Prophet of Bogan
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Droid aid in the forces of Wonosa was hardly a new or novel concept as the Kzaevas and Tuk'ata had been in service for more than a few years before the XN series was ever considered, both of which were great additions to the rank-and-file of the cult forces. By the time that Sanguine Defense Works was founded however, manpower concerns were at an all time high given the state of Wonosan affairs. The Tuk'ata droids were initially given greater production priority in order to try and field more forces but with these droids being meant as support for infantry alone they weren't ideal for making entire squads out of.
Additionally while production capacity for ships had increased, naval manpower was in an even shorter supply than in the army forces which led to battle droid testing and prototyping becoming even more vital for continued Wonosan growth. Fielding an entire droid army was not within their capabilities of course but having some additional droid forces to compliment their existing and future organic army was clearly a necessity at least for the time-being until recruitment efforts could be expanded and stabilized. The Xarnait, the Sith word for "servant", series droids would be the solution to these manpower issues. For now at least.
In order to not be forced to produce hundreds of these units as droid forces of the past had to, better quality droid brains would be incorporated into these models as well as integrated tools to ensure some level of survivability and capability beyond simple amassed numbers. While normally this would be expensive to do on a large scale, the engineers of the newly founded Sanguine Defense Works were able to concoct some shortcuts and bribe some existing droid manufacturers to produce reliable yet cheap droid brains for such a task. The typical droid strategy of marching towards the enemy in a straight line regardless of return fire and casualties would be replaced with simple combat maneuvers comparable to that of newly trained and deployed soldiers.
When a fair amount of these droids had been produced, Sanguine Defense Works would quickly push them into two separate but very profitable markets. Primarily they would be sold to worlds within Sith space, usually to newly established governors or local security forces in need of quick forces for a variety of reasons, but they would also be fielded by the company itself and dispatched as mercenary forces to planetary governments in the Outer Rim to help guard against criminal factors as a means of generating a new and steady income stream for the company and by extension the cult.

- Artificial Intelligence: Unlike most mass-produced battle droids, the XN series features a decently intelligent Droid Brain as a standard. Mainly this is to allow the droids to operate vehicles and crew starships without any modifications needed but simple battlefield strategies and concepts are also included in this standard intelligence package to make them more effective. While still no match for organic soldiers or dedicated tactical and strategic droids, the Xarnait droids nonetheless do possess enough "common sense" to make them decently capable soldiers even without direct orders or oversight.
- Fusioncutter: Although typically meant to be used for dismantling debris or obstacles, the integrated fusioncutters allow the XN series droids to not only make repairs to themselves and one another but also to equipment and vehicles on the battlefield. Albeit in an admittedly limited capacity. Still this simple utility makes them a valuable addition not only as simple security droids or outright battle droids but also as escorts and accompaniment for auxiliary forces such as engineers or medical personnel.
- Synthetic Soldiers: With basic knowledge of combat tactics and integrated weaponry and tools, the Xarnait droids exemplify all that is lacking in most commonly fielded battle droid models. Capable of enough strategy to keep themselves functional without direct input from organics or superior droids as well as the ability to operate most vehicles and effectively crew ships, these battle droids can be relied upon to wage war alongside or in replacement of organic soldiers without too much loss in overall efficiency.
- Still Just Droids: While the XN series may be more capable than most of their common mechanical brethren, they are still mass-produced droids regardless of their advancements. They are barely more capable or "well trained" than a militia or common pirate in terms of strategy and tactics while also sporting the common droid weakness to Ion and EMP attacks. Their ability to pilot vehicles is similarly fairly predictable and unremarkable, overall allowing them to be fairly easily dispatched by any real professional forces.
