering Droid
- Modularity: Significant; aesthetics, tool loadout.
- Four versatile arms that can be outfitted with plasma torches, scomp links, and other general engineering tools. Could theoretically be swapped for blasters or other weaponry, though Bumblebees are woefully unoptimised for combat. Just buy a Vanguard.
- Can be modified for mining purposes (X9-E; Bumblebee Excavator), often in cooperation with RM-103s and RM-501s.
- Can be modified as a stevedore/miniature tug boat; often deployed in swarms in cargo processing hubs.
- Production: Mass-Produced
- Material: Durasteel or Tridurium Chassis; various droid components.
- Classification: Class Two
- Weight: Average | 200 kg
- Height: Large | 2 metres
- Length: 3 metres
- Width (Open): 4 metres
- Width (Closed): 2.85 metres
- Movement: Repulsorlift and Ion Engines
- Armaments: N/A; could theoretically be weaponised.
- Misc. Equipment: Advanced sensors, various engineering tools.
- Plasma torches, scomp links, animated metal sealant, and more.
- Often outfitted with a tractor beam projector to facilitate heavy lifting.
- Resistances: Top-tier environmental protection, but not designed for combat.

- Busy Bee: Bumblebees can be used for a wide range of engineering-related duties in space or in atmosphere, including but not limited to mining, maintenance, construction, and even starship assembly; in the latter capacity, entire swarms may see deployment in shipyards.
- Civilian: Bumblebees are woefully unoptimised for combat; even if modified for said purpose, their performance is likely to be subpar.
There were numerous advantages to utilising the labour of organic sentients, but equally many disadvantages - droids were not often at the forefront of innovation or creativity, but they made up for that failing with consistent, precise labour and a willingness to work without breaks or compensation.
As an added benefit, their accidental destruction would do little but upset the bottom line - no public outcry, no sudden drop in morale.
Designed to take full advantage of these strengths while compensating for any shortcomings through unfailing adherence to the intricacies of any instruction, the humble Bumblebee is capable, resilient, manoeuvrable, and thoroughly scrubbed of anything even remotely resembling independent thought. While assigned in great numbers they are often managed by a GMC or other AI, though organic supervisors are equally common.
The Globex Corporation itself most commonly deploys them to orbital shipyards and planetside construction projects.
