SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • | Kiss of Death | Due to the nature of the Hellpyre formula and the byproducts it produces as a result of chemical reaction, the Skyfire artillery round features a dual-stage mechanism when fired. Skyfire rounds are large and house two separate compartments that contain the Hellpyre formula. As the Skyfire round is approaching the ground, special sensors trigger the first stage mechanism, opening up the midsection and activating a centrifugal mechanism; this results in raw Hellpyre being spread out across a large area, raining corrosive pelts capable of melting flesh and other organic material it comes into contact with which is primarily aimed at any infantry or civilian targets. When the Skyfire shell physically makes contact with a surface, the point of contact sends an electric signal to the secondary Hellpyre container located in the tip, causing a chemical reaction that results in a highly volatile explosion that can wipe out anything caught in the immediate blast area. This is followed by a highly toxic and corrosive gas as a byproduct being released into the air, capable of melting flesh and metal alike while causing severe respiratory damage if inhaled even slightly.
WEAKNESSES
  • | Indiscriminate | As is the nature of all tools designed for war, the Skyfire is indiscriminate in who is affected by either the liquid acid released or the ensuing explosion and release of highly toxic gas. Only armor and filtration systems designed to handle corrosive elements or toxic gasses really have any hope of standing a chance to what follows.
  • | Zone Denial | A double-edged blade more than anything; while the Skyfire is extremely effective in gassing out and laying waste to an entire area, the ensuing gas clouds that come up do prevent people from passing through without specialized equipment, resulting in any marches on a Skyfire shelled target being halted until the gas clears.

DESCRIPTION
The XR-AS 'Skyfire' Pattern Artillery Round functions to utilize a substance known as Hellpyre that was originally intended for flamethrowers and grenades in a more destructive capacity. Taking all the properties that made Hellpyre dangerous, the Skyfire utilized the more volatile components of the formula to make it even more lethal. With Hellpyre's innate reaction to electricity prompting a very volatile explosion and release of caustic gas as a byproduct, it already had the potential to be weaponized into artillery form. This has been further elevated by the addition of a secondary deployment system that spreads the caustic liquid over a wide area, eating away at armor and vehicles that come into contact with it.
